Hmm. No bowl. Strange. Eve raised an eyebrow at the sight. The Absol was clearly standing guard of sorts, that was not too uncommon. But usually they guarded a hat, a bowl or something else that people were supposed to put money in for street performers. It was a common practice just about anywhere. Naturally, her mother would probably disown her if she ever did that herself, but no one ever said anything about not encouraging the act. Eve had made a habit of at least tipping those she came across.

Hence, she had almost mechanically reached for some coin, only to realize that there was no venue for her to actually go through with it. She blinked, looking at the Absol, then at the dancer. He was no amateur, she could tell. Maybe he just did it for the exposure? Leaning back, Eve briefly took on a thinker’s stance while quietly watching him, not wanting to interrupt. Her poise did bely her upper-class upbringing, even in such a situation, but she was otherwise completely calm and nonchalant about it all, evidently not wanting to take any attention away from the boy she had come across by accident.

When Evette arrived Nebula eyed her before deciding she posed no threat to his partner. There were other people to keep an eye out for. Like those people who tried to cling onto the rising idol. Yes those people were the ones to look out for. He sensed nothing like that from the woman so he saw no point of alerting Jade to her presence.

Jade unaware of the others presence just continued his dance routine. It wasn’t until he was done and had turned around that he noticed the woman’s presence. A slight widening of his eyes was the only sign of his surprise and he shot a cursory glance at the Absol, only to see him completely relaxed, before returning his attention back to the woman.

”I didn’t realize I had company. But since Nebula didn’t alert me I can only assume you mean me no harm,” he said, gesturing vaguely towards the Absol when he called him by name. He decided not to bring up the other reason the Absol might have attacked her.

No reason to bring up some of the crazy people who tried to throw themselves at him. It wasn’t exactly a topic he wanted to get into. Especially with someone he didn’t really know. It did remind him that he’d never seen her around before.

He wondered if she lived in Mossdeep. If she did he’d be known the wiser since he usually only came here to get some sleep at his house and often left before anyone else really woke up. Today was just an exception. Since he’d decided he wanted to get some extra practice in.

Curious question that was. Did she live nearby? Well, her last real address was back in Kalos, but she had not been steadily back there in more than a year now. It would not quite feel right to consider that where she lived at the moment. On the other hand: if not there, then where? The only real answer was that technically she lived everywhere and nowhere, really. But that did not go anywhere, now did it? Curious a question indeed, indeed.

Just kind of pointless to invest much time into it right then. Instead, she gave a less insightful, but probably more useful answer. “Well, in a manner of speaking. My hotel is not far.” That alone should already give the young man everything he would need to know, at least in her estimation.[break][break]
Though his words were already interesting in a tad more of a confusing way. “You must be used to being accosted if that is something you notice right away. Guess you were not putting on a street show for money, then.” Now it was her turn to simply verbalize what she thought, much as he had. Eve saw no problem in that. He had started it in a fashion, after all.

She put a hand to her side, growing a bit more serious. “If you are not busking you probably should not do it in the open. At least not be this inattentive. I do appreciate the arts, but an artist always has to put their health and well-being first. I would not feel safe enough to get lost like that with just a single Pokemon for protection, really. Hoenn can be quite the dangerous place sometimes, from my experience.”

So she probably traveled from place to place. He supposed in a sense he did that as well. He just made sure to make it back to Mossdeep to sleep. ”I see, I assume you travel from place to place than,” he said that being the only reason that he could think of why someone would be staying in a hotel.

He probably should’ve brought something to drink but since his house was nearby he hadn’t seen a reason to. It would still do him some good to take a break before continuing with his practice though. Didn’t really feel like sitting though so he remained standing as he talked to the woman.

”Yes I suppose so, though Nebula here isn’t opposed to clawing at anyone or putting himself in between me and whoever to use detect. He’s also bigger than the average absol,” he pointed out moving her to pet the absol. ”I’ll try and be more vigilant in the future though.”[break] Evette Moreau

Well. She did not need much of a reason to pet an Absol, so when she was outright urged to, she obviously did. One day, she probably would get one of her own. But that was further into the future for now. This one already had an owner and was apparently quite happy with that one. Hence, Eve would never ever interfere with anything like that.

At the end of the day, she was only ever strict out of a desire to help others, after all. Being a jerk otherwise just wasn’t her. “You do assume right indeed,” she noted absent-mindedly while leaning down to pet the Absol. “Just travelling about the region, trying to see what I can.” And to find true love. Then again, she had not made any progress on that end in forever. It probably was just a naïve idea that she had considered a reason, even though it never truly had been one. [break][break]
That was just her kind of luck. “And I guess that is fine enough in a big city like this. Though there are always Rockets to worry about. They have gotten fairly brazen in recent months. Or so I heard.” She herself did not really get involved in that conflict. It just wasn’t her thing, really. At worst she would end up helping out with dangerous wild Pokemon, but that was it, really.

He watched her interaction with Nebula bit to ensure he wouldn’t try anything. Once he was sure he wouldn’t he would continue the conversation that he was having. ”Traveling? Have you only done so for this region? Or have you also visited some of the other regions?” he inquired.

”I’m originally from Sinnoh but I left at eighteen and spend a bit of time going from one region to another before finally settling into Hoenn,” he explained. It wasn’t really the whole truth but it would work. Besides he wasn’t about to get into a discussion about his father when someone he barely knew.

Hearing what she had to say he nodded. Though a sigh did escape him at the mention of rocket. ”Seriously why can’t everyone just stop being at each others throat. I’m in now way dismissing all the things rocket has done I’m just not big on all the fighting.“[break] Evette Moreau

“I spent quite a while in Alola, right before coming here. I also visited Johto very briefly. And I guess there was that one trip to Unova with my family, but that was years ago,” she mused, briefly tilting her head and thinking in the process. There had probably been a few more, but she was not someone who had been too aware of borders for most of her lives. One of the peaks of growing up in privileged family like hers.

It certainly wasn’t like this man. While she had ‘left’ Kalos back then, it had always been with the expectation of one day returning there. One day not too far into the future, really, but she was trying to procrastinate on that was best as possible anyway. A shift in topic helped with that too, at least in a little way. “Fighting is human nature, so I guess it will never truly stop. And this region seems to be a magnet for calamity anyway, so I guess nature itself is not going to let us just stop fighting and living normal lives. Well, at least to some degree, right?”

It sounded like she had grown up in a privileged family. He would be lying if he said he didn’t understand to some degree. While it was true that all of his father’s business ventures had been done in Sinnoh, his father had been very well off. The benefits of running your own business are supposed to.

However, unlike with himself, it seemed her upbringing hadn’t been as cold as his own. Unless, of course, her family was the type to try and come off as one big happy family to the general populace while being totally different at home. The latter wasn’t something he wanted to think too much about, so for now, he would assume the former.

“I’ve never really known what it was like to have a true home before coming here. My father was a businessman, and I spent my time going from one hotel to another in Sinnoh. I was arrogant in assuming that since I had spent my life doing that, I could strike off on my own. I ran out of both food and money at some point, and it was the kindness of strangers that helped me through the struggles of making it my own.”

In part, that was the reason he had been so surprised by Hoenn being at each other's throats. He had honestly felt he was back at square one. Sometimes he felt as hopelessly lost as he had when living with his father.

At the reminder about human nature, he sighed. “I like to believe that isn’t true about everyone. I mean, there are pacifists after all.”

Ahh, so he was that kind of rich kid. She had known some herself, naturally. The kinds that had always talked about getting away and making it big on their own as she watched them from afar, neatly following the plans laid out for her by a stern mother. Once, she had envied them. Then, looked down upon them. Then, envied them again. Ultimately, she had somehow struck a bit of a middle path that had led her to the here and now.

Though she figured that was only possible due to her pursuing the arts. If she had been born into a mercantile family like this one, she probably would have never been able to take any kind of sabbatical like the one she was on right then. The excuse of needing to find a muse was a strong one. Though even she knew that it would not last forever. “Sounds like you had quite the difficult time. I am not going to pretend I can properly understand.”

Doing that would have been a bit of an insult, after all. “I am glad that you found a proper home, though. That is one of the most important things in life, if you ask me.” She would never trade hers for anything. Even though she was kind of trying to stay away from there, she had no intention of ever fully breaking with her estate, after all.
