For a hot minute, she really thought that was going to be the end. She could feel the heat from Gyarados's charging shot from a mile away, practically anticipating how it was going to cook her into nothingness.[break][break]

And at the last second- "Oh shi- eeeEEEEEEEE!" they went up in a vertical pathway. And she swore some of her hair just got burnt off by how close that was! "T-That was way too close!"[break][break]

Pratically deathgripping Michael at this point, she couldn't hold back the fear in her voice. "its super big, maybe its not as agile. Why not try making it nosedive into the rocks?!"

“Not a bad idea, Amy!” Navy leans into the dive. Rocks. Rocks, he looks around for anything that could suffice.[break][break]
There’s jagged formations poking out of the water. Navy contemplates the fact that these rocks only seemed to manifest after Amy made the suggestion, but he doesn’t dwell on it for now. As much as he fancies himself a romantic, he’s a practical man. People will ascribe all sorts of meaning after the fact.[break][break]
“You might have the making of a good trainer! I noticed you’ve got some pokeballs!” Ironsides falls into another small dive. Readying the Gyarados to chase after them in frustration.[break][break]

"I- of course I do! I am a trainer!" Akira couldnt help but cry out (even though, in reality, she wasn't a very good one). However, with little time to spare, she would revert back to terrified screaming as Michael actually took her advice.[break][break]

"Y-yeah! I have a team! Kind of of! Wait-" turning around to see what the Gyarados was doing. And... it was definetly still chasing them![break][break]

"Hey- wait! Didn't you say we were going to get back ALIVE?! That WAS the whole point of this Right???" Right?

“Yeah.” Navy agrees. “It’s alive for now. Thing like this. It’s big. Reminds me of one of the big monsters in the games my brother used to play.” He doesn’t consider his own words once they’ve left his mouth. There’s no time for anything but keeping Amy alive. He doesn’t consider how casually he drops a name usually reserved for reverence and melancholy.[break][break]
“Just gotta hurt the guy enough to knock him out.” Nave and Ironsides swerve. They swerve at the lost possible moment before they splat against a wall.[break][break]
Behind them, their pursuer has no such luxury. He slams into the rock. It’s a grand cascade of noise. A howl of pain. Anguish. Like running full tilt into a brick wall. He slumps against the sea. Navy can’t tell if he’s dazed or down for the count.[break][break]
Either way, he turns Ironsides and starts to fly away. Higher. Higher, out of this sea.[break][break]
Not that it can be over yet.[break][break]
“What kinda Pokemon do you like?” He asks to pass the time before the inevitable resurgence of their foe.

It was a swift end, the pursing pokemon not pulling up in time to evade the rocks. It was a horrifying sight to watch it clatter into the sharp terrain, spilling blood and unleashing a howl of pain...[break][break]

...Even if it was a figment of this guy's imagination, it was a sad sight to see. She could be mean, but death wasn't something anyone should deserve.[break][break]

As the trio begun to fly higher, Akira would let out a sigh of relief. She then begun to let go, unaware that the threats they faced weren't gone yet. "Oh, uh- I don't have any I particularly like. I adore my Umbreon, and... Mimikyu has their quirks. Uh-" she seemed to stumble over her words, what kind of pokemon did she like? "I don't really have a full team, so- I don't tend to pick favorites based on categories."

“Umbreon and Mimikyu, huh?” He asks as wind goes through his hair. He can see in Ironsides’s attitude that he’s tired. The little Pokemon probably wants to have a nap.[break][break]
Little does he know they’re not out of the woods just yet. Nothing stirs yet, but Navy can sense it coming. Not in any ESP sense, but it’s too simple. For a place like this, made from the essence of nonreality, it simply could not end this way.[break][break]
“I’m more of a dragon guy myself. Or I take in lunks like Ironsides. Meatheads like my Machamp or Lucario, too.”[break][break]

"-uhmmmm-" Was this like... small talk? Or was he trying to peek through her facade? Usually she was pretty perceptive about things like this, but she was too paranoid to think correctly. Ugh- fuck this place. Fuck literally everything about this. She was so going to take the best fucking nap in existence when she got out of this place.[break][break]

Thats if they got out alive. "...I don't quite know? I'll be honest, I'm a rather new trainer. I do eventually want to get Snorlax though. Having one will help reaching high places in my apartment..."[break][break]

“Machamp works great for that, too.” Navy observes. “I’ve got one. Guy’s so tall and has so many arms he can reach anything I ask him to. Good old Cassius.” He smiles at the thought.[break][break]
Smiles right it starts to rain blood down on them. From above, from an opening that seems to signal an exit from this place, the red Gyarados returns. Spilling out of the rift. Screaming like it means to devour them whole. Coming out of the rift like a snake that got stuck in a garden hose. Launching beams down at them.[break][break]
The senses of the man who resolves to one day be Top Champion kick in. If he dies to something like this, how the hell could he ever hold a candle to Lopez? He pulls on Ironsides’s reins, leading him to the side.[break][break]
“Hold on tight!” Navy yells as he barrel rolls through the air.

"Yeah, I suppose that works as well-" She found her words coming to a halt as the rift above them opens, revealing the motherfucking pokemon that was SUPPOSED to be dead. A yelp would escape Akira, before she grapped ahold of Michael again for dear life.[break][break]

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" She couldn't hold back her frustration as she turned her head to look at the pursing pokemon. "Did we just kill that thing?! Ugh- this place SUCKS!"[break][break]

Looking around the sky they were flying through, she saw the figment of... something in the distance. "Hey, am I seeing things? Do you see that over there?!" Oh no... please dont be another piece of nightmare fuel...

“Hey, that’s no way for a lady to talk.” Navy chides her while a leviathan chases them. Back to business as usual. Back to being chased. He feels like an old hat at it after the past five minutes of his life. He sees what she’s talking about, and he resolves to fly over. See what it is.[break][break]
“Here’s hoping that it’s something that’ll keep this guy distracted long enough for us to fly into the rift up there.” He leads Ironsides close. The Gyarados lunges. Tries to bite them. Ironsides goes up. When Gyarados soars up, he soars down in a brilliant tumble. The steel bird has a grace that would put Mauville’s race to shame.[break][break]
“Man, I wish my bud was here! He loves racing!” The shadowy thing draws close. Navy wonders what they’re about to see.

"Now is not the time to lecture anyone right now about language!" Akira was quick to shoot back, attempting not to scream more then she had to. "Not to mention that this situation is a bit extraordinary! If I'm going to die I'm gonna do it kicking and screaming!"[break][break]

She found herself deathgripping Michael's arm, turning her head to keep a glare glued to the pokemon chasing after them.[break][break]

"Well- is there anything else we can do to distract it!? Like, do you have anything to throw at it? I'd use Umbreon to disorient them but they're fainted!"

At Navy’s waist, one of his pokeballs wobble. One of his Pokemon seems to have something to say about Amy’s suggestion. Something has a plan as they near the rift.[break][break]
Cassius emerges in a stream of red light. The Machamp that Navy had just mentioned earlier yells the name of his species as he descends onto the Gyarados, swinging from its face tendrils. Navy, when that happens, has no word. The Machamp starts to wrestle the Gyarados, which utterly dwarfs him. She wasn’t expecting something to challenge her directly.[break][break]
Not only that, empowered by the mutations of the rift they neared, his fists seem to be coated in darkness. Four dark, extreme fists, all throttling the life out of the Gyarados.[break][break]
It’s enough to make Navy’s blood boil in the best way. He has to focus. They could leave, but to do that would be to sacrifice his Machamp, one of the few Pokemon that -he- has caught, one of the few he can truly call his own.[break][break]
“Two on one, huh? Pretty good odds. Alright, Amy. Good call, that rift’s helping out. We’re gonna turn around and show that think what’s up.” He shifts Ironsides around.[break][break]
The steel bird starts accelerating at a breakneck pace.

The sudden emergence of Machamp almost scared her into death. Usually half death would be used for such analogy, but Akira was already brimming rock bottom for what her sanity and patience could handle. She watched as the pokemon jumped off the back of their airborne carrier and landed on the Gyarados, beginning to beat the living hell out of them.[break][break]

It was quite the astonishing thing to witness. She really hoped she could get some really big pokemon one day...[break][break]

...The mutation Machamp was experiencing, however, did not escape her. "Will they be okay?!" She asked, her tone mixed with confusion and worry.

“I dunno.” Navy and his Machamp both shared an understanding of something when they went into this battle: there was a chance they wouldn’t come out on the other side. The trainer can’t say what’ll happen when the Pokemon makes it out of here alive, if he does at all. All he knows is that Cassius is giving his all to this fight. One hundred percent. No. Beyond that.[break][break]
One of the massive champion’s four arms takes a break to extend up to Navy and offer a thumbs up. It’s like this Pokemon, a creature of another species who can’t even speak the human tongue, is trying to deliver unto him a message. Hope in this terrible situation.[break][break]
Never fear, young Navy! For -I- am here![break][break]
That’s what he takes out of this.[break][break]
“Maybe, maybe not. Maybe we’re all gonna die from being here. Maybe we’ll bloom with cancer ten years from now. Only thing I know is that I’m not dying right now,” Ironsides drops into an attack vector, “and neither is he.”[break][break]
Skarmory and Ironsides are both brave creatures. Ironsides strikes with the bladed edge of one wing. Putting his all into the attack, to the point of self-harm, digging the sword feathers deep into the Gyarados’s flesh while Machamp is riding him up above. The two pronged assault makes the creature scream and blast off another hyper beam at nothing in particular.[break][break]
The pressure from the blast sends Navy, Ironsides, and Amy tumbling.[break][break]
“Come on, you old goat! We’ve gotta get back in there!” He orders his bird while he tries to straighten out before they go into a complete freefall.
