“Ha. Can’t imagine what sort of goliath he’d be,” he remarks with a snort of laughter.[break][break]

There’s no way. Matias is already nearly double his own height. Lam usually feels like a pipsqueak comparatively. Especially when standing next to him. His altaria trills in low warning, not seeming to enjoy whatever vibe is coming from that distorted house.[break][break]

Given that he’s never been here, he follows rather than lead the charge toward the ranch house’s door. That is, until they’re pulled straight there with the weird, skipping pull of the pocket universe. He looks around, curious. Whatever the difference is between this and the real thing, he has no clue.[break][break]

“Maybe?” He looks over with a frown as he pokes at a throw pillow situated against a couch arm. “What gives it away?”

the throw pillow lam logan pokes at back his claim as it had been one she chose. he can't remember if they bought it together or if it had been one she brought from her old place. his lips thin, bothered by his fading memory.[break][break]

a few moments later, a familiar ROAR comes from outside, followed by the breaking of glass as a figure is flung through the window and into the house. they slam into the floor, skidding until they hit the fireplace.[break][break]

the figure snaps their head at lam, and as they slowly stand up, it becomes clear who they are.[break][break]

“Oh.” Lam grimaces, “Awkward.”[break][break]

Or at least he would feel awkward, anyway. But it pulls a thread in his mind, and tugs at an idea. “Is that…” he picks at his words carefully, fingers still absently fiddling with the tassel at the corner of one of the pillows. “...liiiikkkeee, something you wished were the case?”[break][break]

The subject of Eva and what Matias is up to in this particular arena is not a subject that Lam has ever really gone out of his way to broach. But if this is some sort of alternate dimension, was it born from what the other regretted? Or wishes had stayed the same?[break][break]

That’s his line of thought, until the garble sound erupts from outside, followed by the sudden splintering of wood and glass.[break][break]

“Uh–” he doesn’t really have much time to react as the weird iteration of Matias full body tackles him and knocks the wind out of him as they crash against the hardwood floor.[break][break]

“Lil help,” he manages to wheeze out from under the much bigger, more imposing figure, as he tries to throw elbows at his face.

lam logan's question will go unanswered, lost to the chaos that plays out before them.[break][break]

his hand raises as though to conjure the earth only for nothing to happen. the stack of movies beneath the tv doesn't even move, not even home alone. "...?" one look at distorted!matias is all it takes for him to know that his powers are being negated, each attempt to manipulate the earth is countered.[break][break]

lam's elbows connect but they don't do damage as intended. distorted!matias seems to flicker in and out of existence, like a fleeting shadow that fears the light.[break][break]

"hold on."[break][break]

not really sensing the urgency yet, he steps forward and tries to kick his alternate self in the face.

Kinda rude to interrupt their conversation. Sure, they're in this Matias' house, but still. It's not like they knew anyone was there.[break][break]
Lam doesn't notice Matias' failure to conjure the earth to bend at his will. He's too busy trying to push the other Matias off of him. "Urk-" A hand shoves back as Lam's own swats at his face. "Matias," he blurts impatiently as he fails to roll out from under his assailant.[break][break]
The kick results in a crack of sound, and Lam flinches before scrambling back - finally free. Only to see alt!Matias rolling up and diving for the real one - hands outstretched.[break][break]
"Heads up!"

not bothering to move even as he's being charged at, matias readies himself to take a hit only for nothing to happen again. he blinks, and suddenly the world around them shifts, now upside down only for it to all fade away.[break][break]

when he opens his eyes again, he finds himself now back in what he assumes to be the real world; or at least the world they originally came from. his phione floats by his side, confused.[break][break]
