stopping in the petalburg woods, mitch looks around with furrowed brows. he’d meant to wait at the entrance for nikotine to join him, but forgot in lull of his song and started walking.

welp, hopefully the guy can find him. mitch plops down and crosses his legs, pulling. cigarette out of his pocket and lighting it up without a fuck to give about forest fires.

it makes sense that this arm of rocket encourages its employees to travel in pairs, even when not on duty. with the region as volatile as it is, nikkari can appreciate the foresight. of course, at the end of the day, they are but bodies for the machine, for the glory of rocket.

but so is everyone else. they just don't know what they're beholden to.

he is, unfortunately, privy to his partner's song about him. alecto has a nasty habit of tugging at shadows, teasing eyes away from him, so he doesn't often realize just how easy it is for him to sneak up on people with the gremlin constantly pulling her tricks.

"i assure you, i have no intention of going anywhere near your genetalia, mitchel," he says as he steps in his field of view.

”what a damn pity that is, too nikki.” mitch frowns before glancing around.

”think we’ll find anything here with some decent venom?” gods he hopes so.

because apparently nikki’s not into dick and that’s all mitch has to offer otherwise.

the what the FUCK is not kind to his ears. the softspoken man actually winces. alecto, however, just chitters joyfully and scuttles off of his back to peer up at him with her odd, gemstone eyes. her head tilts nearly ninety degrees and nikkari turns his head too.

alecto starts cackling. nikkari's gaze flickers upward and at mitch's question, he smiles.

"i think so," he says coolly and then points up above mitch's head, where an ariados descends with fangs poised.

[attr="class","wownewmain"]the creepy thing on nikkari's shoulder feels like home to mitch. too many days spent in the presence of samuel carter for mitch to be bothered one fuck by something creepy.

the point up, however, has mitch raising a brow and giving a, "mm?"

fangs. big ones. ugly ones. they have mitch scuttling backwards away from the dripping acid and fumbling back in confusion. that eight legged freak makes mitch grin.

"damn man you almost got me!" he rotates his ass to pull out his drapion's ball, tossing the lug out.

no command is even needed. the drapion zeros in on the ariados and sends its tail to grip it, pincers flexing. the aridos dodges but the drapion's quick to charge forward. the two are in a scuffle of which the drapion begins choking the ariados' squirming. the drapion gives a final crunch on the ariados' head and mitch only pays enough mind to throw a capsule for capture.

"guess i won't hafta try too hard ta find anything good, huh?" then he peers at nikkari with a grossly flirtatious grin. "yooooo, that make you my lucky charm, nikki?"

truth be told, he hadn't expected much from the crass man. he certainly hadn't expected him to pull out a rather well-behaved and deadly drapion from his back pocket. the ariados gives a squelch as the larger beast wraps its mandibles around its head and nikkari's almost surprised to see the body still alive to get sucked into a pokeball.

alecto watches with fascination and then very suddenly melts into the shadows. she emerges a good distance further away, sharp claws outstretched and hooked around the neck of another pokemon.

"what have you got there, lec?" her response is to bite thoughtfully on the leaves of the strangled shiftry, even as it beats at her with a shriek. her eyes flash when it goes in for a sucker punch. she renders it useless with a disable and tosses it aside just as quickly, leaving nikkari to nudge the fallen thing with his foot.

his wallet is in the shiftry's mouth. "you little pickpocket," he mumbles, amused. he picks his wallet back up, tucks it back in his pocket, and drops a ball of his own.

"oh, trust me, mitchel - keep me around long enough and i'll find a hundred and one ways to prove you wrong there."

[attr="class","wownewmain"]mitch saunters over with his hands in his pockets and his lanky six foot four inch frame hunched a bit to look at the shiftry. his drapion follows him with far more gentle steps than it had used to close in on the ariados.

the drapion mimics mitch and nikkari's movements, or goes to, but the shiftry is nothing but red matter being sucked into the capsule by time it gets a chance. so the ground gets poked a few times instead.

"that's why you gotta get you one 'a these." he was beaming as he lifted his wallet out, with a chain attached, letting it dangle like a pendulum.

alecto joyously claps her hands and is rather appreciative of mitch's antics, with is nothing short of annoying for nikkari. you'd be hard-pressed to find him ever insisting on leashing his little gremlin, but seeing her attempting to curry the degenerate's favor makes him reconsider the sentiment.

he stares with obvious distaste at the chain wallet and shakes his head. "i'd rather not jingle with every step. and besides, it's hideous."

with the act dropped, alecto meanders down the road and busies herself with terrorizing the local mushrooms.

sam once told him, in a heartfelt moment for sam and a normal moment for mitch — as he has the emotional range of a fly — that mitch was the person that sam could rely on to be blindly loyal to him no matter what side sam chose to be on. proof was in how sam associated himself mostly with the league for so long and mitch still loyally served him, even while working for rocket. now?[break][break]

now they were 'on the same side' and mitch didn't think of that heartfelt moment. no, instead, he takes the question literally.[break][break]

"whatever the hell i'm told. when i'm not yanked around by the leash, i'm usually gettin high or fuckin' somebody."[break][break]

or something in some cases... but he don't talk about those times.[break][break]

in the background of their conversation, his drapion finds a wurmple and eats it. no fucks given. the little wiggler feels good in her mandibles as it screams for life upon being devoured.

"how illustrious," nikkari says dryly. that would explain mitch's obsession with what's under his jeans. now, while nikkari hadn't come here to make friends, he definitely wishes the organization could have sent him, well, literally anyone else in this neck of the woods.

at least they're pleasant, for the most part.

"but you're happy with that?" he asks, ever curious. "you find that fulfilling?"

alecto watches with unabashed glee as the drapion picks up the struggling worm and crunches it to bits behind its mandibles. she hops from foot to foot and then falls completely over, writhing on the floor from the sheer force of her howling cackles.

down the road, upon hearing it, nikkari grimaces.

he pauses, looking past mitch to stunning blue shards sprouting from a nearby tree. he steps neatly off the path without another word and nears them, thinking they've stumbled upon tera crystals. and nearly loses his head for it.

the petals convulse, spinning into a sharp point aimed right for him. he ducks down with a swear and calls sharply for his gremlin. more than witnessing violence, she loves to be the cause of it. a shadow sneak brings her up to the unsuspecting creature. purple claws dig into its side, dragging it halfway into the ground so nikkari can breathlessly throw a pokeball at it.

because he's a stupidfuck, he looks up to agree that, 'i mean yeah why not' sure it is enough when nikkari's suddenly gone. he turns, watches, and his eyebrows shoot up in surprise.[break][break]

"dayum." he curses, letting out a small laugh. "you got some nice moves nikki."[break][break]

too bad you're tragically straight, he thought.[break][break]

his drapion gives a soft roar before harrowing over with a very deflated lookin forretress in her claws. she'd shook a tree earlier and when it plopped out, she'd quickly used a night slash before it could blow up on her.[break][break]

"sick," he lazily chucks a ball at the forretress and then moves over to give her claws a quick pat. "nice one baby."
