he called delphi in cause he wanted to show something off to her. mateo was coincidentally with her when he called, to which kyle told her to bring him as well.

the meet up at the beach should hint them what they were supposed to do should they be watching news every morning. having beached wailords were normally a problem since it usually needed coordinated efforts to get them back to the sea. apparently, however, the new mega evolution thing was supposed to help him about it tremendously.

he stared upon the nearest wailord on the shore, wondering how mega evolution works exactly. this would be his first time doing it, and so audience were necessary.

both of his manectric stood beside him, one of them yawning and laid down on the sand as it did. he read the instruction manual when he was given the mega accessory, but skimming over it doesn't really help as much as real practice.

although delphi was not an avid watcher when it came to any news program— her service to the league had once brought about this experience. beached wailords were as typical as the fiery nature of mateo martinez . their coincidental encounter having been soon accompanied by the call of kyle lopez . surely the three would be together again. recent dilemmas stirring them from the secrecy of their lives. something that wasn't all that bad.[break][break]

only— the girl had made a bet with her fellow draconid. a childish and once harmless challenge that was on the near brink of being lost. two figures seen tearing through the bright skies like falling meteors. raz may have kept an even pace with the other, but delphi could feel her eyes tearing up against the icy torrent. her slender arms hugged firmly around the neck of the determined dragon.[break][break]

above them trailed gemi.[break][break]

"we... got this!" she shouted out against the rapid whipping sensation. every rupture in the breeze lashing back in an unending whistle. raz locked on to the massive blue target within the distance. her wings flattening and her stature diving towards the endless expanse of water. kyle lopez would seem them all in their descent. an entrance that lacked any grace as the flygon and delphi were repelled backwards upon the impact of the wailord.[break][break]

the hold lost in the moment, her body flying upwards before gravity took control. only this time, the girl had no wings to support her eventual fall. "huh?" delphi started to flail.

"such an airhead." dragonite flew the pair down safely unto the ground. landing behind kyle and jumping off of his dragonite; dragonite would place delphi down gently.

a casual expression donned mateo's face. he seemed to be calm for the time being, a bit bored as well as arms were risen over his head. "what the hell is so important that you had to show us, lopez?" he called the brunette by his surname. the wailords weren't all that interesting to witness. it was practically all over the news about how many were washed ashore. "if it's about the wailords, they're all over the news." he'd casually kick sand about.

"picking up giant whale pokemon sounds like a pretty interesting challenge though, so i have no complaints over here! dragonite and druddigon wouldn't have any qualms!" turning to his dragon-type, he was ready to pull out druddigon at a moments notice. "so, when do we get started?!" he cheekily snickered.

"...the fuck are you guys doing?"

whatever they were doing, kyle had no obligation to step in and interject himself. delphi fell though, which froze him for a moment. thankfully, mateo was good at taking the spotlight so kyle doesn't have to do anything about his friend that was about to realize a near death experience.

kyle watches them land, a deadpan expression laying on mateo as he babbles on. it was the one thing he liked about delphi more than mateo, cause she wouldn't ask inquiries that would make her question his motives. then again, mateo was more used to his shenanigans so he understood where the precaution comes from.

"i wanted to show you these wailords," he responded. it was a lie. "thought delphi should copy your strats and do some intensive weight training for her pokemon." another lie, but it sounded like something he would've said anyways so maybe they'll buy that.

he crawls on top of tana, laying on her back as he made himself comfortable on her static-induced fur. there was some tingling sensation whenever he uses her as a bed, but it's something one can get used to if they were to do it all the time.

"won't you say this is a nice experience?"

delphi feels the undeniable gravity take hold of her flailing form. it isn't that high up— but given the repulse of their hefty contact— she doesn't presume the way down will be without injury. thankfully the nearby friend is what saves the girl. she peers up at the immediate face, giving the dragon a slight smile as they lower to the sandy earth.[break][break]

"i did beat you though!" she adds, fishing through the back of her pocket. one capsule is seen as the hand comes forth, releasing kit upon the brilliance of the beach. the luxray takes a few glances towards the company— and then the enormous pokemon left stranded on the shore.[break][break]

his lackluster gaze truly piercing.[break][break]

"wow! i had a feeling you'd called because of this!" although certainly no mind—reader, her intuition for what the mystery of the invitation was fell upon prior times. only once she'd been granted service to send the pokemon soaring back into the ocean. of course— she was but an inexperienced trainer then. struggling with her companions just to move the wailord an inch further towards the salty waters. surely now it would be much different.[break][break]

mention of training leaves the girl blinking in surprise. "hey! instead of that— how about another challenge?" delphi passes a glance to mateo martinez and then kyle lopez . her jade colored eyes facing the stretch of an endless blue field. wavering against the current of a slight breeze. "whoever can send a wailord flying the furthest is the winner!" disregarding anything else of reward, she held her closed hands just to the front of her chest— expression twinkling with anticipation.

it wasn't until kyle spoke of using this as an opportunity for delphi to train. turning around for a moment, he thought about it briefly. a hand underneath his chin--he stroked. thinking long and hard until a bright grin overcame him.

he'd begin to dance on one leg and then the other. hands risen as a devilish thought plagued his head, a maniacal laughter followed; using this as an opportunity to show off his muscles and his training sounded like it was worth his time. just thinking about @delphi showering him with praise. she was an airhead but she was also a girl--a cute girl. and what better way to strengthen a man's confidence then with a woman's compliments? especially a cute one at that.

as their attention was diverted for a short moment, he'd return to his senses. quickly turning back toward the group and clearing his throat. "that's a great idea, delphi!" even though that was, technically, actually kyle's, but he wouldn't mind--right? "this sounds like a task for druddigon, dragonite back!" and without hesitation he'd call upon the herculean of his dragons. with a mighty roar, he was ready to get started.

"approximately how many even are there?" he'd look around, trying to see how many were on the beach. turning toward kyle, he'd await for an answer. he was the first to arrive.

"alright. bet." he turns to mateo from delphi right afterwards, giving him a lazy answer. "i dunno. i can't count." the dismissive answer was a direct result of not getting credited properly.

kyle would have complained had he not have an ace up his sleeve. besides, the real reason he called them here was to show off with the new mega evolution thing. this would be the moment where he would know whether the whole shebang was a scam or not.

he removes himself from the back of his manectric, getting ready for the small competition between the three of them. "what's the catch though? does the winner get the losers to do one thing for them?"

if delphi wins, she's going to be tame about her requests. if mateo win's, he'll probably think of something stupid instead of something actually embarrassing. it should be fine.

"you go first though," he tells delphi, "you're the one that wanted to turn this into a competition anyways."

one maniacal dancing man and another lackluster one. truly the pair had been a contrast. delphi might've favored company over isolation but, her nature was not as bizarre as mateo martinez. then again— it was all quite amusing in the world of the airheaded girl. their odd quirks bringing out what had made them friends or perhaps rivals.[break][break]

"sure! lets go with that" in response to kyle lopez, she moves from the group towards a wailord. directly beside the one that had been situated frontal to them. her arms fold together, settling at her chest as she peers up at the pokemon. it is intimidating at first given that it is large enough to block out the light of the sun.[break][break]

after a hefty amount of consideration, she gestures for her companions to come closer. "alright! we need to hit it with all that we got!" raz and gemi land, rattling sand momentarily. the luxray irritated by the rise in particles. "but... all together." they listen intently, "when i count to three— that's when you go! got it?" and then they nod. breaking into formation, delphi takes a few precautionary steps back from the eventual action.[break][break]

"okay! one—" but then— one moves before the correct time. kit, blanketed by an evident coat of electricity, charges forward. his speed is immense given the attack. wild charge creates a cloud of sand in his path as he collides with the wailord. delphi doubtful till the pokemon was rebounded by the contact and soared across the ocean. [break][break]

it lands far with an evident splash. but the creature is still visible to all that watch. kit earns a serious of irritated growls from raz and a confused noivern. landing to tend to her mane rather than press discontent for the situation. one hand settles upon the slightly flustered luxray. electricity shoots through her enough that delphi is apt to remove it. "don't worry, there are plenty of wailords to go around!" the cheery smile even leaves the dragon unable to continue her bickering. delphi turns back to the pair.[break][break]

"good luck!" it is a childish taunt.

"druddigon, enhanced those muscles and get to work; give them some dragon energy!" he shouted. druddigon, superpower, would charge forward at the next wailord. with all his strength he'd grab it by the tail. swinging it around, he'd send it flying into the ocean. once it landed a large SPLISH SPLASH was made.

sadly, it didn't get very far. rather, it was somewhat near the shore but in the water and capable of swimming away on its own. it wasn't great, but it was a tiny bit okay compared to delphi. just a smidge. honestly, this wounded druddigon's heart a little. to be on the level of a luxray--a weird colored one at that. it made mateo a little flustered. one could see the red gathering about the bridge of his nose. druddigon clearly needed some more strength building sessions. placing a light palm atop of the dragon's head, he'd cheer it up by massaging it. "i expect better next time..." he murmured. holding in his anger.

turning toward kyle though, he'd begin to pick on the blonde boy. making taunting expressions. an eye was pulled down and a tongue stuck out, "your turn loser!" he chortled. eager to see his utter failure compared to theirs.

wailords were big, frightening pokemon. in raw physical power alone, the pokemon kyle brought lacked in that department. kyle would have given up there and then if he did not have the secret weapon ready. "well, don't expect much, m'kay." he tells both of them, hand rubbing the back of his neck.

"innes, electric terrain!"

a surge of electricity flooded from the manectric's footing, coating the beach's sands with sparks.

"tana," he calls softly, before turning back to his other manectric. "phase two: charge!"

tana charges the other manectric with her electricity by feeding his lightning rod with it. innes stands still as he amasses energy from the surrounding, charging himself for the next attack he launches.

kyle places his hand on the bracelet on his hand, activating the mega evolution silently. the manectric quickly shifts its appearance, howling as a sudden surge of power enters him. kyle, too, is too much in awe about the whole thing that the next command came out as a whisper.

"thunder."

a powerful lightning strike comes down from the heavens with the manectric's roar. it comes straight down to where the beached wailord was with such intensity that the impact of the strike to the ground generated enough shock wave to push everything away from the point of contact. the power is exemplified further by the formation of glass when it hit the sands.

the attack blows the water-type away from the shore in a more considerable distance compared to the other two attempts, along with everyone in the vicinity. kyle lands a few distances away from the point of impact.

"tada," he announces in a nonchalant tone.

[attr="class","starrytext"]"get a load of this guy..." mateo stated, scoffing. only for something unfathomable to happen. a jaw would drop in utter shock as the dog tamer and his manetric released a never before seen energy. it spewed within a miracle, shocking mateo to his core. "w-what the hell..." he was in utter shock. just what the hell was that power?!

how did he do?! turning toward kyle lopez, he'd exclaim, "how the hell did you do that?! i want that!" he wasn't sure what just happened, but, "did that manetric just evolve?! i thought they only had one evolution, not another!" he'd begin to examine it. dragonite and druddigon watched with sheer amazement. they, too, began to examine the beast.

"what did you do?!" he'd run over to grab kyle lopez by the color of his shirt and shook him. "i want that!" it looked so cool. how did this lazy bastard get such a power?! there's no way he's being left behind is he?! looking toward druddigon and dragonite, he'd release kyle, shouting at them both while pointing at mega manetric, "do what he did but twice as better!" they were confused, baffled by what exactly had been done.

those were the only words he could utter before mateo goes on to ramble, clearly in awe from the display of power. he couldn't blame him though. this was his first time experiencing a move that could probably rival a legendary pokemon's attack. there was a lot of set-up required for it, however, which means he won't get too many windows of opportunities to use it in a match.

he ignored most of his questions, mostly because there was too much of them for him to answer. instead, he only takes notice of the last few.

"mega evolution, or something like that." he brings up his arm as he was being roughed up, showing the unusual bangle on his wrists. on it was a gem of yellowish tint. "you need this though." he points to the gem afterwards. "and this."

he'd explain more, but he sees him distracted.

"i'll hook you up to someone who knows this shit if you hold up your end of the wager!" he yells.
