THE ULTRA CRATER IS A LARGE EXPANSE UNDERNEATH A YELLOW SKY. In between thick, almost impassable jungles, craters filled with green fields and alien plants lay. What appears to be metal pipe-like roots grow out the rock of crater walls. Geysers dot this alien landscape, occasionally expelling shrieking steam.[break][break]

The world is frequented by earthquakes, causing odd red monoliths of rock to quake throughout the realm. Oddly, the Ultra Thicket possesses very fertile soil. In the distance, a large mountainous expanse can be seen, though the range does not seem too high.

[break][break] they'd been traveling through the forested area for quite some time, the air blurry with smog as the sun gnawed a whole in the sky. an endless expanse of yellow greeted them as the trio wandered through the ULTRA CRATER.

[break][break] it was not the first of the worlds that jayden had experienced, but after his adventures in the borders, he was bound to be anxious. he was glad to have the company of both bryan delarosa and Felix Gallagher, knowing them to be reliable sources in case things went wrong.

[break][break] once more, he wields his one of the swords of his DUOBLADE as he slices through the bamboo stalks.

He looked at Jayden slicing with the blades, shouldn't it be him? It would certainly be easier for him to chop through the wood but he wasn't gonna complain. "Wow this place really is like...a jungle. A freaky bamboo jungle. It reminds me of that dimension inside the tree of life." he comments reminiscing his time adventuring to find Xerneas.

The occasional quake of plate sliding against plate allowed rumbles to leak out all around them. During these moments of instability, felix would grab onto a jutted-out truck or branch, all while urging the other two to do the same.

For now, stability had been blessed onto them, allowing safe travels.

At least, somewhat.

"Yes."

Despite the confidence in his voice, there were no guarantees. Their compass was confusing, their map was old - there was no telling which way led upward or downward or both.

"I think."

the sword slices clean through the bamboo stalks, falling into the dirt.

[break][break] "what dirt?" he asks, glancing towards bryan. a gleam of resentment flickered at the memory of Remiel Calcifet, hands reaching out for a nearby branch when the earth shook beneath them. every five minutes the ground would rumble and shake, but at least for now, the ground remained stable enough to walk on. jayden continued, with ease, not realizing that he could've utilized the beast for such a task.

[break][break] support had been ingrained to his behavior.

[break][break] jayden continues cutting his way through the dense forest of bamboo, his blade slices cleanly through another pair of stalks with ease. however, as he took a step forward, he nearly stepped on a cluster of sudden sprouts that have grown out of the ground. he jumps back in surprise, but it's too late. the edge of his foot had already brushed against one of the sprouts, and suddenly, they erupt in a burst of bright green light.

[break][break] the explosion is blinding, and jayden is momentarily stunned by the sudden blast. hjis eyes widen as the bright green light fills the air, casting eerie shadows all around him. the light swaths into shadow and form into the shape of something eerily familiar — before jayden realizes what it is. [break]

04 encounter baby celesteela in the ground as obstacles. if they are touched, they will summon kartana to attack you.

"ultra beasts!" he shouted, immediately as the group of UB-04 slash down a AERIAL ACE. jayden's doublade appear, casting out a WIDE GUARD.

A baby celesteela? He had heard stories as to why his Kommo-o became shadow...it seemed like a celesteela was responsible for it. He kind of just shrugs at jayden cross 's question but in reality, he didn't want to answer in front of Felix Gallagher . [break][break]

He sees the Kartanna rushing at them and Bryan grins, his silvally leaps out from behind him. "Law of the jungle right?! The strong survive and the weak-!" he says as he leaps into the air as the Silvally fires off a multi-attack at the kartana slamming it with several elements at once "DIE" he says as he slams down on the top of it. However, despite the fact kartana was greatly damaged thanks to it's ADVANTAGE AGAINST ULTRABEASTS, he still manages to collect himself in time to move quickly out of the way from Bryan's GROUND POUND attack as it times with an earthquake. [break][break]

It tries to slash at Bryan with a series of smart strikes, but jayden cross 's WIDE GUARD comes in in the nick of time and saves bryan from a myriad of painful slashes.

In a twirling mess, Felix's Metang released, evoking a rainfall of METEOR MASHES to rake the ground below. Each one aimed at striking down one of the rising Ultra Beast, all while the admin followed the other two out toward safety.

Together, he urged them further east through various shouts clawing over the chaos down below.

Only after they freed themselves from the baby celesteela, he'd have the time to actually check the map and compass again.

"..."

He gave the two instruments another look.

"Fuck."

The curse slipped out potent frustrations. He looked toward his sword counterpart.

"I lost where we were."

as his doublade releases a WIDE GUARD to defend them, another pokeball is released into the air. this time, it's his mimikyu materializing beside him.

[break][break] "marinka, immobolize them."

[break][break] swirling with the power of ephemeral energy, the mimikyu releases MIMIC YOU. shadows leap to their defense, wrapping around the ankles of the attacking ultrabeasts. that, along with Felix Gallagher and bryan delarosa's efforts, allowed them to escape.

[break]

utilize z-moves in an advantageous way.

moments later, away from everything, they get a moment to breathe. that's when another hurdle is presented to them —

[break][break] "let me see."

[break][break] jayden takes a look at the instruments, but as he does, his mimikyu catches up to them. a shadowy hand tugs at his sleeve and he looks down, then to where the pokemon points.

[break][break] a large crater stands before them.

[break][break] the admin blinks.

[break][break] "maybe we don't need to figure it out just yet. look."

The mimikyu cuts into his tango with the ultra beast who spoke backwards japanese. [break][break]

Seemingly trapping it for a while as they decide to make their escape from the beast instead of finishing it off. It's not his cup of tea or preferred method to handle his problems but it works none the less, he wouldn't argue it at this point. Last thing he needs is to regrow another hand. [break][break]

The arrive to the crater, the heat from it still emanating from something that had just freshly landed into the center of it. "Huh, what is it?" he asks wondering if Felix or Jayden had any clue. It seemed like a cape made of fire or something...bryan couldn't really describe it accuratelylike a bunch of ratata skins that despite being on fire never seemed to burn up or be consumed by the flames. [break][break]

"What do we do..?"

Words were etched into the bamboo stalks hidden in the ladle of the crater. To both the beast and admin's words, Felix approached it, silent in his steps to the writings.

"Look."

He eventually said, hand tracing over its carvings. Red rats made their place along the green studs.

But, with one delicate touch, fire bit back into his skin, causing Felix to recoil. He offered no mention of it to the others. Not more than what he originally gave.

"It's asking for something?"

felix bit back with a silent recoil, but the shield didn't need to say a word for jayden to know that it's surface had been damaged. coming up behind him, jayden crouched and reached for his wrist, pulling the injured appendage towards him.

[break][break] "you're hurt," he said, inspecting the finger. "i have something for that. here."

[break][break] from his pack, he removed wyndon's latest line of burn cream. it had been tested against a charcadet's flame, and was infused gently with comfey petals to create a sweet-smelling balm. he offered it to felix before glancing at the crater.

pulling out his phone, he took a photo of the crater.

[break][break] it was hard to discern from the bamboo stalks, which seemed dated, but a series of rattata-like creatures raced against the crater's inscription. they formed the sight of a crimson-red robe, which was not something jayden had ever seen.

[break][break] "at least right now. it seems like we'll have to come back once we figure out whatever it is that it's asking of us."

[break][break] he stands back up, looking at bryan delarosa.

[break][break] "you think xerneas would know anything about it?"

[break][break] the legendary pokemon was, after all, wiser beyond words.

"I doubt it. Even if he did, he's very cryptic and calculated, if he didn't want me to know he wouldn't. Probably say some stupid shit like "one thinks you will learn in due time" or some crap like that." as he mocks the deer's constant lording over bryan. [break][break]

But then again, if Felix wasn't able to handle the burning sensation.. maybe he could? "These bamboo stalks though...remind me of the ones we saw within the tree." he says as it may be useful to actually ask him. "One does not." a voice peers out from a nearby tree within the cascade of bamboo roots and xerneas ever so slowly steps out. His expressions stares down Bryan as he heard everything "You will hear what needs to be heard when necessary, Life Bringer." he says as Bryan's facial expression tries to remain neutral. [break][break]

"But One's thoughts may prove insightful. Those..."fire rats" seems to be linked to this crater. Maybe capturing them and bringing all the requested items will please someone." as Bryan shrugs and then nods "Sound's good to me...only problem is, how do we grab rats that are literally on fire.." as he stares at Jayden's cream that he applied to felix. [break][break]

"How good is that stuff?" he asks.

The layers of cream does wonders to sooth the biting burn on his finger. Shaking his hand, he glanced over at Jayden, then at the beast.

They speak for a bit, exchanging ideas on the riddle, but Felix does little to offer his own stance. Too busy rereading the gibberish etched into the bamboo.

It was only when Xerneas speaks does his eye falter from the bamboo stalk. They grew wide and his hands squeezed shut, turning pink into white.

He doesn't step in, he doesn't interrupt, but when a question came, Felix was the first to answer, terse as ever.

"It's good."

his lips twisted into a smile as he listened to bryan delarosa mimic his legendary diety. it was humorous seeing the beast use such formal speech — especially given how long they'd known one another.

[break][break] violet eyes shift towards chromatic deer as it stepped out of the tangled bamboo stalks. each time he saw the legendary, jayden was reminded of his own human-ness, which was only multiplied by the fact that this was the being of life.

[break][break] his words were wise, indeed, but of course difficult to decipher. although what he said was true — they would find out in due time.

[break][break] to the question, jayden nods. "would you like some? i can send some over to you both as soon as we get back."

[break][break] his head then tilts towards the crater.

[break][break] "i suppose we should get going then; we can brainstorm how to grab them on the way. we'll have to find them first."
