The scene shifting to the bright, empty bakery lobby was cute. All of a sudden, though, why was Biscotti the Growlithe unable to talk? It made little sense. There was no one else around, it seemed; she was on her own.

Out of the four approaches presented to her, the one that seemed most likely to hold the answer was the basement if the mystery turned sinister. Perhaps money was the motivator, though. If money was it, then the evidence she was looking for would likely be behind the counter. It was only the allure of mystery that kept her eyes open, Starr popping her head inside her room wondering why her trainer was still awake.

Biscotti begins to sniff around the once-filled lobby. The smells of a few dozen people threaten to overwhelm him. Warm chocolate eyes lift toward Shalin as she ducks behind the counter. Hopefully, she doesn't do a taste test. Sis is a hard arse about that. He lifts his foot to scratch at one air. The red-and-gold collar jangles.[break][break]
In the area behind the counter, you find no obvious evidence. There's a crumpled-up lunch receipt beneath the mat. But, as you stand up, you notice a slight flour handprint on one of the sliders. It's not human. There's a few crumbs on the floor.[break][break]

The sound of Kricketot chirping outside and the pull of the story she read kept the girl's weary eyes open. Once the story had reached its climax, she could very well drop her phone, wondering where it was at the next morning.

Perhaps Shalin had overlooked the obvious in her decision to check behind the counter. If money wasn't the motive, then what was? She made her selection, the screen seemingly darkening on its own as the door to the stairwell swung open.

The basement Shalin expects probably isn't what she gets. Just like every room in this place, it boasts a pronounced Galarian flavor. Cute curtains go well with the lounge furniture strained around. There's a crafting table in the corner filled with scrapbooking supplies. A new washer and dryer spin idly on the opposite end. [break][break]
But, it's the barking that catches your attention. A Dachsbund has been somehow ringed to a pole downstairs. A golden ring wraps through its collar, holding it in place. There's no seam as far as you can tell. "Bow-wow!" Biscotti runs over to his friend in an attempt to undo the dog Pokemon's collar. Finally, it slips off. "What happened!?"[break][break]

Again, you find crumbs on the floor and that same strange handprint on the pole.[break][break]

So Shalin really did have to play gumshoe, didn't she? She was too tired to do actual thinking. It was pretty obvious to her that Biacotti's sis was responsible, and she had an idea how to turn the baker back into a human, but what was the motive? Her tired mind felt like she didn't have the context clues needed. As she pondered the motive, her phone slipped out of her hand, the Ranger nodding off. Unbeknownst to her, she had accidentally submitted a partial answer!
