Dawn was approaching upon the new landmass that had appeared in Route 105.

Johanna was nervously walking around on the supply ship heading to the southern landing spot. The occasional sailor and other league personnel greeted her with nods and reassurances as she walked by. She tried to offer them reassuring smiles, but found it difficult.

Luckily the Impidimp that followed her around as well was all too eager to imitate its trainer, which resulted in honest chuckles from those passing her by.

In the end Johanna found herself leaning against the right side of the foredeck, blue hair gently bobbing in the wind as she looked out over the waters hoping nothing bad would happen.

Johanna is right to worry.[break][break]

As the ship sails over calm pre-dawn waters, the orange glow of sunrise painting the ocean in beautiful hues, two massive chains suddenly surge from the placid depths. The ANCHOR SHOTS would work in tandem, seeking to curl around the ship.[break][break]

The work of not one Dhelmise, but two.[break][break]

The larger of the two, with its rusted anchor and blood-red colony, lurks beneath the waves. The smaller, its seaweed green and vibrant, breaches the surface. Curled around its anchor is a figure clad in a SYGNA SUIT whose colours compliment the aquatic anchor, deep greens slashed through with the anchor's brown. A chain curls around his left arm.[break][break]

That chain is leveled toward the ship, revealed to be a grappling hook that allows him to draw himself aboard.[break][break]

His rebreather at first conceals his identity, but he pulls it down to speak and pulls off the mask. He zeroes in on Johanna, his smile cold.[break][break]

"You were told to stay away from Rocket's business, Joy." There is no MIASMA, the Sygna Suit suppressing the powers of an Avatar. "Are you going to play nice?"

The blaring alarm system began milliseconds after the Anchor Shots curled around the ship. People ran to their positions, those of the people there that had such things.

Johanna too was about to be on the move when an ominous figure drew himself aboard in front of her. She already had an inclination of who this could be, but when the rebreather was removed it was confirmed.

With teeth gritting she glared daggers at Cilian. “I believe we both know the answer to that.” She was done running. Zev Harcourt might’ve threatened her into submission when she first left. But no more. She would fight Declan Walsh himself if she had to.

Before she could grab a Pokeball and send out one of her actual fighters, the Impidimp by her side jumped into action attempting to subdue Cillian with a SUCKER PUNCH.

She'd grown bolder, it seemed.[break][break]

Displeasure darkens his golden glare, stormclouds gathering before he suddenly disappears in a psychic swirl. His Dhelmise takes the attack in his place, having ALLY SWITCHED into the oncoming SUCKER PUNCH.[break][break]

Cillian grapples back aboard the ship as it rocks violently from the sudden disappearance of one of the restraining chains.[break][break]

"Then suffer for it."[break][break]

Tropical waters contaminated with a sickly purple hue heave up from the ocean, the SLUDGE WAVE crashing over the side of the vessel and seeking to drown those aboard in its toxic tide.

The Ship rocks violently back and forth as its balance is offset. Johanna throws herself at the nearest steady item trying to keep her balance in the process.

Ominously Cillian’s words gave forewarning of what was to come. A wave of Sludge washed over the ship, washing away all that wasn’t secure.

Even Johanna wasn’t safe as the sickly waters grabbed her and tried to pull her off the ship. She found her hand slipping, only saved by the grace of the Marshadow she had been in the process of releasing from its Pokéball moments earlier. It’s shadowy hands holding tightly onto a nearby edge.

The Impidimp wasn’t quite as lucky. It’s tiny frame was no match for the wave. Its tiny arms tried to swim against the wave, but with cries of fear and despair was it dragged over the edge hitting just about every edge it could, before plunging into the deep murky waters below, never to be heard from again?

As the wave diminished she came to realize the awful truth. Though she wanted to jump over the edge of the ship to save Impidimp, she knew she couldn't. It would only put herself in danger and the chance of saving it was slim to none. She had to let it go, and focus. Perhaps that was the one useful thing the Rocket Grunt training had taught her?

Either way with anger in her eyes she gave the Marshadow a command. "Knock that Dhelmise out."

The Marshadow jumped into action, charging in a zig-zag pattern toward the Dhelmise readying itself to deliver a FIRE PUNCH to the anchor.

Meanwhile Johanna would take a short moment to look around, see if she was truly the only one left on the ship or if there was other trainers she might rally against Cillian.

Prepared for his own Pokemon's assault against the ship, Cillian uses his hook to pull himself clear of the SLUDGE WAVE. Johanna's Impidimp is not so lucky, and the underboss watches without remorse as it's pulled beneath the churning sea.[break][break]

He can see Johanna's anger as she sends out another combatant, and her verbal command gives him enough time to respond in kind. A sharp whistle gets the attention of the lurking anchor, and a hand signal directs it.[break][break]

A WHIRLPOOL forms around the shadow Pokemon as it pulls beneath the vortex, dampening the incoming blow.[break][break]

Aboard the ship, the Sygna Dhelmise aims its POWER WHIP toward Johanna directly, looking to send her the way of her fallen Impidimp.

The water began to churn around the ship, the whirlpool threatening to take the ocean vehicle into the depths below. Quickly Johanna took action, intent on halting it before it grew too powerful. She summoned a Dusknoir to her side and commanded it. “Disable the Whirlpool.”

A command which it was quick to act on flying into the air above the ship before sending its mystical DISABLE’ing forces into the waters hoping to quell the hungry Whirlpool.

But Johanna could ill afford to place her attention somewhere else. Cillian used his other Dhelmise to attack her directly. Luckily she barely managed to dodge the whip, as it cracked past her, destroying parts of the ship flooring in the process. Had she been a second slower, it might’ve been an arm or leg, or even worse her life, that had been cracked.

The sound of the whip alerted Marshadow. Realizing its mistake, panic overtook the little ghost. Marshadow began to glow as its shadowy body burned a bright green and yellow as it released all the power in a move that might cause more devastation to the ship than intended.

With blinding speed did Marshadow charge at the Dhelmise whose POWER WHIP threatened its trainer.

The blood-red Dhelmise lets out a horrible noise like the rending of metal as it finds its WHIRLPOOL DISABLED; Cillian draws his attention back to him with a sharp whistle. He signals to the ghost, who disappears into the shadows of a PHANTOM FORCE.[break][break]

His other Dhelmise is not so lucky to avoid further harm. No PROTECTION could shield it from the fury of the Marshadow, whose attack strikes hard and true. It lashes out with a BRUTAL SWING, potentially hitting everything afield. It's mirror ally is saved by its vanishing to the ethereal realm, but Cillian must throw himself down against the deck to avoid being struck by the tendrils of seaweed that whip overhead.[break][break]

"Give up, Joy!" he sneers. "You can't win."[break][break]

Attuning to the energy within the SYGNA SUIT, Cillian sets up a PHYSICAL SHIELD that shimmers around himself and the Dhelmise.

Like Cillian, Johanna finds herself forced onto the deck, lying as flat as possible as the Brutal swing flies over her.

Marshadow was not so lucky. It had foregone defense for pure unadulterated offense. It felt the gracing blows of furious seaweeds, though it managed to stick close. It would do as Johanna had demanded, fight until the Dhelmise was knocked out.

SPECTRAL THIEF would be its choice of attack, signified with the eerie dark purple glow that coated its punches. Punches it would keep throwing regardless of whether it was hitting Dhelmise or the shimmering barrier generated.

“You sound awfully sure about that!” Johanna edged on, while rolling to the safety of some conveniently placed crates on the ship. Crates that were sure to not last long. “But you are just another trainer.” She let the rest be implied hoping this would be enough of a blow to his ego that he might grow reckless.

Still, even if he did grow reckless she needed a plan that was better than this. Especially if Lugia decided to show its ugly mug.

Wait, where is Lugia? The dreadful question bore into the shield of bravery she was covering behind.

Meanwhile Dusknoir was busy in the air dodging what stray seaweeds tried to reach for it. Disable doing its job. Seeing the opponent being gone Dusknoir did the only thing it could in a situation like that, frantically throwing SHADOW PUNCHES around left, right, behind, in front, above, below, expecting an attack coming from any of these directions. Even if this was certain to be a futile endeavor.

Though the PHYSICAL SHIELD softens the Marshadow's blow, Cillian still feels a sharp pang of WORRY as his Dhelmise takes the hit. The SYNC STONE embedded in the head of the grappling hook pulses with energy as it responds to his heightened emotion, beginning to SLOWLY HEAL his injured partner.[break][break]

Once, Johanna's goading might have worked. He'd thought himself a god among men, but a clash with Raziel Beckett had shown him the error of those ways. He was human as anyone else, with only the MIASMA to guide his steps — and with his avatar powers disabled by the Suit, he's even more cautious. One false step could land him in League custody.[break][break]

He can't let that happen.[break][break]

Yet offering no insight to the thoughts within, he replies, "Am I?"[break][break]

He whistles, a click of his tongue commanding the red Dhelmise to act. SHADOWS coalesce into solid form, tendrils of void that slink around the battered ship to HOLD it in place. Another whistle-click sees the green Dhelmise take advantage, hurling another ANCHOR SHOT toward the hull. The horrible shriek of metal-on-metal assaults his ears.[break][break]

"The ship or your lives." He could only secure one, and either would aid Rocket's mission. He words it as a threat, leaning into bravado. "Or shall I take both?"

Whether Cillian had grown humble since last she had seen him or he had already seen through her ploy, she could not tell. But Johanna found little time to ponder this as Cillian posed to her a dilemma.

The Ship or the lives onboard.

She wondered for a moment how many were still onboard, if any. They certainly had yet to come to her aid if they were still here.

But while Johanna pondered this, the Dusknoir tried to spring into action hurtling itself at the Dhelmise firing Anchor shots at the Hull in a flurry of SHADOW PUNCHES. Meanwhile, Marshadow would similarly attempt to move through shadows in a hurry attempting to SUCKER PUNCH the Dhelmise tendrils wrapping themselves around the Ship.

She figured the offer was but a deception, lies to make her lower her guard, and so all Johanna would offer Cillian was a simple rebuttal. “You really want me to believe that you’d let any of us go?”
