THE ULTRA CRATER IS A LARGE EXPANSE UNDERNEATH A YELLOW SKY. In between thick, almost impassable jungles, craters filled with green fields and alien plants lay. What appears to be metal pipe-like roots grow out the rock of crater walls. Geysers dot this alien landscape, occasionally expelling shrieking steam.[break][break]

The world is frequented by earthquakes, causing odd red monoliths of rock to quake throughout the realm. Oddly, the Ultra Thicket possesses very fertile soil. In the distance, a large mountainous expanse can be seen, though the range does not seem too high.

So here they were, again.

The same buzzing ringing in her ears—and she already had her Typhlosion out and ready.

Surprisingly, she also had her Braixen out. If going by context clues, they should at least have two of the five… things… covered.

So far she had ‘a robe of fire rats’ and ‘a jeweled branch’… or at least her best guess as to what a jeweled branch was like, since the Delphox line had a ‘wand’ so maybe that would work?

“I don’t know about you, but that’s as a best guess I can imagine for those. What about you, do you have any ideas for the other three things?” she continued quietly, turning to face her companion.

Hopefully they would be able to scrape something together, and figure out the secrets of this place!

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Well, she doesn't quite know what the other two things are but she does recall one being a seaborne shell. And she'll point down to Reiner, who somehow manages to very carefully balance her, a Clamperl and a Mimikyu upon his back.[break][break]

Unlike their previous trip, he's a lot more alert than usual, scanning their surroundings for buried pokemon and occasionally sniffing for signs of trouble. As long as he keeps on his toes, they should be able to avoid being roasted by those strange ultra beasts. Even if their little Mimikyu companion keeps trying to squeal and point them in a different direction, they remain steadfast in their travels, keeping at it until dirt eventually turns to dust and sand.[break][break]

The crater, and their destination, is just ahead.

“Hmm…” she looked over at the Clamperl and nodded quietly at the context clue.

“Clamperl definitely fit the ‘seaborne shell’ item,” she approved. “Now what qualifies as a stone bowl, and a dragon’s jewel?”

Going off by context clues, of course, they were missing two more Pokémon… wait a second…

“Jewel, jewel… I think I have one more Pokémon for the equation.”

Rummaging around in her pocket, she then pulled out a Safari Ball, which popped out a Dratini.

“Just a thought, however doesn’t the Dratini line have those… ‘neck jewel’ things when they evolve into Dragonair?” she mused as she continued pacing.

Now what would fit for the ‘stone bowl’ part of this whole equation…

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Stone bowl... Rock or ground types is what she would assume. If that strange moose isn't what they're looking for, then what is? Try as she might to rack her brain on the matter, she doesn't know enough about those types to name a solid example. But eventually, she settles on one of the stupider answers, rummaging through her bag before finally pulling out a peculiar pokeball: Moon phases carved into the top half whilst the bottom is decorated with stars.[break][break]

As they reach the edge of the crater, Reiner is silent, steadily pacing around the cliff until he finds a spot to safely start the descent. Same as usual, he digs his claws in and carefully climbs down, all the way to a less steeper portion where he slides the rest of the way down. And here lies the crater searching for the stone bowl, her answer finally revealing itself in a beam of red.[break][break]

A Minior coos as it spins and twirls, fragments of its outer shell cracked and showing its purple core. When she reaches out to touch it, she gently pulls a chunk of its shell away. It's not quite a circular bowl but perhaps, the strange forces of this place would be willing to give them a pass.

It was go time, she guessed—thankfully, this time, she could easily have her Metagross, Zan, take her threw Pokémon down while she followed on the back of her Braviary.

The traverse was slower than last time, because while the Metagross could easily take them down to the bottom of where they were headed, she knew wiser than to ask her companion to get on her Braviary’s back… wait.

Wait a minute.

“What’s up?” she asked quietly, looking over at her companion with a curious look. “Meowth got your tongue or something?” she blinked a few moments while the Bravairy kept an eye on the Luxray while they completed the descent.

Thankfully, they would arrive at their destination, and once the Metagross landed with a quiet tremble; she stayed on her Braviary’s back as all five items were brought together—

And then, a rumbling shook their general vicinity.

“Wha—” she trailed off as she looked around and saw—

Several large… things sticking up from where they’d ended up in.

Oh, hell, what fresh terror did they find themselves in right now?!

The ground rumbles and roars, Reiner splaying his legs ever so slightly as he staggers about. Whatever's going on brings back far too many bad memories, her teeth gritting as she narrows her eyes at the sudden appearance of... bamboo? No, it's those ultra beasts again.[break][break]

The golden skies fade a little, a haunting silver disc climbing from beyond the horizon and continuing its ascent up above the forest of Celesteela. Is the moon... rising? In the middle of what she supposes to be daytime? Never mind that, they should probably be getting out of here before they get roasted alive.[break][break]

Her eyes flicks to Izumi Yamamura, attempting to discern just what they intend on doing next. There's no way they're sticking around after what happened last time, right?

She wished she hadn’t looked up the moment the ground started rumbling.

Wait, wait, hold up.

Wasn’t it like, daytime? Why was… why was the moon suddenly visible in the sky above them?!

“Alright, I wasn’t expecting that,” she hummed quietly as she chalked up the weird experience to their immediate surroundings. She then sent her Braviary off to check what was around them, however…

Fact of the matter was that.

They were in the middle of a large field that had impossibly-large Pokémon growing out of the dirt! Normally this wouldn’t even normally be possible (as the largest Pokémon she knew was Wailord, but guess what? Celesteela beat them all to the ground!) but here they were.

And just in time, too…

For one of the strange silver Pokémon… were they even Pokémon… launched themselves and looked like they were headed towards the moon that was hanging low in the sky!

“Wha—where’s it going?!” she exclaimed, shielding her eyes as she tried to trace the flight pattern of the Celesteela that had just departed.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]It'd probably be weird if Izumi Yamamura had been expecting a moon to rise after their little offering but then again, nothing in these rifts follows common logic. And neither do the whims of gods, a sharp squeal ringing out above the roaring of Celesteela rockets. When she looks back to reality, she realises that her Mimikyu is no longer with them and instead, attempting to scale the side of one of the rumbling ultra beasts.[break][break]

They can't possibly be hoping to catch a ride to wherever those behemoths are headed to. Oh, but as she begins to make a move towards them, she spies the little ghost becoming even smaller as they continue to climb. And they sure have the audacity to stop for a moment, a shadow claw waving wildly about as they chirp at her.[break][break]

Growling, Eris begins to pull up her sleeves, recalling her pokemon (much to Reiner's dismay) as she runs over to begin her own climb. Do they not understand what they're getting themselves into? Or perhaps, it's because they simply don't think themselves incapable of handling whatever problems may come their way after. Well, they may be right but that doesn't mean that this is a good idea nonetheless!

“Wait, what the—where are you going?!” she exclaimed the moment she saw her companion suddenly run off towards one of the gigantic silver… things throwing themselves at the moon.

“Yikes, yikes, yikes,” she muttered as she quickly recalled all her other Pokémon and left her Braviary out—she was pretty confident of Sora’s flight speed—and hopped onto the Braviary to chase after her companion, who was apparently going after her…

Squinting into the distance, was that… no that wasn’t a Pikachu trying to ride one of the launching rocket ship-like things (Celesteela, but she didn’t know what they were called) and then realized just what was about to happen—

“Be careful!” she called out to her companion, urging the Braviary to pick up speed and at least try to grab one of them (either the Luxray or the Mimikyu or whatever closest she could reach) because there was no way they were going to hang onto those… ‘arm’-like protrusions that easily!

If they were going to fly to the moon (as that was where they were most likely headed), might as well do it ‘properly’, right?

[attr="class","inner-finally"]With Reiner safely tucked in his pokeball, the only two at risk are Eris and the tiny Mimikyu squealing up ahead. But strangely enough, Izumi Yamamura doesn't have to worry about them, not when the two somehow manage to hold onto the Celesteela - As much of a troublemaker they were, they weren't exactly going to let their ward suffer from a nasty fall. A psychic force works wonders in making sure the two of them stick onto the rocket, the Mimikyu clapping and kicking their little feet as the rocket rumbles through the sky.[break][break]

But all living creatures eventually tire, the Celesteela is no exception to this rule. As the exhilarating ride slows to a crawl, Eris only requires the briefest of time to figure out just where they've landed. Gravity doesn't hold well here, her Mimikyu falling from their perch and harmlessly floating down past her. And so she follows, making sure to kick off so she can grab a hold of the little rat. Allowing them to wander around any more could have dire consequences, especially when looking at all the other ultra beasts present.[break][break]

A soft chirp rips her attention away from danger, a shadow claw forcefully turning her head towards the vast expanse of space. Amidst the endless sea of clouds is a golden plain dotted with patches of green; the world from which they had departed from seems oh so small from up here. And for a moment, she wonders if being in actual space would give her that very same feeling.[break][break]

To be free from every little thing that plagued her back home. To simply... stay here and observe how the universe changes. To no longer have to worry about losing people, if she just stays here forever. The world below begins to shift and swirl, her gaze clouding over as her cheeks begin to burn.[break][break]

When she blinks, she notices it. Why does space sparkle so much more than she would ever have imagined? Her hands reach out to touch those fading lights but when she grasps one within her palms, she realises just how cold and wet they are. Her tears find their place amongst the stars, her stories lost on a world that knows neither her name nor what she stands for.[break][break]

She doesn't even know what she stands for. Not anymore.

It doesn’t take long for her to eventually fall into the giant silver creature’s slipstream in order to keep up with where…wherever they were headed at this point.

(It looked like the moon, but better safe than sorry, right?)

The moment they cleared the atmosphere, though, she realized something was up—hastily swapping out her Braviary for her Metagross and jumping from one ‘ride’ to ‘another’ in the middle of things.

Common sense and reason won out, plus she was sure that the Metagross would be able to protect her when they were up here as evidenced by the shimmering barrier of psychic energy the blue beast had summoned around them before they came to a landing stop on the…

…they really were on the moon, huh?

Gravity was wacky up here, that’s for sure. She squinted in the distance, seeing the greenery that made up the western half of the region; idly wondering how it was even possible that they were up here on the… oh, that’s right.

Of course being the more sensible one, she allowed the Metagross to ‘trail’ around behind her, allowing her some room to move around and then…

“Aren’t you worried about getting stuck up here?” she began in her companion’s direction. Who, for some reason still wasn’t speaking to her. The last time she’d saw her, they were at least able to exchange a conversation or two. Now, though?

Her brows furrowed. Little did she knew that being up on this strange place would give her… mood swings. (And not for the better, either. This was going to be hysterical.)

The worry evaporated from her, though, the moment she noticed that something was off with her companion as she approached the other—but still kept some distance away.

“You know, normally I would leave my nose out of other peoples’ businesses but you’ve been awfully silent. You can… you can share, you know? Or not, if you don’t want to. It’s just hard talking to someone who doesn’t even realize you’re there. It sucks.”

Was she becoming the naggy mom again, all the way up here?

“It wouldn’t hurt to speak up, you know. Or then again, maybe not, because you’ve been keeping up the entire ‘I don’t want to talk with you’ charade or something. Kind of grating, considering last time you were still conversational.”

Oops. She didn’t mean to just snap like that…

She can barely look Izumi Yamamura in the eyes as she tries to rub away her tears. She'd been through this before, multiple times in fact. Life never seemed done with putting her through tests she could never be prepared for. She'd tried her best, put in every ounce of effort and she'd solved it once before. But somehow, there was always more, and more,[break][break]

And more.[break][break]

Even now, she still tries to keep Izumi at distance. Unable to connect with her, unwilling to try when she knew that she'd be alone at the end of the day. The harsh words thrown her way are met with silence, her grip on her Mimikyu tightening as she bites her lips. No one could help her with this awful mess, and her chest tightens just thinking about that very fact.[break][break]

But the hand gently resting upon the back of her palm feels so warm, a conflicting sense of comfort attempting to wash over her and drive out the souring thoughts. Looking down towards the Mimikyu, she stifles a sniffle. She's tired, far too tired to even try fighting against Mesprit's influence. She doesn't even want to try when all that is offered is a moment of respite, no matter how unnatural it might be.[break][break]

"We can't stay here." Her voice sounds so hoarse from disuse, her heart softly crying at just what her head says. As much as she'd love to simply stay here forever, to forget every bit of pain that plagued her, someday someone would try to find her. Or perhaps, they'd forget that she'd ever existed. Perhaps, they would become too busy with their own lives to realise that she disappeared.[break][break]

Looking to the disguised pixie, she hopes that they're feeling generous enough to offer that same peace of mind to Izumi. Whether that would help soothe and diffuse the situation all depended on how well the other received such emotions.

Maybe being up here for too long was a bad idea…

Was she able to knock some sense back into her companion? She certainly hoped so.

Either way, she approached—never mind if it was more bouncy than normal due to the crazy gravity up on the moon, Metagross hovering behind her—and she waited.

“Shall we go back home, then?” she continued softly, pointing at the planet that shimmered across the seemingly infinite space, wondering how they were going to get back. Was there going to be another… beast flying back in the opposite direction, back home? Back to where they came from?

Nonetheless, they would eventually make their way back (she’d achieved this thanks to her Metagross’ protective psychic barrier surrounding them as they made the return trip), back towards the greenery, towards the strangeness… the weird place that was Hoenn.

The place they called ‘home’.

Little did she realize that there would also be a surprise waiting in her pocket when they would land, how… how did that strangely-designed piece of paper mange to fold and insert themselves into her pocket? That was odd…

Why was she getting a hair-raising feeling that the little piece of folded paper was… was very much alive?

Did this… perhaps come from the ‘moon’ they’d ended up visiting?
