Why? They’re uncertain. They don’t ascend to the rift split across the sky above Sky Pillar. They simply…wander. The old ruins of the draconia people are quiet. Maybe it’s what they’re looking for in the wake of their injuries, in the wake of their frustrations. Their mounting resentment and fear of the unknowns that swirl around the region.

The roaring moon they’ve acquired is a beautiful creature, but still no exception to the rule. It is still an unknown and it trusts him as little as he trusts it. It did not graft to them as instantly as the flutter mane did. Perhaps that’s why he’s set it loose to the sky, watching it spiral around the pillar as it rises higher.

Maybe they’re both seeking something here. Maybe it’s better understanding. Maybe it’s a swan dive.

[attr="class","sam-banner-up-blurb"]In their mind, they’ve begun to refer to the creature as Meraxes. They’re not sure why, nor do they seek out an answer. It just feels like the right name to bestow the behemoth. They simply watch until it becomes a pale green speck in the sky near the top of the sky pillar.

From the ground, a goodra peers at them curiously. It reminds Fern of their own. But they do not whistle to hail Meraxes so that it will plummet down and take out the other dragon.

They turn away from it, and leave it be.

Just as Fern was deciding to retreat inside the ruins and out of reach of the territorial creature, that pinprick of seafoam green became visible again with hurtling speed as the roaring moon dive bombed back into view to slam into the opposing dragon with a brutal DRAGON RUSH. Fern paused, glancing over at Meraxes as it bellowed—unaware that even from the sky, it had been paying them mind.

[attr="class","sam-banner-up-blurb"]Havinf successfully driven off the opposing dragon, the roaring moon peered at fern. They simply watched it back, head tilting in observation before braving a few steps forward. It huffed, forked tongue darting as it scented the air around it.

“Meraxes.” they spoke quietly, hand lifting to settle on the flat of the massive dragon’s forehead as it lowered itself down to them. A rumbling, low in the back of its throat made fern smile. “Perhaps you and I will be fast friends after all.”

A curious dreepy darted out from among the ruins, perhaps thinking that Fern was referring to him instead. Clearly not a threat, Meraxes only huffed as he darted around the larger creature’s head before perching atop it. Never able to deny a dreepy, Fern laughed. “Yes. You too.”
