Her heart quivers as she lets out a rather uncomfortable breath. Shaky as she may be, she still does her best to seek comfort from ruffling Reiner's mane. Oh, but as she peers over at the alcohol swab, she notes just how red it seems to be getting.[break][break]

"Nothing a tough cookie like you can't handle." That would be especially true after a Shinx bandaid. He was 99% sure the existence of a Rockruff one was just so she could feel like she had a say in the matter.[break][break]

That said, were life-saving blood tests supposed to turn that red? It had been a while since he'd gotten his shots (a subject he'd lied to Doug about to avoid getting needled in an ass), but he was pretty sure if just a gentle puncture was doing that to her skin, something was up.[break][break]

Maybe she wasn't lying when she said she bumped into things in her sleep.[break][break]

Eris wasn't a soft kid. She was always running around, getting in over her head, and dealing with more pain than she reasonably should. She was no stranger to taking her lumps. Hell, she didn't even bruise this bad when he'd found her in the aftermath of that horrid Beedrill attack. To go from that to Princess and the Pea levels of fragile just didn't add up.[break][break]

Isaac's eyes met Doug's, waiting to see if he'd come to the same conclusion.

Doug frowned as the ball of cotton quickly turned from white to crimson, before vanishing it to the shadow realm as he turned a smile to Eris, nodding.

He met Isaac's gaze, though only briefly. Indeed— something was obviously wrong. Luckily, they now had the means to check out what it might be— thanks in great part to Isaac.

"One Lil' Reiner, coming right up." He said, pulling out the Shinx bandaid and removing the cotton ball— before gently pressing it atop the wound.

He might've sneaked in a little healing scale in there. No reason to leave a hole in there.

"Anywho! Here's for a good girl—" He said, reaching into his bag and pulling another box.

"Leppa juice or Oran juice?" He asked, before popping open the box's other lid. "Oh, and— chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie?"

He wasn't just trying to regain big brother points after coming out looking like the bad guy in all of this— it was best to quickly replenish Eris' blood and sugar levels if she was to... well, keep fucking around and finding out in this battlefield.

But yeah, getting back points was also part of it.

Handing off the blood vial to Garo and nodding, the bug quickly moved away to get the sample to the right people.

"Tell 'em it's mine." He said simply. No reason to put it officially on record that Eris had been there.

Turning back to his sister and— patient? half-brother? Something like that— Doug, still squatted before them, cocked his head.

"I would like it if y'all took it easy from here on out, but... what'cha gonna do?"

If he didn't run the risk of smooshing poor Eris under his paws, he might have tried to pat her head in turn for doing her best.[break][break]

Oh well, he can leave that to the two fussy brother figures present. One of which seems to be pulling out bribe after bribe from his bag.[break][break]

Bribes that Eris is all too happy to consider, especially when they're so geared towards her preferences. Her hands are immediately outstretched for the juice box, fingers wrapping around the smooth corners as she pokes the straw into it and takes a sip.[break][break]

"'m tired."[break][break]

With her team out of action and her mental thoroughly worn down -[break][break]

"I just wanna go back..."

Isaac shot Reiner a knowing look, knowing damn well that the Luxray was the only one who could stop her from running off into danger for the thousandth time. "You need us for anything else, doc? Or is this a discharge til the results come in?"[break][break]

That begged the question. What would he do? As an Avatar, as someone as fast and free as the northern wind, he could be anywhere he wanted. More cynically, he could be anywhere the League wanted. In some ways, their interests aligned. He could evacuate civilians from the island with ease. He could search for the missing and rescue PoWs. While nowhere near as talented as Doug, basic first aid and rejuvenating waters could let him give a quick fix to anyone in need.[break][break]

He could also fight any Rocket he couldn't reach, a number that was growing much faster than he'd wanted it to.[break][break]

Sure, he could do all of those things. Or maybe, just maybe, he could take on a more important mission. "Hey. I got you, alright?" he said, smiling at the girl who was exhausted to her limits both physically and mentally. "The island can wait. I'll be right there until I know you're okay."[break][break]

Whether following by his side, or scooped up in his arms to be carried away, it was time for Isaac to bring Eris home.

He smiled warmly as Eris reached for the juice box eagerly. Thank god, bribe successful.

And hey, better yet: She wanted out of Mad Max Island.

Doug swallowed back some thankful prayers.

He rolled his gaze over to Isaac as he spoke next, swallowing down another sigh of relief— he couldn't really afford to leave yet, so if Isaac was willing to escort her home... Two birds, one juice box.

"Nah." Doug said as he rose, patting off the dirt from his knees.

His troops could've used some the fighting force, specially from an avatar and a terror tot; he wasn't about to put friends or others at direct risk for more manpower, though.

"We got it handled over here; Could you see Eris home?" He asked of the blonde, smiling at both. "I'll swing by once things are over. Promise."

There'd be no need to run like the wind this time. Instead, slowly, carefully, he would turn to walk away. His pace was so steady, and his arms were so supportive, that the poor, exhausted girl might've just ended up dozing off in his arms.[break][break]

If she did, she'd find herself waking up to her promised home.

Before it got cold... well, wasn't that a vague deadline.

Still, he grinned.

"I'll make it." He said, holding up his hand to her as Isaac picked her up, his pinkie extended towards her. "Pinkie promise."

He turned his gaze over to Isaac, nodding at him slowly. He was trusting him with her safety.

Given how many times people had failed Eris, he was somewhat apprehensive... but Isaac seemed as close, if not closer than him, to Eris.

He could trust him. Hopefully.
