The tension that brewed between them was palpable. Her ribcage felt tight around her lungs, squeezing them, until every fresh breath of air seared her throat, marking it's slither back down. Fingers curling into fists, she matched his step with one of her own.

One day she's not even worth a second of his time, and the next, he's standing here, barking his frustrations over her wasted potential. The same potential he never thought to mention before.
