Her Butterfree's abrupt TELEPORT landed her in the center of the nearest Rocket encampment, outside of a healing tent manned by several members of the organization that Elisabeth barely recognized. Her time as underboss had made her less and less aware of the lower rung of Rockets, seeing them all as a sea of faceless and replaceable entities.[break][break]

For that reason alone she wouldn't recognize Xiura Balfaltin, as much as for the masks they'd both worn during the Winter Masquerade many, many months ago.[break][break]

"Fucking Rangers," she swore under her breath as she cradled her injured arm close, annoyed beyond measure at this delay in her greater plans. If she wasn't in ideal fighting shape, how was she to achieve her objective? To think a single, stupid man -- jack wainwright -- could compromise her whole operation...[break][break]

She shook her head, black curls shifting with the movement as she bit the thought back. No. Nothing will compromise the mission. I will not allow it.[break][break]

"How severe is the wound?" she asked the woman next to her with an unreasonable sharpness that insisted on being answered. "I cannot be detained here long."

The healing tent was a bleak if efficient environment, patients frequently rotating in and out as they were treated for their injuries, both minor and more serious. A couple of pained sobs and groans could be heard behind various screens thrown up for the sake of a semblance of privacy.

Clefairy waved a couple of glittery silver pom poms like little crystablooms around in a valiant effort at increasing morale.
[break][break]
In the meantime, Xiura and her Gardevoir tended to wounds, Hatterene close by to monitor for any signs of aggression outside.

To her surprise, Elisabeth Fiorelli entered the tent, bleeding from a hastily-bandaged arm.
[break][break]
In response to her question, Xiura first offered her a disposable cup of pain medicine tablets as well as a plastic bottle of water.
[break][break]
Gardevoir glided closer to the Rocket underboss, humming as she and Xiura unwrapped her stained bandages and looked at her injuries.
[break][break]
"Your arm should be better soon with a few Heal Pulses from Gardevoir over a few hours," Xiura estimated. Gardevoir started her healing process as her trainer explained. "The tissue will gradually regenerate, more quickly than if left on its own, but blood loss and dehydration will take time to recover from. As will recovering your energy," she said calmly and cautiously.

She took a foil-wrapped tube of tablets and offered one to Elisabeth. "If you add this to your water, it can replenish electrolytes and rehydrate you faster," she compromised. "Please consider that the more time you take to recover from this, the better you will feel during your next battle."

The woman definitely looked worse for wear, and it was Xiura's responsibility as a healer to provide the best care and advice possible. It was up to the patient to accept it or not, in the end.

Each soothing reassurance from the soft-spoken woman next to her irritated Elisabeth all the more, like a Salazzle's claw snagging unexpectedly on a slippery sheet of silk. She'd never much cared for medical treatment; she'd never much cared to be cared for, period.[break][break]

All that said, the HEALING PULSE from the Gardevoir wasn't unwelcome. Quite the opposite, in fact, though she'd never say so.[break][break]

"That is less than ideal," Elisabeth grumbled to herself after the explanation, "but I suppose it could be worse."[break][break]

The underboss eyed the tablets with open hostility before a resigned sigh preceded her swallowing of them, gulping down the water with palpable disdain. Ugh. How foul. Wiping the back of her hand across her mouth, she let out a bitter laugh.[break][break]

"So now I sit here for hours, I suppose?" So much precious time lost, and for what? "Unbelievable. To think I've been delayed by some thick-headed idiot and his Gyarados." She reached in her bag for her communications device, pulling out a digital tablet and wincing as she pulled on her shoulder a smidge too much. "Maybe I'm losing my edge."[break][break]

Mindlessly, she scrolled through a database of known Rangers while she waited, pettily seeking the face of jack wainwright among them.

Xiura had been reassigned to the healing tent after a few failed missions, her own Pokemon resting and recovering from their battles. It still stung a little, to know that there were many trainers much more powerful than her. Such setbacks were to be expected, though; the League had some powerful people on their side, like Melody Miro and Genevieve Cromwell.

To be expected as well were all manner of patient personalities, from the calm, appreciative ones to the more disgruntled, frustrated Rockets, such as the one before her now. The war over the island was a difficult and tenuous situation, both sides making their relative gains, but some members of Rocket feeling like they were losing any progress they made the very next day.

Hatterene hummed contentedly in Xiura's direction, calming her flustered emotions; at least for now, their encampment was safe and undiscovered.
[break][break]
Xiura took a moment to consider the question, then smiled. "I'm sure you'll get him back soon enough, especially after you're rested and feeling good as new." A thick-headed idiot and his Gyarados. She wondered who the person might be, who riled up the Rocket underboss so.
[break][break]
She noticed Elisabeth scrolling through her device, and politely looked away. Snooping wasn't part of her nature, and she had even learned how to tune things out automatically to prevent eavesdropping. Sometimes ignorance was the best way to protect herself.

Gardevoir stepped back, finishing her first Healing Pulse treatment. Xiura looked at Elisabeth's arm, carefully averting her eyes from the lit-up screen. However, she noticed a couple of unfamiliar faces flitting across the screen before she consciously looked away to a pile of rage candy bars sitting on the counter. "Gardevoir has finished the first phase. To optimize the treatment, we will allow your body's sped-up regeneration to take place on its own for thirty minutes before the next Healing Pulse, which will renew the regeneration speed of your arm." This is what she had been taught by the senior healers in the tent, and she reiterated it now. Already, Elisabeth's arm was looking better, the terrible, bloody gash on her arm slowly stitching itself together. Xiura prepared some water and some sterile gauze on a metal tray for cleansing away the drying blood, saying, "How is your pain level now on a scale from zero to ten, with ten being the worst pain you've felt in your life? The pain medication should help more in about half an hour or so, if it hasn't started working already."

"Ugh. I don't know. A four, maybe?" How to contextualize this? Hm. Stubbing her toe, she decided, was a one. Being set on fire by her late husband was a solid ten. "Let's say three. It's unpleasant, but bearable."[break][break]

Petty as it was, she also didn't want to give her enemy the satisfaction of hurting her beyond a five. He was beneath her, she decided.[break][break]

Oddly, there was something hypnotic about these medical explanations. Elisabeth admittedly wasn't remembering much of what was being said -- the cleansing of the blood, indeed, made her wince enough to distract from the finer points -- but having the distinct background noise of talking helped center herself.[break][break]

As did the mission of stalking the various dark-haired Rangers for the one that had given her this unwanted change in her plans.[break][break]

Much like when she used the AMIGO app with BARNABY FINCH's guidance, Elisabeth swiped impatiently past the likes of ollie morales, Josh Devlin, Guillermo Marceliño, and LANCE VOLLANS, finally stopping with a devilish grin as she uncovered the troublemaker of the hour. "jack wainwright!" she crowed, a finger pressing the 'save' button to view the file later. "Yes, I'll be sure to remember you."[break][break]

This notion of potential revenge seemed to bizarrely cheer her.[break][break]

Meanwhile, her Butterfree comfortably settled beside Xiura's Hatterene, a far more pleasant and agreeable companion than its underboss mistress by all accounts as it lazily fanned its wings to and fro.

Xiura nodded at @elisa's response. A three wasn't bad at all, considering. It sounded like the pain medication had already started working. She bound Elisa's arm in a firm but gentle bandage wrap to keep the open wound protected from contamination.

After washing her hands, she placed a nutrient bar, an appple, and a rage candy bar in reach of Elisa. "If you're hungry while you wait, we have some simple rations from Rocket," she said, but was immediately taken aback at the woman's outburst.

"Jack Wainwright?" she repeated inquisitively. More neutrally, she inquired, "Is that who hurt you?" She calmly put down the meal and started discarding the soiled equipment from cleaning Elisa's wound, calming her mind so that her demeanor did not appear shaken.
[break][break]
Hatterene suddenly chimed a warning, and a crash sounded within the encampment, outside the tent. "Oh, they're attacking," Xiura said worriedly, torn between seeing what was happening outside and making sure everyone inside the tent was safe. She looked and noted that some of the healers were tending to patients, and some others along with patients who had finished their treatment were already rushing outside to see the case of the hubbub. Her Clefairy wandered outside, waving her pompoms angrily. "Clefairy, no!" Xiura said, first making sure that Elisa's arm was okay, then rushing outside to find her Pokemon standing before a giant Meganium and its League trainer.

"Yes, that's the pesky man." Any concern she heard in Xiura Balfaltin's voice went unrecognized by Elisabeth as the possible admission of familiarity it was. Far too self-absorbed in her little games of spiteful swiping, she was wholly engrossed by her activity to notice the clamor until her medic was drawn away, courtesy of one ditzy Clefairy.[break][break]

Wonderful. An ambush, while her arm was in a sling. Fantastic.[break][break]

"Let's get this over with," Elisabeth said with an overwrought roll of her eyes, rising up to languidly roll her wrist as she left her wounded Butterfree behind. As she did so, a hideous and hulking snail emerged from the shadows, revealing the Ruinous Beast Wo-chien at her beck and call. "Strip the land," she said firmly, stepping outside the tent. "Leave a BARREN TERRAIN behind."[break][break]

All at once, the campsite's grounds blackened, feeding the Ruinous Beast with the lifeforce of all living things in the space. Meanwhile the MEGANIUM and its trainer appeared to turn sickly and pale, their own health visibly sapped to fulfill that of the Ruinous Beast.[break][break]

Elisabeth raised her good hand, and vines burst up from the ground, her eyes flashing the same ochre color as Wo-chien's for a brief moment. They formed a protective barrier of thorns and briars around her and Xiura Balfaltin, defending against any attacks that might come their way.[break][break]

"Is your Clefairy capable of offense?" Elisabeth asked, prepared for the answer to be 'no.'[break][break]

Still, asking seemed... polite.

“Oh, Clefairy can certainly do offense!” Xiura said, grinning. “Clefairy, use Meteor Mash!”

Clefairy trotted away from the Meganium, shook its pompoms happily, and then rushed back to punch the Meganium with the steely force of a meteor. The Meganium wobbled on its feet, then stumbled to the ground, the combined force of Wo-chien’s terrain change and Clefairy’s attack too much for it to handle.

“It’s not over,” the League agent spit out, before tossing out another Pokeball, a Clodsire this time. The Clodsire growled, then whipped a Toxic attack at Clefairy, who shuddered and fainted beneath the powerful Poison attack.
[break][break]
“Clefairy!” Xiura exclaimed unhappily. She winced, recalling the Pokemon into its ball to rest. She looked up at Elisa, then called her Hatterene to the fore, adding another barrier between the League agent and the healing tent.

Elisabeth blinked slowly as the tiny pink Pokemon proceeded to overthrow the enormous Meganium with the meteoric precision of 'one-punch.'[break][break]

"Impressive," she conceded, looking to her companion with newfound respect. "You and your Pokemon are more than meets the eye."[break][break]

The insipid posturing of the Leaguer barely registered in the underboss's ears. When the Clodsire dared to attack the ally Clefairy, forcing a Hatterene to enter the fray, Elisabeth clicked her tongue in frustration.[break][break]

"I can see you'll need a proper demonstration to rid us of you," she said to the enemy trainer, before she allowed Wo-chien to unleash the full force of its RUINATION against the Clodsire.[break][break]

When this pest was gone, surely another would eventually crawl back to try and ruin their tent, but it would keep the status quo for awhile.
