"thank you, aether." he speaks calmly to his gardevoir, who simply bows and remains where she stands, allowing sam to begin his walk along the shores of mt. pyre.

he has a lot to contemplate. a lot to process and a violent need to decompress. his shoulders are tense, his senses are sharp; he needs to unpack his mind. a bit of spring cleaning, if you will.

while kanto was not a place that he was unfamiliar with, the absence of his mother being in his life felt like a constant knife in his back, kept cold and numb by the knowledge that he had knox prescott in his life still. knox was worth living for. his mother had even said as much, but lamented that her illness clearly thought it was time for her to move on.

as one who dealt with death so regularly, he thought he'd be more prepared for it. knox understood. just as sam understood that knox couldn't be there... but that didn't make it easier.

he is back to being his robotic self and he knows knox hates that. loathes that part of him; or so he's convinced himself through memories, regardless of how many times knox has said he loves every part of him.

his eyes trail the shoreline as he listens to the waves lapping. he stops, watching, almost as if waiting. but for what? he's not even sure himself.

Sam was looking down into the water. When Temp appears, it is from above.[break][break]

There is a small rustle of falling rock before the man slides onto the scene next to samuel carter. It is a narrow miss- Temp catches himself on the very edge of the water, wobbling back and forth from his slide. He almost tips in, then falls back instead. A few inches to the left and Temp would have sent them both crashing into the water.[break][break]

Temp sighs and relaxes when he's stable, staring out at the water for a few moments.[break][break]

There is a madness in his eyes. He smells like The Border; but he always smelled like that nowadays.[break][break]

"Hey dude." Temp groans and makes to stand up. A very distressed Glaceon yips and slides down his path, fur bristled as he comes to his Trainer's side. Temp just gives the Glaceon a small pat before turning to Sam like nothing had happened.

[attr="class","samknoxw"]as he seems a rock tumble into the water, sam blinks curiously and then turns gently toward where the rock came from. what he sees is a man, then a near splash.

looking to the direction of where it has come from makes sam feel uneasy. the sort of uneasy that causes him to rotate his shoulders in a physical show of him not wanting to worry about what has happened.

when the man greets him, sam is quiet. but it is only for a moment.

”hello fellow dude.” the greeting is mechanical as he’s putting on his usual façade when dealing with people socially.

Thankfully for samuel carter, Temp is very autistic. Whatever weird speech pattern the other has is noted but not seen as weird. Temp just grins and goes to clap Sam on the back in a friendly manner; man had little to no personal space.[break][break]

"Like, what're you doing here, dude? Looking for pokemon?" Temp had never met Sam and had no idea his importance to Pyre. "Bro you have, like, some sick tats! Did they hurt?"

this one reminds him of mint frost, but a little ... derpier, as knox prescott would say. he doesn't comment, simply makes a mental note and takes the slap on the back as a sign of good faith. even if his fists clenched in response due to habit.[break][break]

"Oh shit, bro, really?" Temp seems excited, much like a chipper puppy. Turning to the side, he rolls up his sleeves. While his FC might not reflect it, his upper arms are decorated with a plethora of chunky, geometric designs. The most intricate is a large and block Milotic. All of Temp's tattoos are black.[break][break]

The Milotic was actually his Bloodline crest. 'Rararie' had just been a piss poor white people spelling of what the crest meant. Good thing he was a Quinn, now. Government fucked up white people names less.[break][break]

"These didn't bother me that much, either, dude! I got them the old needle poke way, you know? Not like, a tattoo gun."

sam's not sure if he ever would have guessed when waking up that morning if he'd be standing on mt. pyre reflecting on life and end up talking about tattoos with a random passerby that fell out of a dimensional shift.[break][break]

but also, sam takes the punches life throws and rolls with them. so he observes the exposed art and studies it. they mean little to nothing to him. other than it being a much longer and painful process.[break][break]

"was it because of a tradition that runs in your family that you got them in a less popular fashion, or by personal choice?"
