Even before the older male speaks they knows who it is. The smoke is one give away. The other is the shadow miasma that fills the room. His words give them pause and they turn their head towards the older male seeming to regard him for a minute. As if trying to decide their next course of action.

Cillian Quinn was an underboss of team rocket so they could probably trust him. They didn’t want what the looked like to get out. Until they complete accomplish their goals they couldn’t allow word to get out what he looked like. Couldn’t chance his parents finding out he was alive until he was ready for them to know.

The older male didn’t seem like the gossiping type though. So perhaps it would be okay to remove the mask in his presence. Though not until he was sure he wouldn’t go telling someone what he’d seen under the mask.

”On one condition, you keep what I look like under the mask to yourself.” He was right that removing the mask would make the work a bit easier. But he was use enough to doing everything with the mask on that he would be fine working with it on.

The teen figured if anyone would understand it would be Cillian. He had been the one to recruit them but back then it hadn’t been Cillian he had gone by but Gavin. For them it wasn’t as simple as them wanting to hide from other criminals. Though they supposed that would be a good reason. No their reason was to keep their family in the dark about them being alive, more so their parents.

It was hard not having at least their twin know. But it was too dangerous. They didn’t think their parents would come after them themselves. No they were much to cowardly for that. But they wouldn’t put it past them to pay someone to silence them permanently so they wouldn’t tell anyone what they had done, or what they hadn’t done they should say.

”Oh no nothing like that,” they said when the older male mentioned being disfigured. When Cillian brought up dahlia goode he made a show of looking down at where their chest was. ”Hmmm…..nope still not a blond woman,” they said a joking edge to their own tone.

When it was clear Cillian really wouldn’t breathe a word they took off the mask. Like they’d said not horribly disfigured. Though anyone who’d ever seen their twin would’ve easily been able to recognize them. Aside from different hairstyles they were a carbon copy of their twin. Of course when outside the base they deepened their voice since otherwise they would just be recognized by the sound of their voice, with it being so identical to their twins.[break] Cillian Quinn

They wondered what they should tell him. They’d already come to the conclusion that the older male was around for the long haul. That he wasn’t like the former rocket members who had turned traitor. Probably using the excuse of being captured as a reason for them having switched sides. Yeah some loyalty.

”You remember that I was in the final stages of recovering from injuries before I got here?” he inquired as he worked on getting another Shellder separated from the Slowbro it was attached to. With a knife it wasn’t to hard and he tossed the Shellder into a bucket.

Once they’d gotten confirmation they continued as they reached towards another Slowbro. ”Long story short parents cross the wrong person and I pay the price. And instead of helping me like the spineless cowards they are they ran, left me for dead. And for now I’d like them to think I’m dead,” they told the older male. They couldn’t come out as being alive just yet, they needed to get some things done first most of which involved their twin.

”As for why I hide even when I’m here. Well there’s a simple answer to that. I know there have been defectors. It’s to make sure those traitors can’t tell the league of my true identity,” they said. That and they looked just like their twin it wouldn’t take a genius to put two and two together.

Speaking of their twin they had decided not to mention them. Maybe one day they would talk about their twin. If Cillian didn’t somehow manage to run into their twin before that happened.[break] Cillian Quinn

”I never caught his name, my parents may know but I’m not ready to confront them yet,” they explained looking thoughtful. They did remember that apparently the guy was owed money. Being told constantly that kids were to be seen and not heard had often led to them snooping around places they weren’t suppose to be. Which was how they had learned of their father’s gambling problem.

The question made him frown. ”No aside from having money my parents weren’t real important. I know my father had a gambling problem though. Probably refused to pay the wrong person. There was nothing my parents cared more about than money,” they told him making sure to keep what they were telling him somewhat limited.

They had noticed his earlier reaction to the mention of defectors and they couldn’t blame him. Cowards the whole lot of them. The teen didn’t understand how people could so easily sell people out to save their own skin.[break] Cillian Quinn

The teen worked on releasing another Slowbro the knife they had making it easy and pretty soon the water type was freed from Shellder. He put the Shellder into a bucket while the Slowbro started to transform back into its previous evolution. He moved to work on another one but made sure to keep some of his attention on Cillian, so they could continue conversing.

Telling anyone about their family troubles so soon after joining hadn’t been what they planned. But considering Cillian had taken a chance of them they trusted him more than they did other members of Team Rocket. And they had only told him to explain why they hid their identity. But they still kept some things to themselves like the fact they had a twin.

Cillian probably assumed they were an only child. And if so they would prefer it stay that way. They didn’t care if he knew about their parents but considering the fact they wanted to keep their twin safe it was just best if no one knew they existed. But they realized that it would be hard to keep that hidden now that the underboss knew what they looked like.

When Cillian started speaking they turned their attention to him. ”Not really I can understand why they would be angry at my parents,” they told him apparently not seeing anything wrong with the fact the person had tried to kill him. ”Being betrayed is worse than almost getting killed.”[break] Cillian Quinn

They watched what the underboss did. They had been curious about how Kanto slowpoke could be turned into Galarian slowpoke upon hearing about the assignment when they had first joined. ”I expected there to be more science behind the whole thing,” they admitted as they watched the slowpoke start to turn yellow.

They watched for a few more seconds before working to deevolve more slowbro and slowking. As the man spoke they could tell that he too knew what it was like to be betrayed. While a bit curious they saw no point in asking. It wasn’t really their place. And it wasn’t like they had told the underboss everything either. Would it be fair to inquire answers themself when they weren’t willing to be fully truthful themselves. Not that Cillian would know of this since they had given no indication that they were withholding information.

”Traitors are no better than cowards in my book. A complete disgrace,” they said their tone neutral despite the contempt in their eyes when it came to traitors. ”I try not to let most things get to me because I don’t want to be controlled by my emotions. That’s when mistakes are made and people get sloppy letting their emotions control them. Traitors just rub me the wrong way, I’m fairly big on loyalty so people turning traitor just to save their own skin is one of the ways to me lose my cool and that’s saying something since I’m slow to anger.”[break] Cillian Quinn
