Aidan's return to Slateport, not for some villainous for Rocket. What Aidan came looking for in Slateport this time was peace, a reminder of a short lived time, when he had arrived in the city for The Splashfest. Within the busy days of Mantine surfing, diving and spending time dunking strangers in water tanks, he had missed the opportunity of having a beach side BBQ.[break][break]

Thankfully he had prepared 90% of the things already all that was left was to light the fire and start grilling! Hopefully the smell of sizzling meats and veggies would work as a beacon for more people to join him, everyone deserved a little siesta time. Cracking open a canned margarita, he'd stand near the grill like the metaphorical dad.[break][break]

There was beach chairs, cold lemonade, a bunch of alcoholic beverages in the cooler and the whole ocean ahead of them. It was a day he was willing to live out for as long as he possibly could, he knew the chaos of Hoenn would eventually overwhelm everyone once again soon enough, so the small set up was for people to simply join![break][break]

Perhaps yearning for the Splashfest of last year, Mint found himself wandering around once again. Though, a little more sober than that time, and little more single. Lots of things had changed very quickly it felt after that summer. Things had really kicked off in the region as the meteor had approached but one thing remained clear. [break][break]

mint frost could not hold his liquor. [break][break]

As he wandered the beach, soaking up the sun with his anxious little raccoon beside him. The purple galarian zigzagoon was so full of a strange energy. Whatever that corruption had done, hadn't made him more vicious. Simply more excitable. Perhaps a boost in stamina? Energy? [break][break]

He didn't know. But if something was wrong, Zabaglione didn't really tell him. Instead the little racoon burst forward on the dunes until he slowed to a scurry smelling the cooking meats and barking as he tried to be stealthy about his approach. However, there wasn't really any grasses he could hide in so the pokemon simply slunk belly first on the sand. "Zabaglione, leave that poor man alone!" he said not wanting to interrupt the poor guy grilling. The image reminded him of his own Grill Daddy, DEREK HOFFMAN . He hoped the guy was doing ok. He hadn't meant to kick his ass too much during Post Dorm.

The beautiful scenery, the sea breeze and the amazing smell of grilling meats. What else could Aidan ask for in a summer day. The amazing sizzling sound as things were flipped in the grill, as if a beacon had been lit. It was exactly what Aidan had wanted, even the company of wild pokemon would do him great right about now.[break][break]

As he would look behind him to reach for another drink, he'd see something really odd. A purple zigzagoon slinkied itself towards him through the many small dunes of sand, a voice trailed behind him. "No no no! It's all good, no need to leave the poor man alone." Aidan would say crouching down and offering something from the grill to the little guy.[break][break]

"In fact you two would be most welcome to join me!" Perhaps it was strange for him to invite a stranger and their pokemon like this but Aidan was in a incredibly good mood, it was very soothing when he didn't have to stress out about Rocket missions and apocalyptic scenarios.[break][break]

"I have some alcohol in the cooler and plenty of food!" Aida's old and caring ways coming out for a brief moment.[break][break]

Zabaglione's eyes turn to his trainer for a moment before the heat and smell of hot, grilled meat grabs his attention once more. He crouches at Aidan's feet, tail low as he wiggled his but before hopping up to meet the man half way and snatch the piece offered with a slurp. [break][break]

He barely chews but seems delighted at the prospect of more. The jittery Zigzagoon curls circles around the cook excitedly while Mint frowns at him and then looks back up at Aidan in surprise. "Seriously?" [break][break]

Zabaglione yips as he settled at the man's feet but Mint arched an eyebrow, flashing an incredulous smile of his own. "What's the catch, pretty boy?" He looked around. Was this an summer promotion? Some type of event set up for a local business? That's usually what free food in the summer meant. Maybe an outdoor birthday party? But there's not really any...birthday paraphernalia to denote that. The Beast steps forward trying to gesture the stubborn Zigzagoon again, but he simply stays put waiting for more offerings.

Watching the reactions from pokemon were far better than witnessing the lie filled reactions of humans, even if a pokemon acted cute for food or treats, it was just a genuine feeling from the pokemon, a ulterior motive that was both selfless and harmless.[break][break]

Once the Zigzagoon had slurped the meat from his hand, Aidan would pick himself up and grab another piece, the little guy running circles around him, almost like a little ritual for meat. Aidan would once again crouch to the pokemon's level and offer him more. "Seriously." He'd repeat, using a affirmative tone rather than a questioning one.[break][break]

Aidan would look up at the man once his motives were being questioned, even if his looks were being praised he couldn't help but be slightly hurt deep within his broken soul. "There's a camera over there and over there." Aidan would say with a straight face, of course he had been lying but he couldn't let the chance go.[break][break]

"Name's Aidan and yeah this is from the goodness of my heart for once." He didn't exactly want to divulge his true intentions of simply being nice and he wanted to take a break from life. "Feel free to join, I'm more than glad to grill up more stuff than just for pokemon." Not really a chef but he had his own run ins with the grill from his long lost days at the police academy.[break][break]

Zabaglione stopped, wagging his tail at the stranger and graciously accepting more meaty treats. Mint, on the other hand, stood nearby to watch his partner antagonize the poor man. "No way!" Mint laughed, still glancing around before settling back on Aidan. "Mint." He nodded at his partner. "That's Zabaglione. He acts like he doesn't get fed." To that, there's a loud whine and a bark that comes from the Galarian zigzagoon but nothing more. [break][break]

"Sure. I won't say no to a free meal." Mint said, unafraid of eating off a strangers plate. He goes around the chairs, and snags a canned hard lemonade out of one of the coolers. Then he goes straight towards the grill, standing upwind to avoid the smoke and the heat. Might as well keep the person feeding him company. Zabaglione follows, though more intent on harassing Aidan than anything else. [break][break]

"So what's the occasion? Or do you usually bring out too much to cook all by your lonesome?"

Whoever said that pokemon's carefree attitude towards strangers was a egregious mistake in their nature was a bad thing never expected that situations like these would arise. Perhaps, it was simply the sweet mixture of smells from the charcoal, smoke and grilling meat. Small events binding lives together.[break][break]

"Pleasure is all mine!" Aidan would say with a small smile before taking a sip from a bottle. "It'll also be my pleasure to feed us" He'd say flipping a nice piece of steak towards the strange yet still adorable Zigzagoon.[break][break]

"That's what I like to hear!" Aidan would say excitedly clinging the meat tongs together. Finally someone to enjoy a simple drink and conversation with, no worries of apocalypses, domes, or battling. Just two guys, a pokemon and a grill. The perfect [break][break]

He'd stop for a short second when the question of a special occasion was brought up. "There's nothing special... Sometimes we just deserve small breaks that's all. A smoky pit-stop for anyone to join and enjoy." Putting up his bottle so they could cheer, a sign of trust. "And you? Always joining strangers for food?" A smiled upon his face, showing how pleased he was at the situation.[break][break]

"Keep feeding him, we won't have any left for lunch." Mint teased, looking down at his partner as the Galarian wagged his tail and sat patiently by Aidan's feet. Mint sips his lemonade before tilting his head curiously. "Really? Thought maybe this was lie ka supermarket promotion." he said before adding. "Where'd you get the food then...? Or did you buy it all yourself?" Looked like a lot to buy for just one guy shooting the shit. That or he was a meal prepper. [break][break]

He clinks his can against Aidan's bottle for a cheers. "Ehh, you know how it is. Free food is free food." The chances of poison were relatively low. And even then, he'd probably been slipped in worse before. [break][break]

Or well, he was just absurdly confident in the fact that he'd be fine. "You managed to feed anyone else today or...?"
