Boots lace and his hat on his head. Ghost enter this tournament to get better at fighting. No, he enters it to get his name out there. After all, he wants to rival even the elite four at this. Hell, even the Champion shall know his name. Maybe he was getting ahead of himself or maybe he was going down the right path.

But one thing was for sure and that was he was going to give this his all and then some. 
As he looked on he would be in the back room as he have gotten news he would be in the very first match. This was going to be something and on that note. As the very first match that means more than enough people were to be watching him. The big question is what Pokemon was he going to use this time around?

His first opponent was one who had learned much about riding a Pokémon from Josh himself: ghost fireheart . "...Wasn't expecting to run into you out here, Ghost!" Josh greeted from the back of his Shiny Pyroar, who let out a gentle purr toward his Ranger friend. "Did you learn the art of mounted combat from Finn's school, too?" It was a little disappointing he couldn't meet Ghost deeper in the tournament, but it was good knowing one of them would be moving on to the next round. "We shall see how much the student has learned from the master."

The rules were simple: combatants would be armed with a sword to try to make strikes on the rider, and a shield to block them with. There were five panels on the front of the shield, used for scoring. The first to break four of the five would move on to the next round. Falling off one's mount was an instant loss, and ties would be broken by decision. "I'm gonna be using Aslan! What about you?"

Josh??? Ghost was a bit surprised to see him here. But it was whatever. 
As his friend told him he was going to use fire type. Ghost never really thinks about what Pokemon to use until it's time. Looking on he would then say to Josh. "I will be going with Ric Royal seeing as he hasn't been in a battle since we got shot at." Ghost would say with a small frown in a comedic way. Looking on he would look up at the giant screen and see who he would be going up against. His eyes got bigger as he looked on to see it would be him vs Josh. Fate had a funny way of doing things. 

As he looked at Josh he would then say to him. "Well well well, it looks like it's us again. I do want to wish you good luck. As I entered this tournament weeks ago. So I have been preparing as a way to better myself against Team Rocket."

Wait, flying Pokémon were allowed in this tournament? That seemed hardly fair, with Aslan being able to move in only two dimensions and Roc Royal in three! He reviewed the rules, and there was nothing restricting flying Pokémon from participating. "Just because we're friends doesn't mean I'm going easy on you, you know," Josh retorted. "I'm just a little surprised they're allowing flying Pokémon in the joust is all. Good luck, and may the best rider win."

With that, the two met on opposite sides of the battleground, surrounded by spectators cheering them both on. Even some of Josh's Gym staff had come down to watch the Master of Faster in action. With his sword in his right hand and a large shield strapped to his left, the Gym Leader spurred the golden lion toward Ghost and Roc Royal, his eye on the panel in the center of his foe's shield.

As his mother would put it. If he was not a Pokemon Ranger or Chaser. He would be a daredevil. As he would smile at Josh when he told him he would not go easy on him. Ghost knew he would have to bring his all especially since he was using two spears and no shield. 
Ghost always did things by the there is a key to the madness. Looking on at Josh as he was confused about how a flying type was allowed inside. That is when Ghost would say to him. 

 "Oh silly Josh the times have changed. Don't overthink it we both know that by allowing flying types more people will enter now then let's get this show on the road. By the way, because you are my friend I won't go easy on you like at all. Bam bam bam bam bam. No Bam No Life." As he said that he took his place and prepared himself for combat.

Ghost did have a point; by allowing flying Pokémon into the joust, it did allow for more varied entries. While the dragon's aerial nature did give Ghost some advantage, he would have to come down from the air to strike Josh eventually. "I wouldn't expect you to go easy on me!" With their words out of the way, a war horn sounded, the signal for the two to charge at one another.

Ghost was armed with two polearms, his targets instead on the padding he wore. His strategy was all offense, able to attack the racer's strong side and his weak side. Josh could attack only from his strong side, but he had a big shield strapped to his left arm. While the padding Ghost wore was thick, it was still risky to fight without a shield!

Spurring Aslan into a dash, Josh exchanged blows with Ghost at great speed, slicing broadaide at his opponent. Blade clashed with spearhead, and spearhead sparked with shield. The crowd roared at the loud sound of metal-to-metal contact. When the two turned around, Josh could see a big crack on the center panel, just as he had aimed. Not wanting to give up a lead, he reined Aslan toward Ghost's weak side, pivoting his body to try to get a better angle for his next cut.

Ghost would fly off as he took the hit. He took this challenge as a joke a little. As he looked on he would give a smile and lick the little relish spit coming out of his mouth. He was all set to to go again. 
But this time he took his time as he prepared to go at it again. As he looked on he would have Roc Royal fly in the sky. As his dragon type did it would fly overhead. 

Gaining more and more wind beneath his wings. As he looked down at Joah he would give a smile and then he would fly towards him. He would look on with his pole staffs. 

As Ghost would rush toward Joah. He would form a X with his staffs and then try to attack him at full strength. The attack would look as if he was cutting a pair of cutting knives making a X.

Josh's timely blow had unseated Ghost from his Salamence steed. Why, then, was the match allowed to continue? Did the refs just miss it? Rather chapped, he shook his head at the ref on his side of the jousting strip and had a heated conversation with the official. Under the thread of ejection, he backed off and continued the match, his frustration boiling over and enabling him to put extra power into his sword attacks.

As blade and polearm clashed, the back edge of Josh's weapon scored a hit against yet another target on Ghost's vest. That was two down!

With a massive lead, the young Gym Leader focused on playing the rest of the match defensively. With the Salamence taking advantage of its weight, as well as the gravity of its dive, he knew a direct hit would have a good shot at unseating him from his Pyroar steed. Rather than focus on scoring a third point, he would battle defensively, ready to spur his lion into DOUBLE TEAM at the last possible moment, using Ghost's momentum against him.

It was a crazy ride for the duo. As Ghost went flying away. This was starting to get fun and fun for him. Josh clearly knew what he was doing and Ghost was not even close. 
Yet he was not going to give up and the sun was beaming as hard as ever. 
As he looked down at Josh and his fire lion. Ghost would be 50 meters high above them. 
He would then point at Josh and snap his fingers.  "Awww man Josh you one hell of a rider my guy. I wonder will you use that Pyroar in our fated duel? It seems you know more about Pokemon than I first thought." 


Soon as he said that Roc Royal would feel Ghost pressing down on his head. As Ghost looked on he would give a smile and then point his long spear at him the duo down below. He was going to get a hit in one way or another.
Soon Roc Royal would launch down at the team and he would do it with quick speed. 
It was now or never as Ghost aimed for Josh's chest. No mercy for them friends or not. Ghost could not go at like a lame to them.

As Roc Royal soared high above the jousting strip, Josh raised his shield to cover from the aerial attack. He kept a close eye on his opponent, unable to hear a word that Ghost said due to the great distance between them. "Come and get me," Josh said to himself, readying his own sword against the charge.

The Salamence's dive had incredible force behind it, sparks flying from the metal-to-metal contact that made Josh's left palm sting. The wooden scoring panel, now dislodged from the shield, slid down it. Shaking his head, he now had greater respect for the power behind mounted combat. Even defending against such a high speed attack could put one's shield arm out of commission.

Even Aslan reared and backed away. The specially-crafted saddle kept Josh from falling, but it was clear that a little more force would knock him off. He reined the fire-type erratically about the strip in an attempt to confuse the Salamence and opponent before making a strike at one of the remaining scoring targets.

Alas Ghost and Roc Royal would land a clean hit. It was more then feeling for the duo. 
He knew what was about to happen next. As the duo was still low to the ground. The sun was shining and Ghost was all smiles. That hit help boost Roc Royal moral. Ghost would now be set to take yet another charge. But this time he was going to even up the score points.

As he ready himself for Josh and his mighty fire lion. Ghost would look on and with his two lance. He would make an X with them. Now it was looking like he was holding a pair of siccors. As he saw Josh ready to attack as well. He knew he was aiming to end things. But Ghost was no fool. 
He was crazy and crazy needed to be counter with crazy. Just as he thought that. He would then give Roc Royal the ok to zoom ahead. 
Ghost was going all out and he meant that.

With the sun's angle changing, Ghost and Roc Royal had the ability to hide there, the glare making it difficult for the Gym Leader to see the soaring dragon and jouster. As the two collided with great force that threatened to knock him off his Pyroar steed, the lion let out a loud roar that rattled Josh. That blow hurt his shield arm; though it saved him from being skewered due to the extreme force behind the dragon's dive, the scoring target nearby had been badly damaged. Even a rough gallop could cause the thing to shatter, scoring a point for his rival. It held for now.

Though his left arm stung still, the Gym Leader wasn't going to give up the opening his parry created. He thrust his own weapon toward the last easy-to-reach scoring target, which split in two and hit the ground with a thud. It was match point, and Josh had a couple to give. He readied his stance, ready to slam his heels into the lion's sides for his fastest charge yet.

This was pretty fun if you asked him. For a rematch it would not be a no. 
Ghost would give a smile as did Roc Royal. This could be it this could be the Grand ending of things. He did not have no problem with that and he was alright with it all in the end of it all. Ghost would would then squeeze his Salamence sides. A clear sign to go and attack from above. 
Ghost was not going to go out not without a fight. 

As the wind picked up it was on and it was show time. The sounds booming off his dragon wings where that of Thunder. The mere weak would coward his Roc Royal sight. As he took his double lance. He would look on and give a small grinning smile. As his room the right lance it would be pointing at Josh Chest. As the left lance would be pointing at Ghost belly. He was planning to tie this thing up or go out with a bang. 

Just then the duo would launch down and not be in fear. Of such a mighty roar that lion just let out. Although he would not like to be on a receiving end of that bite. 
If one was to look inside of Roc Royal and Ghost eyes. The pair would be burning with the spirit of victory.
