Again and again, while Matias' thoughts entangled themselves with the threat of ollie morales, hers returned to Elisabeth. To the promise he'd broken. Back then, when confronted by the lie he'd spun, he had revealed it was to hurt her. To force her to feel the way he did.

Sometimes, that answer was enough to subside the doubt that festered beneath the surface. But sometimes, it sounded no different than another temporary antidote to cure the symptoms, but never the root cause.

In a blink, her demeanor transformed, earning itself the innocent warmth that screamed Penny, not Livy.

The pool of crimson did little to squelch the queasy sensation across her stomach. Still, she pressed forward, the bite of her lip enough to surpass the discomfort.

The crusted HATRED of a betrayal so deeply laced through her veins broke free, spilling over, like oil cutting through water. Still, she maintained the soft mask of worry. Like a thick blanket, it looked to conceal what bubbled beneath the surface, strengthened by the legitimacy of its sprawled roots.
