Before his appointment, Ozni took some time to scope the joint out. From the comfort of his electric sedan, he watched as employees flowed out of the glass-and-steel spire. A pint of greasy Chinese takeout—lo mein—sat in his lap. Techno music gently wafted through the cabin. After finishing his lunch, he’d roll his way out of the car.

Though he wore a button-up shirt, it looked like he’d forgotten to dress his other half. But, on closer inspection, the board shorts were a perfect match for the striping of the shirt. And the tennis shoes were designer. This chill look was just another carefully orchestrated act—just as planned as a three-piece suit. Trailing at his heels, the Gholdengo flashed repeated thumbs up at everyone he passed.

Deciding to take the stairs, he made his way toward Luke’s office. Only after his legs started burning did he shove his way into the elevator. With steady clinks the Gholdengo joined him. After a few seconds, he strolled out into the hallway. A blinding grin was given to the secretary. “I’m here for the 3H—Head Honcho Hyacinth.” They nodded and led him to the big double doors of the corner office.

A warm hand lift to meet Luke’s offered one. “Alola, my brother!” He goes in for a one-armed hug. “But, it’s Oz, Lukey.” He gives that a second to sink in as he steps back. “Mr. Adebayo was my father and nobody wants to be him, huh?” Sure, it was called the C-suite because they were a bunch of legal criminals, but that man made all of them look like saints.

Eager to enjoy the view, Adebayo’s Gholdengo waddled his way to the bayside windows. With a clink, he pressed his face against the glass.
