They come here because it is demanded of them. They come here because they want to be stronger. They come here because they must.[break][break]
Navy looks to the jewel around Vanilla’s neck once more. They demand much of this girl. As the Geiger counter ticks, he refuses to let them take this. Cracking his knuckles, hearing the sound of the roaring horde behind them, he speaks to the girl. Once again, thrown inside of the Ultra Sea. Vanilla was starting to get a little bit tired of this place, but when existing circumstances had made her volunteer to go inside of here and assist the League with whatever they might need. She does have some concern over what she can actually do compared to the rest of the people they send inside of here, as well as her glaring weakness of being a child still. Yet they gladly accepted her, whatever help they could get. A hand fell around Vivian's earring that was fastened around her neck, making a silent wish that she'd be able to get through this unscathed. One eye goes back to Navy but she doesn't really feel she could start any conversation without having to explain that she could handle herself.

In theory, anyway.

"There it is." Vanilla said aloud, looking down at the sample that was in need of mining and handling. She glanced down to the pickaxe as the geigar counter was the lone thing keeping them company. Eventually, Navy would step forward and take the brunt of radiation. Vanilla knew better than to waste valuable time by arguing against him. Instead, she'd get to work cracking the Dynamax infused Tera crystals and doing her best gather as much as possible.

The eyes of this place turn upon him. They surge with power. In the distance, monsters cry. They will soon be swarmed. The twirling eye of this monster serves as their clarion call. Navy sees what he has seen in his dream. Pokemon. Dead things who insist that they are still alive. A bloated, oversized Blastoise. Along the belly of the dead Pokemon’s shell are the screaming faces of children. This hallucination is his and his alone to bear. Let Vanilla be spared. Let the old suffer so that the young might persist.[break][break]
“I’ve got this. Don’t stop mining ‘til we’re done.” Balling his fists, he breaks into a charge. Shuwen at his side, they run. He first met the Urshifu down here. It is only fitting that they fight here to the last. His fist flies ahead of Shuwen’s. It cascades towards the Blastoise, hitting it with such force that its shell is utterly destroyed. Gasping, Navy wonders if the Pokemon has merely been holding back this whole time.[break][break]
“…there’s more where that came from!” Navy shouts as the angels descend. Nihilego. A whole swarm of the things.

The pickaxe hits the crystal, one swing after the other. It was only slight work at first, but to get some of the larger and better samples, Vanilla has to start chopping away at the huge crystals. Every so often, she looked over towards Navy to get a sense of whether or not he could handle the radiation that he was absorbing for her, but would continue on with her gathering. After a minute or two, she's already feeling the effects of fatigue settle in, having swung her pickaxe at the samples and pocketing the larger, shinier portions of this. It's hard work and her arms are already feeling the burn, but still, she continued to swing.

"Holding up alright? This stuff is so strong. I could feel it vibrate." she called out to Navy, huffing as she continued to scurry around like the little rat she was and collect as much as she could before he'd have to pull out. Hopefully the gym leader was as tough as he made himself out to be in their last gym battle. "We're doing *huff* good so far! Just keep it up!"

She mines, he punches. They each have their role. He trusts in Vanilla to do her part. He’s seen her in action. Even under all that pressure, she still acted. She’ll do the same now. When she looks over at him, she sees a man with gunmetal eyes and a determination of steel. Slammed by radiation, he looks up at the organ and shouts.[break][break]
“That the best you’ve got, Eternatus?! Get out of my town!” He swears he hears something laugh. It’s just a hallucination. Eternatus’s angels, the ultra beasts, float down to great him. Shuwen’s fists rise up to meet them. Gripping his mega stone, he allows mega evolution to envelope the lumbering bear Pokemon.[break][break]
Shuwen’s fur seems red instead of blue. Is that, too, the byproduct of the hallucination? It shifts between blue and red. His hands shift between his own hands and Kouji Matsubara’s hands as he thrusts it forward to match the bear’s momentum. Caught between past and future, here and elsewhere, truth and ideals, the warrior punches. He holds his head up high. He fights.[break][break]
There can be no other way.

Hm, Navy was preoccupied in the illusion. She'd have to hurry up on her mineral gathering trip while he'd suffer from the intense hallucinations. Another few minutes of cracking, smashing and collecting every proper sample for the League, Vanilla desperately needed a break. She had to take a moment and catch her breath, having destroyed most of the larger crystals nearby and managing to gather a good amount of resources inside of each. After she managed to catch her breath, the Galarian turned back to Navy just in time for the Tera crystals and Dynamax energy to shine in the dark cavern. She looked back at the man fighting Arceus knows what in his hallucinations and would turn back to him. "Navy, we gotta get going! Something's about ready to give!"

“Yeah.” Navy looks at the thing across from him. Kouji smiles at him. It all comes back to the same place, doesn’t it? Two men, giving it their all in this strange place under the sea. A spectral Urshifu, Shuwen’s twin, stands at the Rocket’s side. They rush forward. Navy and Shuwen’s blows mirror one another. They strike out at Kouji.[break][break]
He’s past him, now. It’s just a figment of his imagination. Cursing, he turns to Vanilla. She’s right. They have to go, and they have to go now. Shuwen looks at the way out. Instead of focusing on the hallucination of Kouji, he charges forward. They have to find a way out.[break][break]
“Let’s go! I’m not gonna let anything happen to you, kid!”

Vanilla peered inside of the huge crystals as their luster had began to darken more and more. She was being stared at, with eyes scattered all across the surface of the crystals, staring her down. She backed slowly while fearful for what these were going to do with the two interlopers that were currently busy pilfering some of their gem brethren. Navy called out to her which broke her out of her worried thoughts, as the girl lugged her bulging bag of crystals behind her as they sped out of the cavern.

"You doing alright?" She asked Navy in between breaths. The bag was heavy and weighing her down considerably. Muscles tensed up and felt as if they had been on fire while she ran, pushing herself to not get left behind by the man. "*huff* *huff*, are we getting some distance between us?" Vanilla spun around to spot ghostly hands scratching at the earth, reaching out further and further to grasp at the two. It sent her into a panic as she'd force herself harder to gain some much needed speed.

"Forget I asked!"
