Exhaustion has Genny struggling. Her body was on empty already, but she still accepted the recon mission in the skies. Rocket never seemed to sleep, so neither should she, but in her efforts, she had been beaten, battered, bruised, but not broken. Whether it was the Rockets who came near the shoreline who took her on head-to-head (Tempest Quinn, Victoria Beckett, fern delaney), the ones in the sky who forced her to adapt (mint frost, dorian westcliff), or the ones who abused her trust (Aurelie Lefevre, marcus kotov), Genny was on empty. She couldn't take much more.[break][break]

It was supposed to be an easy scouting mission. Pet Shop wasn't as tired as she was, but she took the reigns, and Genny could relax. As much as she could. Covered in bandages and bruises, some of which that came directly from her recent fight (fern delaney ), Genny holds on in the sky on her saddle. Her eyes weakly stay open.[break][break]

"Stay steady, Pet Shop... we're almost done."[break][break]

The bird looked back in fear, but stayed the course. She'd keep Genny safe as much as she could. A flap of her wings beat harder, as she soared in the sky, over the clouds.

He arrives late.

[break][break] For there are many reasons why a Rocket Admin might not have appeared at the frontlines. Perhaps if this had been Littleroot or the Ultra Deep Sea, perhaps if they were on the cusp of war and not some scientific discovery, declan walsh would have sent Jayden earlier. Or perhaps, if he'd had better control of his powers, the scientists would not have been so intent on strapping him to tables, stabbing needles into his skin.

[break][break] Whatever the reason, Jayden was here now. The newly-named Chien Pao avatar soared the skies, with no sight of his scorned God in check. While Rocket could restrain the Admin, no amount of malevolence could control a deity that was the definition of deadly.

[break][break] But here, in the open skies, there was no Rocket. No League.

[break][break] Just the Cursed, and whoever had the misfortune of crossed his path.

[break][break] Verinka is attached to his back, carrying him afloat, when they spotted her. "BZZT." The fire and poison-type IRON MOTH glows with the power of sunlight as it locks onto their enemy.

Had it been another few minutes, Genevieve may have fallen asleep atop her Pidgeot. Pet Shop was warm... and she was busy thinking about Hazel, Ebony, and Serenity. Eyes prick with pain, but unfortunately for her, the suffering didn't stop.[break][break]

The Iron Moth that glows like the sun is imposing, as Genny's head pivots upwards to the threat that looks down upon her, and her face mats in fear.[break][break]

She could lie. She could lie, and get out of this. But there was an honor in her, that pulls her to her feet atop of Pet Shop, heavy breathing. Shaky legs. She pulls out her Ranger badge, as Pet Shop flaps her wings from below. Genny didn't fear the deep blue sky anymore. What she feared more were the predators the sky was filled with.[break][break]

The badge comes out.[break][break]

"Senior Ranger Genevieve Cromwell."[break][break]

And hazel eyes fill with exhausted determination, as shaky legs barely keep her up. Her bandaged face, and tattered and bruised body took too much of a beating this whole mission.[break][break]

"That's my line... name and purpose..." She fears she already knows. She was already slightly embarassed that she attempted to arrest one of them before. So she holds that to herself, and just... waits. Maybe he was friendly.[break][break]

Unfortunately, naivety had already beaten and battered her hopes, and even compromise didn't seem likely, even if she strived for it.[break][break]

Her shoulders tense, as she prepares for their first move.

Ranger.

[break][break] For a brief, flickering moment, he's reminded of lykaios athanasia. Rangers were part of the League, and yet they weren't. They were for the people.

[break][break] But then he thinks of Laurence Anderson and Elinor Anderson, and their selfishness. The way that they were willing to fight for themselves more than Hoenn citizens. HATRED blisters in his chest, and there's no hope any longer for Genevieve Cromwell.

[break][break] "Ranger, if you know what's good for you," he says, voice scathing. "Surrender."

[break][break] Suctioned onto his arm is his Inkay. With a flash of his wrist, pointing towards her, he flings it towards her. Anton's tentacles aim to WRAP around her mouth, or her body, or whatever he can touch.

This is so messed up. As she stands so shakily, she can practically see the double vision. She already seemed beaten beyond the limit, what reason did this Rocket have? Was it some grudge? Was this virtue's last reward for trying to be a good person? To believe in idealism? Just to be beaten again... and again... and again... and again...[break][break]

Genny's hazels look exhausted, but it's only made worse when she is forced to throw an arm up, to block the Inkay with her left arm. Which now, was WRAPPED, and lets out a cry.[break][break]

"No!" She almost looked crazed, as her left arm feels the compression, collapsing back to the Pidgeot in pain. Pet Shop nods. And flies, Genny grabbing with her right, and holding on for dear life.[break][break]

"So long as there's a means for something better, I will never surrender." She wants to believe. She wants to hope. The Pidgeot looked on with fury upon the Rocket, an AERIAL ACE locked towards the Rocket's location, in an intent to fight back. To show that hope.[break][break]

For Pet Shop, given lovingly as a gift... she wouldn't let Genny go down. Not like this. Even in their short time together, the bird would ensure Genny keeps moving forward.[break][break]

No matter what.

Exhaustion... Genny declares it as such. She wants to believe. Can she even believe it that dream? The one she declared so handily towards mint frost ? Yet, as she can feel her mind buckling away, Pet Shop runs head first into hell. The hell of a SOLAR BEAM. The unfortunate truth is, the Pidgeot has very, very, very little choice.[break][break]

She bucks, and throws Genny upwards, running through the blast HEAD-ON to connect the AERIAL ACE, if its the last thing she does, with Genny now thrown with the Inkay directly at the Rocket.[break][break]

With anything left in her, if Rocket was playing dirty, so would she.[break][break]

"TEETER, CALYPSO! SHOW HIM THE WA-aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!" she shouts, and from her Pokeball, even if she misses, falling into the sky, the Oricorio blasts outwards towards the rocket in a blast of red feathers, intent to TEETER DANCE everything. Genny. The Inkay. Jayden. Iron Moth. Pet Shop.[break][break]

Everything subjected to a chaotic level of confusion, to try and knock the Rocket out of the air with her. If she's going down, she's not going down alone.[break][break]

Pet Shop, scorched, burned, and scorched by that Solar Beam, burns all over her body, begins to plummet after her mark is guaranteed hit...

Flung upwards into the sky like a satellite, Jayden blinks with surprise. For a moment, the whirling HATRED that storms his gut ceases.

[break][break] Surprise. A TEETER DANCE explodes in his face, confusion flooding his senses.

[break][break] It's just that. The last remaining resistance he has. A surge of seething HATRED courses straight through him, rekindling an unrelenting winter tempest.

[break][break] The movement has Verinka releasing him into the sky, as a tornado of ICE CRYSTALS soar through the sky towards Genevieve Cromwell.

[break][break] Towards Genny, her Pidgeot, and eventfully, his own Inkay.

There's really no way to tackle this one. Pet Shop is currently barely awake, skydiving, and Genny is tired of falling in the sky, but the deadly combination of disorientation of the confusion and exhaustion from overexertion has her not catch the anger behind the Rocket's moves, and the winter storm comes her direction. Everything feels frozen, but the only thing she can do is ensure the Inkay feels it too.[break][break]

Everything is spinning, and she can't see what way is up. And worse, she can't see Pet Shop anymore. So, here she is, falling through the sky, as Calypso attempts her damndest to fly, knowing she could not carry Genny's weight. The only one who can help is falling through the open air, unconscious.[break][break]

...[break][break]

She pats the Inkay. She could never do this to a little guy. "Let go, little one... you don't have to die too. Your Trainer will come for you." She smiles, even through the pain she felt from the Inkay still hurt. Everything hurt so much... but maybe she wouldn't have to lie. Whether the Inkay listens or not... well, that's their decision. But, with Pet Shop unable to come to... it was over. Just the wait before.[break][break]

She closes her eyes.[break][break]

...[break][break]

The Ice Crystals had jumpstarted the badly burnt Pidgeot, and with the soaring speed, what left she had in her, Pet Shop races downwards. Her feathers burnt, her speed slowed, she has little option. She doesn't want to leave Genny until she's okay. And so, Pet Shop does her damndest to close the distance. The distance that widens between them. One final push from the caw, one final swoop. To keep her safe. And so she will go... she pushes with everything in the tank.[break][break]

Catching Genny... but still plummeting.[break][break]

Pull up... just one more time.[break][break]

Pet Shop lay there now. Fleeting life. Protecting Genny under her body. Eyes losing that shine ever so slowly... she couldn't fully cushion the fall. The Inkay did though. Now a pile of goo on the ground. Genny was alive and well. Unconscious. But alive, with Calypso flapping her wings from above.

- Pet Shop, with all the energy she can, helps to break her fall. Genny's landing is lessened by landing atop the Inkay. Killing it on impact.[break]
- Unconscious, Pet Shop is barely alive, dying moments after, to keep Genny save below her body. To make it look like Genny died too.
