she feels fingers tug on the fabric of her sleeve, sending a thrill of panic down to her stomach.

and then she runs into a wall.

"ah!" she yelps, stumbling backwards. a quick, uncertain glance behind her reveals nothing, so she tentative looks at what got in her way, fearing the hallucination had moved to block her way.

[break][break] as annalise fights fire with fire, determination brimming, the influence of the INTERDREAM MIST falters. pink wisps of light flicker, a mixture of the sweet Eva Morales peeking out before it clasps down like prison bars back to the twisted dream version.

[break][break] 'what about me? don't you want to be a good friend to me?'

[break][break] mist-eva frowns, hurt lashing in her face like a storm.

[break][break] 'is being a good friend more important than being a good person, annalise?'

[break][break] as the words leave her mouth, there is a soft call in the distance. it's impossible to see amongst all the cloudy pink smog.

for a fleeting moment, annalise catches a glimpse of the eva she remembers. a there-and-gone gentle look on her face, swallowed up by the specter of eva as she regains vicious strength once more. in the interdream mist, everything blurs together. reality and hallucination. eva and her scathing counterpart.

and she'd tried to be that person for Eva Morales earlier, reaching out with pleasantries and apologies as they ran from rockets together. it stings to be called a bad person, to be chastised for matias' wrongdoings. eva seems like she'll only be satisfied by annalise going back in time and resolving to never go to the ranch — but is even that enough?

the voice that calls out is white noise in her ears, drowned out by the deluge of accusations.
