"Sooo... Nautica expanding its enterprises into mining now?" He asked with a grin as they arrived at their assigned ore vein, humming. "I guess this is Ultra Deep Sea mining, so it's at least on brand."

John Douglas Sullivan only knew two ways to communicate with the Dross family, and quipping was one of them.

"Your bike's fine, by the way. Been taking real good care of it." He said as he strolled up to the ore vein, pickaxe in hand, flanked by his two fellow veteran miners, his Escavalier and his Crustle. "Pretty sure she likes me more than you now."

Personally Angelo hoped that this particular job didn’t become a long running staple. He still wasn’t particularly hot on the cramped conditions of the caverns leading to the Ultra Deep Sea.

Today’s venture had at least seen him accompanied by Doug, who true to form brings a spark of life to their cramped mining operation and a distraction Angelo appreciated.

Quips were the perfect form of communication and deflection, as far as he was concerned.

“Woah, looks like we've got a Casanova on our hands. And here I was worrying about you gettin’ lonely on the road.” Within the depths of his shadow, a gloomdweller blinks in innocent confusion. “Speakin’ of, why are you down here when you could be enjoying your trip? Miss work that much?”

Brother or not, he had to lay down claim over his territory.

Inevitably though, the conversation drifted away from purely nonsensical quips.

"Oh— naw. This place is just... of interest to me." He said with a hum. "Lot of these treasures contain considerable amounts of dynergy... otherwise known as Ultra space energy."

He paused, kneeling down as his companions drilled out of the vein a large dynamax crystal, swiping the curios.

"I've got a few experiments to run— for medicine's sake, of course." He winked at Angelo. "So I'm sure nobody will mind if I swipe a few items for myself. Think of it as... reclaiming my surplus value."

He couldn’t not get one last jab in now, could he?

“Now less daydreaming about your waiting ride and more mining,” detaching the pickaxe that he’d strapped to his back, Angelo and his Marshadow prepare for work. Chester drifts through the pilot’s shadow until it reaches the edge, bright red eyes peering into the darkness to keep watch while his back was turned.

Angelo claps his callused palms together, before readying the swing. Its routine light and descent, his exhale and inhales, help with the brewing darkness clouding his mind.

“Ah, but my dear Dougie. Where will you be when all the pharmaceutical companies are forced to release all the cures they’ve smuggled away from the public and medicine becomes a worry of the past?” When he tosses his friend a return wink, its filled with mischief and mirth.

AKA: Absolute bullshit.

In fact, Angelo founds himself quite proud of the teenager’s opportunistic attitude.

"Ewww!" He groaned, giving Angelo a disgusted look. "You had to go there?"

Truly gave him the genuine brotherly experience with that one.

"Urgh, sure, now we can focus on work." He grumbled as they got back to proper work, grabbing his own pickaxe before moving closer to his own ore vein.

"Weren't we focusing on work?" He quipped quickly as the booming clang of hard labor thundered around them. "But ya really wanna know... I'll drink and celebrate until my liver gives out."

The day pharmaceutical companies stopped being greedy pieces of shit and made medicine free for all was the day lechonks flew, but wouldn't it be wonderful if it ever truly happened...?

Perhaps due to them getting a little too creative and hopeful about the future, the chamber around them took offense.

As the familiar ripple shook the caverns, Doug released a sigh as the sound of something heavy splatting on the floor reached his ears.

"I was doing pretty good." He said as he turned to face their new enemy. "Emphasis on was."

Turned about, they faced the unholy combination of... a blissey and a Gholdengo.

Huh.

"... Guys, get rid of big pharma over there."

[attr="class","angelomain"]Stilling in his swings Angelo barks out a laugh, scratchy from the thirst of labour and mental strain of the chamber pollution.

Doug’s disgusted expression definitely sparks joy.

“You got off lightly, I thought I’d spare your innocent little ears.”

They return back to their toil, Angelo scooping up chunks of treasure he’d chipped away from the bulk of the rocks to deposit in his pocket. Not everything would find its way to the employer.

“Ah, see, I just know that as the ol’ Skyler Dross Saturday night special.” Perks of avatars who could heal their livers, he supposed.

Its not long until they receive a visitor. Close enough to being on time, lumbers in a bulky creature that's bursting at the seams. Angelo grimaces. Unfortunately his sharp eyes had clocked onto the coins not being of any monetary value, so it had to go.

“Chester. Give ‘em a hand.”

From the depths of his shadow, Chester detaches itself and skirts the gloom of the cavern. Picking its way through the stretching darkness until it finds itself beneath the form of newly dubbed, Big Pharma.

Leaping out from beneath it, the little marshadow thrusts a fist into the monstrosity. Spectral thief’s power sends the coins exploding through the cave like an arcade game fighter’s defeat.

You must escape with your gathered material. Your ally or allies may be incapacitated by the paranoia settling in their psyches, or perhaps, the eldritch mutations beginning to metamorphose their body or bodies.[break][break]

Depending on how much your characters have mined, you may need to lessen your extracted load to ensure successful escape from this wretched place. After all, the horrors that reside here may make chase.

As the monstrosity before them was brought low by their pokemon— the room around them rippled once again, the earth beginning to tremble like a baaad bowel movement.

"Uuuh, hold that thought— it's time to go." He said, throwing everything he could scoop up in his hands into the cart before beginning to push it out.

Whatever fell or stayed behind, he was not turning back to get it. There'll be plenty of opportunities to do this again...
