a shadowy shape moves against the gloomy light filtering down from somewhere above, catching annalise's eye from where she's sitting on a rock. who is that? she wonders, pressing her palm against smooth stone and pushing herself out of her seat. only league personnel should be here — the odds of that silhouette being a rocket are better than them being a wayward civilian, she realizes with a sinking feeling.[break][break]

she reaches for a poke ball at her belt, releasing her ceruledge. the cool light flicking from her blades illuminates a small area around them.

her ceruledge follows the point of her finger with her eyes, gives a curt nod, and sinks into an inky black portal.

the ghost-type exits her phantom force in front of Asriel Pryde , blades bared in warning. annalise catches up on foot, raising her voice to be within earshot of the unknown individual.

Having already sustained injuries from a previous altercation, Asriel was determined to reach his objective quickly as possible. While they had been expecting the league to prevent them from their goal - he had to admit they were difficult to deal with. He swims through the realm with much stealth as possible, however his efforts would prove to be futile.

Eyes widen with surprise when a ceruledge teleports in front of him. He clicks his tongue in irritation, fully aware of how exceptional they could be in battle after his brief encounter with his fathers. Asriel was flustered with how he was spotted yet once again, he felt fully confident in his capabilities but no matter where he went there always seemed to be a league member not to far behind.

Backing off for now, his head turns to face the ceruledge's trainer - unexpectedly who was a young women. Asriel chuckles at her request his expression shifting to an amused one.

"How silly of you to ask that from your enemy, blondie." His voice transitions to sound more grim staring at the woman with piercing unforgiving eyes. Faintly whistling a soft tune, Asriel's luxray lurks behind Annalise and her pokemon patiently waiting for it's masters signal to attack.

her hopes that Asriel Pryde is a civilian are dashed by the laugh that leaves his mouth. rocket, her mind supplies, the acknowledgement making her stomach flutter. her ceruledge takes measured steps towards the man as he backs off. annalise steels her expression as he whistles a note, hands curling into fists at her sides.

The corners of Asriel's lips curve upwards into a subtle smirk. He found messing with inexperienced rangers to be quite pleasing - and his initial impression of Anna was that she was weak. Unprepared to be in a real battle, she was an unfortunate soul to have ran into him.

"Guess you'll never know, blondie." Asriel responds flatly, shoulders rolling into a uncaring shrug. The confusion seemed to have paid off - his luxray had inched close enough to initiate an attack. A swift head motion was all it took to get the electric feline to launch an all out attack on the ranger.

Electricity zaps around wildly, as the luxray races towards the woman with the intention of smashing her into the nearby wall with a wild charge

annalise doesn't cut a very imposing figure. [break][break]
even when she was head ranger, there's always been something soft about her. too kind, too carefully done-up in clothing and makeup. even here — especially here — she looks out of place against the background of war.

she hears heavy paws strike the ground behind her, feels the static lift strands of hair like an omen of oncoming lightning. her hands clap together once and she disappears.

her ceruledge appears where she'd been standing, bracing with her arms crossed as electricity crackles across her ghostly armor. the bodily thrust of the luxray's wild charge sends her skidding backwards, striking the wall hard enough to send gravel and dust raining down on them both.

the ally switch materializes annalise in front of Asriel Pryde . as her sneakers find purchase on this new ground, she swings her fist at his face.

The luxray growls with displeasure, a grimace written on it's face as it expression twists with pain from the recoil of the wild charge. Retreating when debris begins to fall around them, it stands guard against the ceruledge having the intent to block if it attempts to interfere in it's masters battle.

The sudden ally switch catches Asriel off guard, it was quick thinking on the rangers part - it was a mistake to underestimate her. Asriel curses under his breath realizing that he wouldn't be dodge the punch. Anna's fist makes contact, and there was more strength to her then he had been expecting.

Stumbling backwards his vision and mind is shaky, he coughs up blood along with a tooth. Groaning heavily he pulls himself back together within a few moments. "Not to bad for a girl." he states with a huff spitting out more blood. Without a warning he launches himself back towards Anna, he charges at her attempting to kick her knees.

the punch connects. annalise draws her hand back towards her body, shaking off the impact with a flick of her wrist. adrenaline numbs the pain where she cut her knuckles on his teeth and blunts the indignant anger she should've felt at Asriel Pryde telling her she's not bad for a girl.

he lunges at her and she yelps as pain runs up her leg like electricity from the force of his kick. favoring her injured knee, she tries to close the distance with arms outstretched. she reaches out to curl her fingers into anything she can grab onto, any part of him she can try and drag him to the ground with.

meanwhile, annalise's cry of pain breaks the shaky ceasefire between ceruledge and luxray. the ghost-type pushes herself out of the hole she's made in the wall, swinging a fiery bitter blade at the electric-type to absorb some of its essence.

His taunts didn't warrant much of a reaction from her. Asriel had a bad tendency, where he talks to much to his enemy. Before he could spit out any more insults Anna takes him by surprise again. Her hand tightly gripped onto his hair and there's nothing he could do as she forces him to the ground face first with brute strength.

Asriel moans with pain, spitting up blood and dirt as he coughs. His face grows red with anger "You little bit-" his words are cut short by an intense rumbling. He glances upwards to see that the terrain around them was beginning to crumble. It was the result of their pokemon's battle. The cerluedge's bitter blade caused his luxray to slam into a unstable area of the cave.

"Fuck this." He states quietly to himself, stumbling back up all his thoughts were redirected on getting out of here quick as possible. "You'll have to catch me if you wanna stop me" He tells the ranger with a twisted chuckle. Asriel then whistles sharply into the air, a signal for the luxray to retreat.

The luxray growls deeply, electricity flowing from it's paws as it sends a thunder wave towards the cereludge to paralyze it to escape successfully. It then makes a dash towards the shadows fleeing from the battle. Asriel then cracks open another pokeball, a kirlia is quick to appear besides him.

"Teleport!" The command is stated with fury and within a flash the Kirlia manifests her psychic energy to teleport both of them away from danger.

her fingers curl around tangles of white hair, turning white-knuckled as she uses it as leverage to pull him towards the ground. he lands face first onto the cavern floor, then she loses her balance on her bad leg and comes tumbling down beside him with a sharp gasp of pain. she pushes herself up onto all fours, but the shudder of the cave around them makes her pause.

Asriel Pryde gets up first. she follows him with some difficulty, standing with an unsteady shift as her weight leans onto the knee he kicked. for a guy whose face is bloodied up by a girl, he still addresses her with more confidence than he should.

"give up now," she says through gritted teeth. "i'm sure the league will — "
[break][break]
his whistle cuts her off. she lunges for him again, but his kirlia teleports him away and her hands find purchase on nothing this time. she stumbles a few steps forward, then turns towards her ceruledge.

"shit."
[break][break]
her ceruledge tries to give chase to the retreating luxray, but each slow step is accompanied by a painful crackle of static that leaps in arcs across her armor. she reaches for a new pokeball and releases her altaria, signaling for her to try and spot the electric-type. [break][break]
annalise returns her ceruledge and tries to follow after, albeit more slowly.
