It had been a while since he indulged himself as a pokemon trainer.

Well, perhaps some would argue that Volcanic ash made for a good reason to stay in the hospital.

But that was nothing a good facemask couldn't— well, not fix, but at least mitigate.

Bringing angelo vestri's bike to a stop near familiar pass, the youth gazed down into a thicket of the tough trees planted around Fallarbor's surroundings.

That looked like a good place to start.

There were still so many areas of the region that she hadn't explored yet, and so many different kinds of Pokemon she still had yet to get information for to learn about. So it was time for another expedition into the unknown![break]
Yuina had made her way to one of the most northern parts of the region, well past the Volcano that was situated in the middle of the region, but that seemed to be a bit... Detrimental in her exploration as the surrounding area was almost entirely covered with ash as it softly floated through the air, like snow almost... She coughed a bit, luckily she had least was wearing a scarf that she brought up over her nose, but goodness if this wasn't a tricky place to have picked to go for some training and searching...[break]
She heard something in the near distance though, she couldn't quite make out what the sound was... But whatever it was, surely it had to be a Pokemon that was getting ready to approach, and she was going to be ready as the waited on the otherside of a small tangle of trees, it was going to be her first sighting of her visit!

It wasn't a pokemon.

A young man walked into view, dragging a blue bike along the road as he did. In his hand, he held a freshly used net ball— and was loudly arguing with his judgemental, floating Orbeetle.

"I never said I quit being a bugcatcher." He huffed at the beetle, ignoring the way the bug suddenly swiveled in place to stare directly at Yuina Higashi, its radar-like senses triggered. "Don't worry about it— I can take care of all of you guys."

What else was his AQUA contract for, if not abusing the financial aids, after all?

It was only after this very impure thought crossed his mind that he finally followed his Orbeetle's line of sight, his eyes falling over the slightly familiar silhouette.

With the girl wearing a scarf all over her face, it took him a while to recognize her. In fairness, he betted she probably didn't immediately recognize him either with his facemask.

... Geez, he hoped. Otherwise he would feel like kind of a prick!

"Yuina?" He called out, squinting at the tree line.

Getting ready for whatever was coming up the path, Yuina steadily made her way forward through the trees, Pokeball in hand. Inching closer though, and finally getting a clear line of sight, she was faced first with a small, yet incredibly imposing Pokemon with a deadly glare, and then beside it...[break]
"Doug," Yuina returned, standing up straighter and lowering her Pokeball after he had already called out to her.[break][break]
"Doug, oh wow what are you doing out here," Yuina returned, delighted even, to see a familiar face, or at least, most of a familiar face, he too was wearing a covering for his nose and mouth which was fair in the area.

It was Yuina. The youth leaning forward on his bike's handles, a grin stretching across his lips.

"I should be the one asking you that!" He said with a snicker, tapping at his bike. "I am on a trip, remember?"

He looked the young woman over, glad to not find any injuries. Seemed like she hadn't run into any trouble while around here.

"If you are super curious though..." He casually gestured over his shoulder, thumb pointed in Fallarbor's general direction. "I'm helping out at the local public hospital."

Doing a number of house calls as well, but given his lack of a license, it was best to keep that to himself.

An Aaron wandered into view, stumbling out from underneath a boulder— just as a Crabrawler did as well. Needless to say, the two pokemon immediately glared at one another for unspecified reasons.

Doug didn't pay them any mind for the moment.

"How 'bout'cha?" He asked, tilting his head. "Doing a little catchin' on your way to Fallarbor, or...?"

It was in fact Doug, she couldn't quite see his grin but she could hear it, and it was definitely the kind of grin that reached his eyes. Yuina moved forward and came closer to his bike, and she did remember him saying that he was on a trip around the region, moving around the different routes on his bike.[break]
"Oh yeah? Well that's nice of you I'm sure, is this out taking a break then," she wondered, helping out at the local hospital was such a wonderful, noble thing, she was sure he was doing wonderful work there. And it was a stroke of luck then that she may have caught him on a reprieve from his assistance.[break][break]
"Well, I'm having to learn everything all over again, including Pokemon," Yuina returned thoughtfully, the mention didn't shake her near as much as it did the first time she'd admitted it aloud, but that was likely because Doug already knew, and he was the only one who did.[break]
"I haven't been in this area yet, so I'm here to learn about these Pokemon and catch a few new ones too," she replied, and she glanced down at just such a pair of Pokemon that she, like many, had never seen before. The small shimmering steel Pokemon with large blue eyes looked up at her, and squared off like it was getting ready to charge. It was so small though, she didn't want to try and fight it unless she needed to, so she did instead throw a Pokeball at it to see if she could catch it outright without much fuss.

He shrugged his shoulders, smiling dazzlingly. "I have nothing but time."

Wasn't he free to wander the region on a bike? If he, who claimed to be a medic, hadn't dedicated even a little bit of that free time to healing the people, he would've been lower than an orthworm.

"How very studious of ya." He chuckled, cocking his head slightly. "How goes yer studies, then?"

Honestly, he couldn't imagine how she must've felt. Losing his memories, he could comprehend. Losing his knowledge about pokemon, though? It must've been scary as hell when she first regained consciousness after losing her memories; Hadn't she said she woke up in Petalburg woods?

So many bug pokemon...

Actually, that doesn't sound too bad... Wait— no, you mad man, not everyone is a bug maniac like you.

"I've been a couple o'times around this area. Want some suggestions?" He asked, grinning.

He could think of a few local pokemon that a rookie trainer could make great use of.

"For example, you could go for—" He began, turning in a familiar direction to point out what he knew was a colony of Arons—

"What the fuck is that."

Only to find the colony decimated, a weird looking, hammer totting gremlin standing amongst the ashes.

How were her studies going? It was a lot to take on, trying to cram a young lifetime worth of information into just a couple of months... Where most kids grow up learning about Pokemon and can at least recognize a fair handful of them if they pay attention as they grow up, she was having to start all over again. But, she was learning everyday, and doing her best, so that's all she could really do.[break]
"It's... A lot, but I'm managing. I think I've got all of the different types figured out now, and the more different Pokemon I catch the more source material I have to go off of," Yuina returned, if she sat down and thought about it, she was pretty confident that she could remember all of the different types of Pokemon, all... 16? 17?[break][break]
Then there was a commotion off to the side, and a very strange gremlin looking Pokemon with a very, very large hammer swinging wildly at all the other Pokemon in the area... Maybe it was best that it get some distance and not upset the environment in such a way... Yuina did release Kyoko in spite of her shock and the fire type unleashed an Inferno before Yuina tossed over a Pokeball, glancing to Doug...[break][break]
"You've never seen something like that before either," Yuina wondered, what a strange, strange Pokemon it was...

So many species crammed into such a tiny piece of land... It was bound to be a disaster. Even if the world hadn't been going to an end every other week, he had no doubt the rangers would've still been up to their necks dealing with work.

"Nevermind that, though— so the studies are going well, then? That's good to hear! You really don't need to know every little bugger out there." He said. "There's ways to get info even on pokemon you've never heard of before."

The menace taken care of, the other smaller steel type Pokemon were able to flee the area in safety to make sure they could get away, and Yuina pocketed the Pokeball in hopes that the absolutely bizarre Pokemon would remain contained.[break]
"That's okay... I guess there's just that many Pokemon that even someone as well traveled as you hasn't seen them all," Yuina returned, only a bit teasing, she had no room to talk given that her entire frame of reference for Pokemon was only a couple of months worth.[break][break]
"Well, I don't think I could learn every Pokemon that's out there, but I'm just trying to get the basics down... Make sure that I can know how to match up well against a given Pokemon I might encounter...," she said, that was her biggest shortcoming thus far. She didn't know all of the types and what they were strong or weak against, or that dual type combinations could change those things. She really just wanted to make sure she could at least stand a chance on a given day...[break][break]
"A pokedex? No, I haven't yet," Yuina wondered.[break]
"I wonder if I knew any of this stuff before... Or if I wasn't involved with Pokemon and this would have been new information anyway... It's been driving me crazy, not being able to remember anything past a couple of months ago..."
