A VAST DESERT LANDSCAPE dotted with rocky structures and monoliths. Curiously, they almost seem humanmade, though there are no signs of people here. Shrubbery and turquoise crystals are encrusted throughout the bright and sweltering dryland. Occasionally, you may stumble upon rocky terrain that is difficult to traverse.[break][break]

Mysterious obelisks with missing seals are situated throughout the desert. No one knows why they exist, or who made them.

Her decision to partake in this latest expedition into the ULTRA DESERT had purely been for scientific reasons. Sansa figured, as any person in her field would, that a desert, alien or otherwise, would grant a clear and untainted view of the cosmos above. And, to a certain degree, she had been correct. But two particular factors soured this experience for her right from the start.

The first was the fact that the night sky was currently being clouded by the raging dust storms that swept across this harrowing vista. The second was that the expedition group she had been assigned to only consisted of one person.

lykaios athanasia was not someone she had come across in the TEAM ROCKET submarine before. She wasn't entirely sure what his credentials were. But she was almost certain he did not possess the skills to make up for a team of four.

Wearing khaki pants and a light linen shirt, the redhead ties her hair up into a bun as they scale a desert hill to get a better view of things. The hiking pack strapped to her back is full of equipment that makes the exercise that much more brutal. Regardless, Sansa merely wipes the sweat off her brow with the back of her hand and continues on. She's almost insulted when she sees a RELLOR effortlessly pushing an orb of waste up that same hill twice as fast as she, however.

"I suppose this dimension shares a few of the same Pokemon as ours," She notes, stopping to turn over her shoulder and look at her traveling companion. "How much did they tell you about this place before sending you here anyway?"

He remains blissfully ignorant to whatever Sansa Arouet thinks of him, far more invested in taking in the sights. In a place as wild and unpredictable as the Ultra Desert, gathering as much information he can is paramount to ensuring they don’t die at the hands of the supernatural.[break][break]

Where Sansa carries a mountain of equipment, he chooses to carry the bare essentials - Water, his pokeballs and a Rotom phone to take pictures where necessary. At some point, he does consider whether he should offer a hand, but something at the back of his mind insists that she might just snap at him if he tried.[break][break]

“Enough.” His answer is short, to the point. He really doesn’t want to talk more than needed in a desert like this. If not to shy away from that duty sensation on his tongue, then to remain quiet and unnoticed by whatever dwells under these sands.[break][break]

He stops just shy of the top, taking a moment to look around and grasp a lay of the land (which really won’t amount to much, he notes). Out in the far distance, the horizon seems to be swallowed by a cloud: A sandstorm crawling in their direction without any signs of dying down soon. His nose scrunches, an uncomfortable breath of dry air drawn in.[break][break]

“We should try and find cover.”

Sansa makes a face at his flat and one-worded response. And, frankly, she doesn't care if he sees it. She may not be the nicest person herself, but at least she could hold up a conversation and pretend to be. In her world, that was a boon.

Nevertheless, she wasn't one to beg for conversation either. So, instead, she simply huffs and keeps advancing to the top of the hill. It isn't until they reach the aforementioned top that they realize a giant SANDSTORM is headed in their direction. The red-head audibly groans. "I mean I figured this would happen, but not this early... and yeah, you think?"

Taking a moment to scan the horizon for herself, the astronomer points out a rocky ridge embedded in the sand when she sees it. "That looks like our best bet right there. Especially if it's hiding a cave system where we can cool down." She adds, dropping down to one knee as she empties her bag of a telescope, tripod, and other stargazing equipment. "I won't move fast enough if I'm carrying all this, I guess..."

Some time has passed since they started their trek to the rocky ridge. The sandstorm continues to creep up behind them. Their water has run out and a ruthless THIRST has settled in as a result of the sweltering heat as well. Even if Sansa wanted to talk, she couldn't anymore. At least nothing past an unintelligible croak from her dry throat.

Wearing her backpack on her head to shield her face from the sun and sand, she holds out a hand to the rocky ridge in the distance. We're almost there, the gesture says. Just a bit farther.
