The burning beam of dynamax energy just barely grazed the Trevenant, and yet the pain it felt in the process was awful.

It didn’t know if it could even handle one more of those. But it did not matter. It would fight as long as Johanna demanded it, even if it meant standing against a power strong enough to move a CONTINENT on its own.

Though worry was painted clearly on Johanna’s face she knew she could not leave compatriots to fight alone, even if she wanted to. And so she looked onto the battlefield to see if her gaze would fall on someone in need of help. There she saw Andrea Vaneau and quickly commanded.

“Protect Andrea’s Pokemon.” She pointed toward the Nidoqueen-coloured Nidoking.

Trevenant quickly went to work, like before trying to make itself a barrier between itself and any attack or debri flying toward the Pokemon as it INGRAINed itself in the ground for healing.

The bombastic side-eye was noted by Johanna, but she did not let it affect her too much. Instead she turned her attention to Alexei.

She entered, as casually as one might given the situation.

“I appreciate the offer, but I do not partake.” Johanna declined. A soft, concerned smile pointed at Alexei as she would give his question a proper answer.

“I have not come to laugh.” A solemn tone in her voice. “How are you holding up?” She figured there was sure to be a thousand things going through his head right one. She only prayed she could help lighten the burden of them.



MISSION: Post Prismatic Penitentiary

Sand met with psychic waves splashing upward in an almost beautiful arc before covering the monkey.

But the monkey was not alone. Okidogi charged at Johanna. Frozen in fear there was little she could do. But realising its trainer was in danger the sandcastle hurried back to protect her.

Strands of sand flew as quickly as the ghost could carry itself, reforming in front of Johanna tall and mighty like an impenetrable castle shining with EARTHen POWER before diving forward intent on giving the Okidogi the same treatment as its monkey partner.



MISION: TERA TUNNELLING: ACT 2

Johanna listened with patience as the drug was explained to her. She took note of its intricacy, and tried to prepare herself for what she was about to experience. Deep down she knew there was no way she would be prepared.

She offered the Shiinotic a smile as well, and an appreciative nod for all the work it was about to do, and when the time came for a safeword to be given she had to think for a moment. Knowing it needed to be a word that wouldn’t naturally come up in any conversation during battle there was only one word.

“The safeword is Whitmore.” She informed the Shiinotic. And with that her focus would move to the battlefield.

“As ready as can be!”

She swallowed the pill as Claydol took to the field. First move was on her, so while she still had her senses about her she commanded. “Dazzling Gleam!”

Bright rainbow coloured light erupted from Claydol toward the Grimmsnarl.

Johanna’s surprise was evident as the building disappeared, bleachers and audience alongside it. Rain began to hit her, and naturally she thought that she was about to be drenched, but upon closer inspection she did not feel wet.

Ah, an illusion. Johanna reminded herself.

“Indeed!” Johanna mused, a jesting smile beamed at the Gym Leader.

“Keep on the offensive.” Johanna instructed. And as Sunny Day brightened the skies she decided to take advantage of it.

“Mystical Fire”

The Flutter Mane was quick to let the almost forming ghost energies dissipate into the air as it changed move. A small spark flickered in front of the ghost before a roaring blaze empowered by the bright sun flew toward the Lurantis.

They survived another moment against the Steel Giant. But truly for all their efforts it only seemed to grow stronger, and stronger. She had a feeling that though they were all fighting, supporting,shielding and healing valiantly this round would prove RUINOUS to them.

But that didn’t mean she was going to give up. No, she would do her best alongside Trevenant. Though having Shielded Josh for a moment, the tree returned to her side carrying her away from the danger of rampant steel fists and huge lasers fired with deadly intent.

“Thanks, but don’t worry about me, we need to help them.” Johanna stated. The Trevenant wasn’t convinced.

Johanna returned to letting her gaze look out on the battlefield hoping to find someone or something she could help with. That’s when she spotted Yuina Higashi getting ready to strike.

A plan formed in her head. “Hauke, curse that spot!” Johanna pointed to what she assumed was the place that Yuina was planning to strike. And Trevenant quickly went to work chanting the very FOREST’S CURSE on that particular spot, hoping to weaken the otherwise very powerful steel body.

To stand against this giant was a daunting task. As Trevenant laid a curse upon their enemy, Johanna found herself reconsidering her decision to be here.

But it was too late to back down now. Luckily she wasn’t in any immediate danger it seemed, for like an ant she found places to hide herself. But others did not seem so fortunate, at least from her perspective. And from her little pocket of safety she took stock of the situation around her, concerned eyes looking for those in need of help.

Her gaze noticed a familiar face. A face that seemed all too eager to throw himself far too close to the titanic Robot. Not that she was surprised, she had come to expect this of Josh Devlin. For a moment she considered forcing him into safer distances by having her CLAYDOL teleport him away, but she knew his ire would not take it kindly, and so instead she directed her Trevenant’s attention toward him.

“Protect him.” Was all the order she said as she pointed at Josh.

The living tree jumped into action jumping in front of the first attack it thought would hit Josh Devlin, SHIELDING the rider as it INGRAINed its roots deep and suckled on the power of the earth to bolster its own defenses.

The Ping wakes her up from deep slumber. The message at first odd, she remembered nothing about SEELE, as other memories had taken hold and hidden it. But after some digging she remembered the strangeness of their recruitment methods, she remembered the Rotom, and she remembered what and why she had joined.

And so, though she was tired she pressed YES and allowed herself to be pulled into the virtual space.



But the form that appeared was not that of Johanna, but a jester garbed in toned-down bright colors. Its form is hard to tell properly beneath the cloak it theatrically wore. Bells jingling quietly, gently from the tips of the long trails on its hat, no louder than they could easily be ignored. Its face covered by a smiling mask.

One might have been inclined to believe that this would be a FOOL. But it was not for upon closer inspection three upright cups could be spotted, one on each shoulder and the last on its chest. The Three Cups had arrived filled to the brim with eagerness to bring positivity to the world.

Even Johanna had to take a moment to study her appearance in surprise by her new form within this virtual space. But before long she turned her focus to the table taking a seat as she gave everyone a mildly exaggerated friendly wave.

“Greetings!” The Jester spoke, its voice muffled into a strange distorted mix between male and female. “I pray what little sleep everyone got has left you all well-rested?” Even through its distortion there was a certain genuine positivity to the Jesters statement.

By the time Johanna had heard about what was going on there were no giants to fight but a giant STEEL automaton.

Had the ancient behemoth stayed quiet and peaceful she would not have been inclined to attack. But it was raining boulders down upon everyone. And for that it had to be stopped.

Trevenant was her choice of Pokémon as she stood upon the field of the Registeel’s wrath. Protected by the trunk of her large Pokémon, she took a moment to formulate a plan. Assuming that the other trainers here might throw fire at the thing, and assuming it was a steel type she could make said fire even more effective.

“Hauke, give it the ol’ Forest’s Curse!”

The Trevenant rumbled and roared as it raised its arms into the air, summoning the dark foreboding grass-type energies which it sent at the giant monster, aiming to place the curse of Grass-type weakness upon it.

After all the messed up things that had happened Johanna needed a break, and she figured Josh Devlin needed one too.

Inviting him to Joyland had been one possible solution. And perhaps they still would, since Joyland and her Family Estate were on the same island. But right now the primary objective was to enjoy a nice calming brunch. A taste of the good life that everyone, especially Josh, deserved to have.

And for that there was no better place than the Joy estate, a grand property some appropriate distance away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With its well-manicured lands it surrounded the old, but well kept, building with an air of serenity alongside its perfect ocean view.

Johanna was currently resting in a chair, enjoying the sun that was growing ever higher in the skies with not a cloud to challenge its dominion. Around her servants were busying themselves with preparations for the guest to come. A round table was being prepared with all sorts of delectable goodies. Johanna hoped this wouldn’t be too much. She had to take advantage when she had the place to herself for once.

But those were not the only ones, there was staff working on the land too, and others that worked security. She figured whenever Josh arrived he might stumble upon them, and so she had informed them of his arrival. Though she did not know when he would arrive, the trip from Mauville to Ever Grande was a long one after all.

LOCATION: Joy Family Estate.

The calling of her name elicited an almost automatic response as she ranked herself up, put on her best conversational smile and readied herself to meet whoever called for her.

“No need to thank me, it was my pleasure to be able to offer Hoenn a chance to wind down for a moment.” Johanna replied. Her smile grew beyond just being polite and into something more appreciative of the efforts that had been acknowledged. “Hopefully the future will allow me to do something similar again.”

Johanna set to following the Gym Leader. Quickly finding herself matching the speed the Gym Leader set.

“Well, I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise of what exactly those pills will make me experience.” Johanna began. “But I am curious. What’s in them?”

The walk was short, but each step felt like an eternity on the path that Hideo led. But in the end they reached the arena.

Johanna noted the lack of features, as well as the people. This was far from the bombastic extravagance she had applied to her own Gym back in the day. But she liked it, it had its charm.

Johanna took her position as contestant, and with a quick throw of a Pokéball she sent her chosen Pokemon out.

The Flutter Mane cheerily greeted every with its ghostly voice. A quick few shakes of its fluttering mane prepared it for battle.

It wouldn’t take long before Johanna gave the first command.

“Shadow Ball.”

A black and purple ball of energy formed in front of Flutter Many for a moment before it was fired in the direction of Lurantis.

Claydol floated by her side as the pair made their way into the Psychedelic Chateau. Nervousness nipping at her heels as it always did when she went somewhere new. Though this would not be her first Gym Challenge by a long shot, this would be the first one taken after the incident.

Johanna wasn’t about to let what happened stop her. No, she would press on. She would prove that she had not become a lesser trainer after what happened. She would also make Megan Whitmore proud. But that was a whole other thing.

Anyhow, she stepped through the entrance, quickly glancing around to find a Gym Trainer or even the Gym Leader, to let them know that she had arrived.

“Hi, I am here for the Challenge.”
