"Thanks for making time for me!" Mint chirped at the head scientists as he helped bring out the unown from their locks case. He looks at the labels, reading through before stopping at the D and picking it up with a grin. The primal handheld Lulu Flint and Rory Faust had kitted for him in his other hand. [break][break]

"I'm excited! It the little guy can cut a whole through universe's for Father Winter, maybe we can persuade it to do so for us? Then I'll check the primal energy ready the lab's rekit for me and try to find that other primal point thing." Mint said, reiterating the experiment out of sheer giddiness. [break][break]

Kyurem research was all well and good, but more so, he was excited to get clsoe to one of the last remnants of Father Witner in Hoenn. The otome route they'd all played had not been enough.

One of the DRK Triad's Unown. Ever since Dr. Holo had sneered in her face, so certain the people of Hoenn would find no way to avoid their apocalyptic fate, Nomi had hungered for a chance to study one.[break][break]
"All Unown have access to a dimension unique to them," Nomi commented, eagerly taking the cage from mint frost and bringing it over to a nearby lab table. "Therefore, it is possible for any of them to 'cut a hole through the universe', as you put it. But whether or not we can learn anything about why this Unown pledged its loyalty to Father Winter...that is what I am most interested in."[break][break]
Unown were highly intelligent creatures despite their simplistic forms. The fact that they chose to mimic the symbols of human language spoke volumes. Nomi had become obsessed with figuring out how to earn the trust of the Unown. Choosing to obey Rocket or the DRK Triad: it would come down to what was offered...naturally, the Unown that Rocket had secured first were loyal to them, and the Unown that the DRK Triad had secured first were loyal to them. But could Nomi convince one of the DRK Triad Unown to change sides? Perhaps Father Winter's Unown could be won over...and then used to spy on the DRK Triad's whereabouts instead. A spy turned spy against its original partners.[break][break]
"Is there anything specific we should start with?" She asked Mint.

"Really?" Mint echoed before frowning. "That'd make the Hoopa dimension harder to find, wouldn't it? Unless an Unown can jump there too?" he asked. After all, DRK Traid hadn't opened that hole and swallowed up Kyurem. It's been Hoopa Untamed- Unchained- something like that. [break][break]

"Well...Unown are pokemon still. They have unique powers to themselves but alone they're kinda weak. Anyway, they're still pokemon." he said before pulling out some poke treats from his bag. "And pokemon are still creatures with opinions and loyalties. Maybe we can sway it by just...bonding with it. Like any other pokemon?" he suggested. [break][break]

Father Winter was a charming personality after all. To Mint anyways. "I guess just asking it to open portals would be a start. Maybe it's a very specific command since dimensional portals could be potentially taxing for them?" he added wit ha shrug. [break][break]

"Oh! I have my own Unown as well. Maybe they could help make the Unown D feel comfier?" he suggested as he reached for his own pair. An X and O appeared in a flash of light. "Xavier, Ophelia help put in a good word for us." he said to the creatures as they floated in the lab curiously.

It had never occurred to Nomi to...tempt Unown with treats. But why shouldn't she? Perhaps they had an appetite for snacks like all the rest. They didn't beg like some of her other Pokémon did, but they certainly had...preferences. She'd started to notice the subtle differences in personality between her Unown. It made logical sense, then, to try what Mint was suggesting.[break][break]
"Yes, I've been trying to figure out what their agenda is," she commented. "Bonding with them...earning their trust...it has been my top priority as of late."[break][break]
Nomi released two of her own Unown: an N and a K. They floated over to the others; together they did not spell anything specific just gibberish. All the same, seeing a collection of five Unown together like that sent a thrill of excitement through Nomi. Mint was right: alone, the Unown were nothing to marvel at. Together, however, they could alter the very fabric of reality.[break][break]
But how to convince them to do it for Rocket? That was the question.[break][break]
"Cute names," she remarked. "I've been calling these Nu and Kappa respectively."[break][break]
As the Unown circled around one another, as if sizing each other up with their giant, singular eyes, Nomi met Mint's eyes, expression curious. "The DRK Triad has many agents. Why does Father Winter interest you in particular?"

"Maybe they're independent...until Arceus calls for them anyway." he said with a small shrug. Though perhaps that didn't align with the info given to Nomi by Dr. Holo. He picks out some treats and although he doesn't see any mouths he sets the treats out for the Unown. His own X and O seem to known the drill, using HIDDNE POWER to bring the treats and float them around the group offering them up. [break][break]

Mint grins at the Head Scientists. "Thanks! Oooh, I usually use Greek letters for combat. OR the phonetic alphabet." he replied. Her question gives him pause before he smiles brightly despite the horrifying circumstance he was about to relay. "A year-ish or more Father Winter did that whole Letter to Father winter thing? I got to meet him in Dewford." he began. [break][break]

"I'd seen him there and in that world- Sea Hoenn?? Hoenn of the past? I got my Phione egg and I saw...pirates and locals- I met my Lapras? I went on a date with him?? I wrote that letter half drunk." he rambled before shrugging. "He's like Malcedona in the sense he's either got a very strict moral code of his own under Arceus, or he's just too curious for his own good. If there was ever a member to target for more intel on that universe's Arceus, the mechanics behind their powers, their relationship with the Unown, etc. I think he's the next best thing to Malcedona." Mint explained. [break][break]

He'd clearly thought a lot about this. If only because he just really wanted to see Father Winter again.

Went on a date with Father Winter? Had she heard that right?[break][break]
Mint's voice had taken on an excitable, eager quality. It seemed he was quite passionate about the subject of Father Winter; it reminded Nomi of how someone sounded when they were talking about a person they had a...well, a crush on.[break][break]
Nomi giggled, clasped a hand over her mouth to stifle it. She knew a thing or two about having feelings for someone else; therefore, she could recognize Mint's yearning to see the man again.[break][break]
"Why Mint, you're attracted to Father Winter, aren't you?" She flashed him a knowing look. "You like him."[break][break]
Perhaps as a Rocket Head Scientist, she ought to be worried about the potential complications of one of their own having intimate relations with a member of the DRK Triad. At the same time, if Mint could get close to a man like Father Winter, then perhaps he could relay useful information back to Rocket. It truly depended on the nature of the relationship that developed between them. In any case, Father Winter - well, his body anyway - was missing. Unfortunately for Mint, Nomi doubted he would see the man again any time soon.[break][break]

"I do agree that it would be advantageous to better understand Father Winter," Nomi added, tone more serious again. "Any suggestions for how we go about doing that?"

Perhaps he should've been more careful speaking of Father Winter, but it wasn't like his loyalties would waver. Not when his role model was jayden cross himself, a man so committed and steadfast in his beliefs of Rocket that he'd do anything to protect the organization. Still, when the Head Scientist calls him out for it he gasps softly covering his mouth with both hands and blushing fiercely. "I- Well I-" he blurted out taken aback for a moment before trying bullshit his way out of this one. [break][break]

"I ca-can't deny he is ra-rather handsome." Rocket member's distaste for the strange gambler notwithstanding. The heart wants what it wants. And unfortunately for Mint, he seemed to like them older and a little unhinged. Tragically. [break][break]

"I do like his potential t-to our cause." he added, carefully reframing his interest despite turning a tomato red as the insinuation of his attraction to the strange DRK Triad member. [break][break]

He cleared his throat as she moved along. "Well, like any point of contact, building that kind of trust takes time and a little sacrifice. I don't...know what that man may be interested in. Just that he likes to play games." he stated with a small shrug. "Much like his first appearance in Hoenn, building up a list of resources we are willing to lose might be beneficial. Baiting him with something to gain. willing to risk gambling with him. You know..." though he couldn't possible fathom what the man may care for other than their own intel. Which is difficult for agents that seemed to know everything. [break][break]

He coughs again. "Also seeing him. More often. I think would- erm help immensely." he's blushing again, trying to remain calm despite the obvious ulterior motives. Even if it was how one built contacts. As he's saying this his Unown are busy chirping at the Unown D. A few more treats are floated over to it and the groups seems to have floated off, bumbling aimlessly through the room. "I understand the risks but, how often do you spend time with them, Nomi?" he asked gesturing over at the Unown D.

Nomi found Mint's embarrassment endearing, but she had enough social tact not to push him further on his attraction to Father Winter. Nomi knew what it was like to have unrequited feelings for someone else: at best it wasn't easy, at worst it was a torment. So instead of continue to tease him, she focused on his final question, the one about the Unown.[break][break]
"Spend time with them? Why, every day," she answered with a delighted smile. "They are my primary companions these days, and I think I've finally begun to understand them. Their mannerisms, gestures, moods. They don't express quite the same way most Pokémon do, but they do have ways of communicating with us."[break][break]
If Mint's tone had taken on a measure of affection as he'd talked about Father Winter, Nomi's carried a similar fondness for the Unown.[break][break]
"They are dangerous, of course, but less so when they are alone. It is the collective that must be handled with caution." Her eyes found the Unown-D and she watched as it bobbed slowly up and down. Nervous energy. It was an outsider to Rocket's Unown.[break][break]
A sudden idea occurred to her.[break][break]"The Unown have their own dimension, you know. They can create portals to and from it. I wonder if Father Winter's Unown could be persuaded to take us there...find him by teleporting to his current location?"[break][break]
His body's current location, to be exact.

Mint nodded. "You're really bonding with them, yeah? That's good." He nodded over at his own, who seems friendly and energetic. At least, that's what Mint thought watching their frenetic movements and high pitched chittering. [break][break]

"I was talking more about the eyes, thing. Remember the last DISSEMINATE?" he said pointing at his own pale green eyes. "Though, now that I say it out loud...wonder if they put out any sort of weird vibes when they're being used as windows?" he added with a small shrug. After all, that would be Arceus, allegedly, resonating with them right? "Unless I misunderstood." But he is 90% sure he hadn't. [break][break]

"They do?" Mint asked, perking up when his companion does. "Maybe...if we bribe it?" he said, grinning softly. "Have you been? To the Unown Zone, I mean. Is it like being in Dream Mist?" Mint added. He's already patting himself down for the basics, just in case. Xavier and Ophelia wouldn't let him down, but it never hurt to be prepared. Especially for a weird field trip like this.

Nomi couldn't help but laugh, just a little. The Unown Zone? Mint was, as always, reliably entertaining.[break][break]
"No, I haven't been to the Unown Dimension," she responded, amused. "Whatever it's like, I don't think it's quite the same thing as the Interdream Zone."[break][break]
She'd brought Unown with her into the Ultra Deep Sea. They had helped her find Dream Mist, but didn't seem to...resonate with it, or anything like that.[break][break]
Nomi thoughtfully considered their options.[break][break]
"I don't think bribery is necessary," she decided. "But I think it may be difficult for us to travel through portals as the DRK Triad does unless we...figure out how to connect with the Unown the way Underboss Del Mar used to." She paused. "He had a connection to them akin to Avatarship. Perhaps we simply need to figure out how he did it."[break][break]
Nomi wasn't necessarily in pursuit of legendary powers for herself, she merely liked the Unown...felt a kinship with them. Small, seemingly harmless creatures, often underestimated and yet...capable of altering reality. If she could find a way to do the later, how much easier saving Hoenn might become...[break][break]
No, if anything, Nomi wished to give power to others - such as Beasts like Mint. She had attempted to create synthetic Terastallized powers in humans but that experiment had not proved fruitful. All she'd learned was that, if anything they'd been studying was akin to dream mist, it was Tera energy.[break][break]
"In the meantime, though, we can hunt for Father Winter in the rifts, perhaps. Maybe with the help of the Unown, we'll be able to find traces of the DRK Triad, since they often hop between universes."

"Hmm...that's a shame. You know about the GEOMANCY raid a while ago? Before the Tree of Life got wrecked by Necrozma? There was this Unown puzzle inside it but...I don't know if that's what you mean either." he said with a shrug. "I got a little bit of footage on it, I think. I didn't check the video myself it went straight to Lulu Flint ." he shrugs. [break][break]

"Del Who?" he blurted out unfamiliar with the name, before shrugging. If it was that important, he wouldn't have forgotten about it.
