he needed to put more into this fight than he would.

a diluted SPRINGTIDE STORM erupts around one of the close-knitted strikes of his fist, using their compromised position to ensure maximum effect.

it's enough to knock him back, causing him to stumble along the ground.[break][break]

this, unknown to him, was key in saving his fucking leg from blowing up. but it didn't spare him the shrapnel.

"cover yourself!" he urges to comfey, and she erects a more-focused barrier around his forearm.

tossing his arms into an X-formation over his chest, he has but a moment to consider the pain, before sharp rocks pelt his flesh. it's over quicker than he expected, but the ache of his wounds is deep, and his exhaustion only deepens.

but greyson stops holding back.

"go fuck yourself."

with a shaky-hand he grabs for a pokeball, but it's not required - she only needs his intent.

a delphox takes the field, her maw lifted in snarl, eyes narrowed in challenge. autumn doesn't wait for greyson's command before a plume of MYSTICAL FIRE unleashes itself from her wand directly towards the man.

sick satisfaction curls the corners of his lips as he watches debris pelt against their flesh. the feeling is relished for as long as it lasts until he suddenly has to defend himself against a delphox.[break][break]

with only mere seconds to decide what to do, he raises a hand, feigning surprise when the wall of earth doesn't form in time. it covers parts of him, though not enough to stop the MYSTICAL FIRE from burning his arm.[break][break]

flesh sizzles, pain surging across his side.[break][break]

in return, he slams his foot into the ground, sending out EARTH SPIKES one after the other that look to pierce into the delphox.[break][break]

delphox leaps back quickly, taking shards of shrapnel similar to greyson, but her thick fur is far better suited to tanking than skin.

her anger seeps through, and the tip of her wand responds a bright purple. PSYCHIC energy lashes outward in a wave, with the sole purpose of lifting matias up, and away from the earth.
