It feels good to laugh, even if it pulls at the stitching of old wounds for them both. With great care befitting such a treasure, he returns the picture to Tulio.[break][break]

"Think it was my left hook that did me in, as well."[break][break]

Temp had looked at him differently, after that, and that feeling had been strangely mutual. It was as if the punch had shattered some barrier between them, marrying the icy void of Cillian's bitterness with the warmth of Temp's empathy and understanding.[break][break]

He owed a lot to his husband long before he'd ever felt the stirrings of desire between them.[break][break]

With his hands empty, he folds them in his lap so as not to fidget.[break][break]

"That's... good advice," he ventures slowly, clearly not a man accustomed to discussing his feelings in such a way. It was a different process with Temp, usually, yet he found he appreciated this all the same. "I think I'll talk to him tonight. Once he's home."[break][break]

More than anything, he doesn't want to feel so alone anymore.[break][break]

"Thank you."[break][break]

There is a soft, fond chuckle when Cillian Quinn tells his side.[break][break]

"Always was cute from my left asscheek, that one."[break][break]

But it's brushed off for now.[break][break]

Tulio, with carefully telegraphed movements, chances with clapping Cillian on the back. Give his shoulder a firm but easy squeeze.[break][break]

"The two of you don't only have one another, too." Is hummed out after a few moments. "You're as much a Child of Mother as any of us, now; even if you don't believe like we do. The Children will always welcome you with open arms. At least in Pacifilog. If either of you ever need anything, we will do what we can to help."[break][break]

The help they could provide was limited- but in the coming days, many stocks of home-cooked meals from Temp's tribe would find it's way to their door. What little they could do, they would.[break][break]

"Is there anything I can do for you while I'm here, son?" It's earnest and sweet. Whatever small task that Cillian might need, be if cleaning or cooking or what have you, Tulio would do his best to see to it before he left. Yet, while his tone was gentle and welcoming, his face told Cil that giving the Quinn Special of 'No, I'm fine' might not cut it.

The reminder of an extended family, a community, brings fresh tears to his eyes. He blinks them away, stubborn.[break][break]

"Never had that before," he confesses, quiet, as though the admittance were some sort of heresy. He does not talk about his past where he can afford it. But Tulio had shared his own vulnerability, and so Cillian drops his defenses to offer the same. "Where I'm from, we... suffering was a thing you did in silence. Alone."[break][break]

But here was Tulio, reminding him that it needn't be that way forever. Emotion chokes in the back of his throat.[break][break]

Son.[break][break]

That's what breaks him. The tears he'd tried so hard to hold back slip hot and damp down his cheeks.[break][break]

He'd lost his siblings. His daughter. So many of his friends, to treachery and to war. Yet Tulio, this man who owed him nothing, offered more warmth and comfort than the parents who'd raised him or the organization who'd shaped him into the weapon that he was.[break][break]

Cillian hugs him. Brief, hard. Conveying in that simple gesture all of the emotion that couldn't be put into words.[break][break]

He bites back the insistence that he's fine, and instead allows himself to grieve. To hurt. To need the comfort and aid that's offered, and accept it instead of pushing it away. When he pulls back, he offers a shaky smile.[break][break]

"Do you think you could help with the dogs?" They were full of energy, and tending to their needs often wore out what little stamina Cillian had left, these days. "We've been eating nothing but take-out for weeks. I think I'd like to cook tonight." And if Tulio could wrangle their nest of terrors, he'd have the energy to do just that. "You're welcome to stay for dinner."

Cillian Quinn hugs him and Tulio hugs back. For all of the briefness of it, Tulio would hold him with the kind of warmth and love a father should hold a son with.[break][break]

When he pulls away from to the too-brief touch, there is no judgment in his eyes at Cillian's tears. Tulio just gives a sunny smile back; the lines a reflection of Temp's face in a long gone memory.[break][break]

A hand is clapped to Cil's shoulder as he nods.[break][break]

"I've wrangled worse terrors than your dogs." A chuckle and a playful wink.[break][break]

Then Tulio is turning to whistle some of the beasts to him.[break][break]

Later, when Temp would return home covered in soot, with dirt under his nails, and still so manic- he would smile at his father and husband and join them for his first home-cooked meal in weeks.
