A team of unknown assailants have loosed a horde of Weezing within the confines of Nolan Gymnasium during the finals of the ICBA's A-Division high school basketball tournament. Several deaths have already been reported as security is overwhelmed, scrambling to escort as many people to safety as possible, but they simply lack the manpower to do so. Your mission is to thwart the operation and ensure as many people get to safety as possible. Athletes and staff participating or maintaining the game are to be prioritized.

Your mission objectives are as follows:

A) Neutralize the Weezing through whatever means necessary.
B) Unmask and confront the assailants behind the attack.
C) Secure the gymnasium's exits.
D) Aerate the gymnasium.
E) Assist in evacuating athletes, officials, and spectators from the gymnasium.
F) Minimize civilian casualties.

It is suspected that an official within Team Rocket is behind the attack. Please see attachment for a schematic of the Gym including exits to be secured. If you have a SYGNA SUIT, it is highly recommended that you wear it to handle the fumes. Do not be afraid to call for backup if you are overwhelmed; safety is our priority.

Shalin's heart raced as she touched down near Nolan Gymnasium. She could feel her Flygon mount's wings vibrating with extra power, able to feel the fever pitch of the dragon's emotions. Who in Team Rocket would stoop so low to attack teenagers like this? What was their motive? That wasn't her job to ascertain; that was best left to the detectives to figure out. At least she had caelum reinhardt backing her up.

This was the most dangerous assignment she had ever taken voluntarily. Meteno was more dangerous, but she didn't have a choice in that regard. Hopping off her Flygon's back, the wild child, dressed in her red-and-green, dragon-scaled SYGNA SUIT, turned toward her partner and pointed at the thugs stationed outside the sports hub's main entrance. "We got a plan? Might be best not to be subtle about this. It would be easy for my Flygon to use Boomburst or Bug Buzz to blow one of the exits open, but we'll only have one shot at it."

This had been one of the weirdest requests Aidan had received in his life, perhaps it really was an emergency and League needed a every abled body to help out. He was only travelling around the cities to learn the best spots, but here he was about to embark on a dangerous adventure for once. This was 100% something his brother would have been doing instead of him. [break][break]

Locking his phone after reading the email he'd start running towards the basketball arena, not before long he could see a big crowd filled with curious and worried people while a smaller but more frantic crowd was running out of the building like a pack of wild Tauros. Making his way through the crazy, erratic people he'd find himself within the arena itself, well-lit and loud, the speaker still blasting the music from the game. [break][break]

Finding himself next to his crime fighting partner for the day. "I like that plan! I'll try to get as many people out from that one exit! It might be too dangerous for me to use my fire pokemon around all the toxic smog so clearing things out should be the play!" All he had on him were fire types and he didn't want to set anything flammable while people were still trying to leave. [break][break]

Moving as fast as he could towards the exit he'd help kids and elderly people first while signaling a lot of people towards one of the exits. "THIS WAY EVERYONE! PLEASE EVACUATE AND CAREFUL WITH THE PERSON IN FRONT OF YOU! THIS WAY!" He'd wave his arms around as more and more civilians left till it felt safe to look towards the true problem, hoping that Shalin had cleared out her own crowd, but having full faith on a League member. Breaking out King, his Charizard and rushing towards Shalin Nariya ready to take on whatever was waiting for them inside the smog.[break][break]

The two had a plan, and a solid one at that. "Gonna use the emergency exit un the back of the gym. That way there will be a wide open field on the other side. Plenty of room to get everyone moved, cause I think shortly after we take action, things are gonna get ugly. We also need to handle the gas. I think I'm gonna do that by blowing open a second exit while you're helping evacuate people, and use it to shove the gas outside. By then, we'll probably have our hands full with whoever's behind this."

With that, Shalin took action. Hopping on her Flygon's back, she created a diversion. Heading to the rear of the Gym. she swooped next to the far emergency exit, catching one of the two masked thugs dressed in black. One of them hurled a Poké Ball containing a Weezing at the duo. Before the suspected Rocket could give a command, and could the other stationed at the exit could even react, Shalin commanded a BOOMBURST from her Flygon.

Even with her Sygna Suit protecting her, she could still feel the power behind the fastest, strongest vibration Sandy could produce with her wings. A layered series of sonic booms ravaged the ears of those present. It was a sign for caelum reinhardt to take action. The shrieking wings were audible throughout the entire campus and beyond, and the sonic explosions even farther. The double doors in back shot off their hinges, letting Caelum begin evacuating people. "Caelum, I'm gonna try to open the second one from within so we can blow all this gas out of the arena, over," she relayed through her comms, perhaps there being some static or crackling from possible equipment damage due to the vibration that coursed through her own body mid-Boomburst.

By the time she got to the secondary exit, though, she was already in trouble. The moment her Flygon started churning her wings again, the STENCH of several Weezing overwhelmed the insectile dragon. While Shalin's tight suit largely protected her from the musk-like smell, her Flygon was another story. Try as she might, the Flygon could not vibrate her wings fast enough for a second Boomburst. Three of them surrounded her, expelling POISON GAS. She could feel the recoil from her Pokémon coughing up a storm.

To the public eye and the higher ups of League, the two had probably done the most important part of their job. Well, Shalin's job. Caelum wasn't exactly under the League's payroll, not that he didn't want to be but because he hadn't exactly had the time to try and find a position to fill within their scientific branch. [break][break]

Now, it was time for the two to help themselves, Caelum would watch as Shalin took care of the criminals at the top but as she and her pokemon started getting overwhelmed, Caelum would spring into action. "King! Air Slash up there!" Pointing towards the Weezings that were stinking up the place around Shalin. In hopes of both striking the enemy pokemon and using the beats from his Charizard's wings to clear out some of the poison gas around them.[break][break]

Sadly to Caelum's revelation he'd also clear some of the smog from the center of the court, to his own dismay that uncovred even more Weezings and him and his Chrazizard would soon become their targets. "Move King!!!" He'd command his pokemon right before a Sludge Bomb was coughed up by one of the uncovered Weezing. Thankfully both him and his pokemon had come out unscathed as of now. "We have even more problems down here." Caelum would call out into their comms.[break][break]

Shalin needed a diversion. With her Flygon's greatest weapons disabled, her Pokémon could not battle effectively, yet her presence would be required for Shalin to have full protection from the hostile elements. With the dragon's blood burning from the Weezing toxins, though, losing that protection was inevitable. The girl deeply inhaled before withdrawing her Sygna Pokémon, her held breath staving off the stench's intensity. She reached for her Espeon's Poké Ball and hurled it toward the Weezing, Starr loosing a potent PSYCHIC blast at two of them.

The Ranger mounted up to try to get away, barely able to get seated on her Espson before the wake of the final Weezing's EXPLOSION caught up with her. The hinges of the double doors snapped off, the attack's pressure forcing much of the toxic gas out the exit Shalin opened and the new one in the wake of the poison-type's desperation.

While caelum reinhardt 's work had successfully evacuated the vast majority of spectators and staff, she caught glimpses of several that did not make it as she went flying across the gymnasium, her body and her Espeon's covered in burns from being within the blast radius. Stumbling to her feet and swinging open the double-door entrance to another part of the building, she recalled her Espeon and started desperately looking for Caelum. "Where you... at?" Shalin asked over radio communications. "I'm hit! Bad!"

Caelum had been fighting his demon any time the smog got close to him and his Charizard they could barely do anything or exactly react. As if their bodies would naturally and re-actively Flinch, the Stench was simply too much for them to handle it for too long, they needed to find a way to move this to the outside.[break][break]

Caelum and his pokemon couldn't exactly fight at this state, all they could do was try to find their Ranger partner since this felt like trouble that could only be fixed with team work and a good amount of brain power. Looking around trying to find his way into the forever smog filling room, he'd hear Shalin Nariya's voice from the comms. "I'm moving! Where exactly are you!?" [break][break]

They had to find the head behind all of this, it had felt like fighting a Hydra made out of Weezings, every time they had taken one down, two would take it's place and start filling the room with gas once more. Caelum had a plan but it would be very extreme and he didn't want to go for something like this till he had the approval of at least a Ranger like Shalin.[break][break]

Moving as fast as he could with the low vision, waiting for Shalin to reply to him, hoping she was okay enough to hold on till he was able to arrive. [break][break]

The sound of caelum reinhardt 's voice in Shalin's comms was music to her ears. "The commons through the south double doors! It's close to the main entr--" Suddenly, the line went dead. That couldn't have been good news.

Provided Caelum found the way to the commons area, he would find the place in disarray: a vending machine tipped on its side, chairs and folding tables strewn about the large space in various directions, and four individuals in the shadows of the toxic gas. While there were no Weezing nearby, many of the grunts of the operation having retreated under pressure from the Charizard, it was apparent that the two wearing gas masks were the directors of the illicit operation. In front of them stood Shalin and a young man wearing a basketball jersey.

"She yours?" one of them would quip toward Caelum if he approached. "We didn't come for Blondie here. We came for him. Pack up and mosey on out of here, and we let the girl go." That was when it dawned on Shalin: the ICBA was no ordinary basketball league. It was a league consisting of private, religiously-affiliated schools... meaning the parents of many of the players were rather moneyed. Retrieving them both would not be easy, what with the Glimmora hovering above and behind the captives, armed with TOXIC SPIKES.

Was this an attempt at a ransom?

Listening to Shalin's instructions and following the signs along the corridors of the gymnasium, shoes squeaking with every turn, the charizard bumping into everything it possibly could on it's way. Expenses that were to hopefully be put on the Ranger Bureau and not on himself, as much as his family could afford it. [break][break]

Whoever had targeted the place would most definitely hear him coming, there was no exact way to be sneaky in a situation like this, someone had just asked for his help and he wasn't about to let them down in the same day, that was more of a second meeting thing. [break][break]

Sliding into the room only to have words thrown at him. He wasn't ready, he wasn't trained for situations like these, unless he skipped the anti terrorism classes at university. "Hey there dude! I'm only here so I don't get fined." He'd say putting his hands up. "Hey if you want a really good hostage you can take me. I promise you that my family has a substancial amount of money." Was he really offering to take the hostage's place? Not really, he was trying to give Shalin enough time to think of something. [break][break]

Hoping that rangers were trained in taking over hostage situations, because Arceus knew he wasn't.[break][break]

While Shalin wasn't happy with Caelum offering himself up to free her, it was the best she had. Thankfully her Poké Balls were still intact, simply on the floor, a short distance from her. "If she means that much to you, then by all means. You and Blondie walk past one another. I see either of you pull a fast one... well, let's say these Glimmora will put bullets in your heads." There was still the matter of the toxic gas: how long would Caelum last?

Once the two had covered about half the distance, Shalin whispered, "In three, okay?" Once the silent count had expired, the girl made her move for her Poké Balls, pressing the switch on her Alolan Ninetales' Ball. She had one chance at this, the Fairy-type highly susceptible to the toxins. Letheia was her only hope to get out of the building with the hostages and their own lives intact.

"MORTAL SPIN."

The two Glimmora began whirling at high speeds, spreading TOXIC SPIKES in a spray not unlike the fire of an automatic shotgun. Her Kantonian Ninetales' Extrasensory would be able to take them down easily, but with how dense the gas was, one ember dripping out of her mouth could ignite the gas. Even her suit wouldn't let her survive that. Projectiles from the MORTAL SPIN flew toward Letheia, the Ninetales able to get a DAZZLING GLEAM off just in time before being struck. The only one able to see through the sudden flash was its source, the fox crouching and forcibly lifting the athlete onto her back. Bumping into Shalin and Caelum, the fox attempted to lead the way to the front door in an effort for the three to escape in the confusion of the bright light. The Ranger's footsteps were rather unsteady, her suit offering her little protection from the venomous projectiles lodged inside of it.

It wasn't that Caelum cared about the person in general, it was closer to him caring about the world around him more than anything, if people didn't make the right choices even for selfish reasons the world would be a much darker place. "Don't you worry. I don't have a single chance of doing anything." Caelum would start moving for the exchange when Shalin whispered and he maybe knew what to do next.[break][break]

As soon as Shalin Nariya made her move he had to do something too, his only reaction was to protect himself with his arms and try to protect the hostage along with him. The shotgun-like spikes flying everywhere, there had to be an opportunity just around the corner somewhere. That opportunity would soon come in the shape of a DAZZLING GLEAM the pokemon who picked up the athlete before bumping into Caelum and Shalin. [break][break]

At this point his legs would naturally react with the scenario, quickly signaling to his Charizard to start running alone with the rest of them, slipping and squeaking all the way. He had no idea if this was the plan all along but he it was working, he thought at least. He wouldn't stop running they had reached the outside or if Shalin herself would stop. Thank Arceus he had always kept himself healthy.[break][break]
