The sky is the color of a dead television as the boat sails towards the island, its duty relieved as it heads back to base for repairs and rest for all aboard. But the commanding officer can't help but shake a dull sense of danger as she steps out onto the deck and looks out to sea, the ultramodern Elite gripping the rails of the ship tightly and gazing out at some unknown future she can't quite see. Storm clouds rumble overhead, flying all the way back to shore would be a difficult task, but doable if worst came to worst. It would be abandoning every single other person here to death if something truly were to go wrong, but that wasn't something she was overly concerned about. The scolding she'd get would be more annoying than any sense of lingering guilt she felt over some random grunts dying to some half cocked League idiot.

No, what was bothering her was instead the weight on her back as she leans over deck and narrows her eyes. Not the weight of guilt. But the sense that something was coming for Her now. Some past she had discarded was chasing after her trying to exact its revenge, this was the weight of karma trying to break her neck under itself.

So why is it then that her corners of her lips tilt up as she spots something approaching in the distance? Well, she spent every day running away from the past trying to catch up to her. It might be a nice change of pace to execute it instead. "Ready for battle crew! We've got someone looking for a fight in the final round!"

Despite her preference for recon operations Shalin had completed for the war, a combat operation was unavoidable. While she didn't mind fighting if it was against nature, she loathed it when her League duties forced her to aim her AVIAN BOW at a fellow human being.

If there was one thing her superior ollie morales valued her for as a combatant, it was her unique fighting style that confused many Rockets before her task to bring in Xenon Antheil today. Even the most evasive Pokémon would have trouble dodging the very air itself, the girl's Pokémon attacking primarily with shockwaves. Water splashed against the side of Bass Boost's saddle as she SWIFTLY SWAM toward the Rocket's vessel. If they didn't hurry in finishing their battle-readiness, the Seismitoad would latch onto their ship's hull and rock it with EARTHQUAKE-level vibration!

Everyone on board is scrambling to their battle stations as Xenon makes the call, what should have been a safe retreat has quickly morphed into an emergency as the ultramodernist steps up onto the railing of the deck and dives down into the water to search for that funny feeling at the back of her neck. It doesn't take long to find it, or them as the case was.

"Well well, have we met somewhere before?" There's a niggling sensation of recognition pricking at the edges of her consciousness, a stronger feeling than she would get from most she had met in the past and forgotten about in that same day. A Malamar emerges from one of the Pokeballs at her side as she dwells on that sensation for a touch longer, long enough for the Seismitoad to reach the boat and inflict those violent waves of energy upon the boat as it latches on and begins shaking the metal with an Earthquake. A few of the grunts actually manage to steady themselves enough to grab their guns and fire on Shalin even, nowhere near stable enough to actually hit her though. But if they lived through this she might remember them enough to give them a commendation on their performance under duress. Maybe.

"Gonna have to ask you to stop that though, and by ask I mean order. That's my ship you're shaking about girlie, and I don't like it when anyone but me plays rough with my property." She raises her arm above the waves and snaps her fingers, Indium wrapping a tentacle around her waist and setlling her on his back to prepare for the ride to come. And just like that they're off as the squid jets through the water, the girl smiles viciously as she taps out the command for a Psycho Cut on his back, the Malamar immediately lashing out at Bass Boost with tentacles wreathed with razor sharp psychic energy.

Shalin let out a distorted whoop as the high-frequency vibration rocked her, too. It may have been a strange sight for Xenon to see; was she having fun being shaken about so powerfully? Though the automatic weapons and their wielders were very inaccurate thanks to the rocking, rumbling ground beneath them, two shots grazed the amphibian by fortune alone. Unable to maintain the vibration, the frog let go, Shalin's senses returning to her just in time to see a familiar face astride a Malamar jetting across the waves.

"Then how about you turn your vessel around? These are League waters you're in, you know," the water-type's rider retorted. The PSYCHO CUT cleanly sliced at the side of one of the bumps Bass Boost's saddle covered the top of, Shalin shrieking as that corner of her seat madly shook.

While the Malamar was faster, even with Bass Boost SWIFTLY SWIMMING, there were certain kinds of attacks no amount of speed would help in dodging. Bracing herself, every hair on Shalin's body stood on end from the Seismitoad vibrating every bump he had. The seismic shockwave raised tall waves of MUDDY WATER, radiating in all directions outward from their user. Shalin winced at Bass Boost's peak intensity; she had forgotten in the moment that she wasn't wearing her suit! This was gonna really sting by the end of the day...

"Claiming the whole ocean for yourself is a bold move, I can respect that. But claims are only worth something if you have the strength to assert them!" Xenon shouts as Indium cuts at the Seismitoad's saddle, an inch closer and she could've drawn first blood.

The flow of battle is already apparent as her bones shake in her body, waves of Muddy Water crashing into Xenon and Indium and nearly sweeping her out of his grip as he's pushed away. This was a matter of putting the opponent down hard and fast, a battle of attrition wouldn't be in her favor due to the method of attack that Shalin used and just how difficult it would be to avoid with the water acting as a constant conduit for these horrible vibrations. Xenon's left arm curls over her body and clutches at her right, the metal prosthetic still vibrating even as she clenched it tight trying to stop it. It was aggravating her shoulder, not a fatal injury but an annoying one still. "Well if it ain't broke don't fix it I suppose." Xenon mutters to herself as she lightly claps her hand against the Malamar's side thrice, prompting another rushdown as the squid strikes out at the toad with a vengeful Payback infused tentacle.

"Not the entire ocean - are you that dense? Just the waters surrounding this island," Shalin retorted with unusual aggression in her lips. She had grown tired of this pest from their previous meeting near Lilycove. She was also growing tired of her own Pokémon's attack; without her suit on, the vibration was harmful to her, too. It was downright numbing[. She sounded a cry for Bass Boost to stop, but that was prematurely interrupted by the Malamar whipping a vengeant tentacle directly at the amphibian.

The impact launched Shalin from her frog steed and into the water. Losing almost all feeling from absorbing such powerful vibration, she reached for what she thought was her Milotic's Poké Ball, only to be ferried to the water's surface by... a Greninja? Even in the water, riding one of those was unusual. The swift swimmer thrust his webbed feet powerfully backward in a stroke that threatened to catch up to the Malamar in a hurry. Xenon would get a great look at the frog breaching the surface with a powerful kick, soaring skyward and attempting to knock the Malamar and rider silly with a BOUNCE that would hit as hard as if used by a FLYING-TYPE Dodrio.

"It doesn't matter if it's the whole ocean, a patch of the ocean, or even a puddle up to your ankles! If you want to make such a ludicrous claim like "owning some water" then you better be strong enough to back it up!" Such an old fashioned ideal, that you might "own" a patch of land or ocean or whatever just because you say you do. How could one "own" anything truly, what property of this specific bit of ocean proved that the League "owned" it? The only law that Xenon respected was the law of the jungle, the strong dominate the weak and assert their authority over everything underneath.

A law she was more than happy to demonstrate for Shalin as she knocks the girl off her steed and KOs the vibrating toad, a victorious cry escaping her lips for the briefest of moments as she already moves to push the attack. What happens next is almost too fast to process, almost. A Greninja emerges from Shalin's belt, Xenon subconsciously recognizes that the optimal ability for any trained Greninja would be the Protean adaptability they display when using moves. The ninja frog Bounces into the air, it's scales subtly shift colors as its bones hollow out and it adapts and evolves into a flying type. The neurons of her brain fire as she orders Indium to defend himself, the squid can barely manage to bring its tentacles up in front of itself for a guard as a webbed foot slams into its body, pushing the squid back a dozen feet and sending him skidding through the water, almost losing his grip on Xenon in the process. Ouch. "Indium, grab it before it can get away!" She doesn't even have the time to process her words into her usual coded signal as her mount rushes forwards and whips its tentacles out towards the Greninja, trying to Wrap around it and squeeze it down before it could make another power move like that.

Just as Keimi tried to leap away, the Malamar's tentacle wrapped around the amphibian's slimy body. As slick as it was, Indium's grip held fast, Keimi trying to kick the psychic-type with his one free leg. Shalin grunted as she was nearly thrown off her second frog Pokémon from the sudden reversal of momentum.

Unable to escape the Malamar's constricting grip, the Greninja's mouth foamed with HYDRO PUMP. Shalin set the frog's reins at the end of his saddle and braced, ready for the recoil to fling her backward. Becoming a Water-type once more, the point-blank column of pure water would surge toward Xenon's Pokémon any moment.

All she could do was try and squeeze the life out of this stupid frog before she got blasted, every ounce of strength she has in her is forced upon Keimi as tentacles Wrap and squeeze around her. And just as soon as it begins it ends, a torrential downpour of water slams into the squid and forces the two apart once more, instantly knocking out Indium as he's recalled back into his Pokeball and Xenon throws out her next seaworthy Pokemon.

The malicious dragon erupts forth from her slumber with a roar, draconic energy surging forth from her being as she rushes towards the still vulnerable Greninja and Shalin. She does unfortunately leave Xenon behind in the process, but the girl is already swimming up for the surface to get a breath of air, so it's really for the best that the dragon rely on her natural instincts while her partner focuses on the whole "living" part of being a living being.

The recoil of the powerful Water-type technique overcame Shalin's strength, her grip on Keimi's saddle failing and sending her flying backward. It may have been a blessing in disguise, the wake of the Garsphmp's charge lifting the agile swimmer out of his element. Her Pokémon's thrust still hurt, but not as much as being struck by Xenon Antheil 's dragon would have. Even his agility could not afford him protection against the ground-type's ambush tactics. Whether a DRAGON CLAW, DRAGON RUSH, or even a simple SLASH, there was little hope for the blue amphibian to fight back.

After a splash that submerged Shalin, she surfaced aboard a Milotic that put on quite a bit of speed with his flicking, whipping tail. That speed was needed before the seas of Dewford were further stained with cold Greninja blood, the girl withdrawing her Pokémon. Raising his neck out of the water, Levy's mouth glowed with a chilly mist as an ICE BEAM coalesced between his jaws, ready to fire at a moment's notice.

Another water type, another obstacle to overcome, but at least now the boat was done shaking and her useless ass subordinates could get enough of a bead on Shalin and Levy to start shooting again. Bullet seeds pepper the ocean's surface as the Rocket grunts aboard the ship start to fire on the duo, putting more pressure on her to either dive back down or stay on the move while Xenon tried to put herself together enough to finish this fight definitively. She breaks surface and takes in a deep gasp of air as Terbium operates on instinct and attacks the Milotic, utilizing hit and run tactics with Dragon Rush to strike at the serpent from every angle she can.

But a dragon meant to fly the skies can only go so fast when constrained by the deep blue, a piercing azure beam of frost strikes the Garchomp from a bad angle and freezes half of her body solid, Xenon cries out as she recalls the dragon and throws out another Pokeball to continue the fight, this releasing Argon up into the air where he could rain down Thunderbolts from above. "Fuck, shit, fuck!" She curses under her breath as she clips her Pokeball back to her belt and brushes against her remaining option, if her oldest friend couldn't finish this job then it would have to fall to the avatar of the future to finish things in the end...

The Milotic's aim was true, the dragon brought down in a single blow by his ICE BEAM. Things were looking up until a THUNDERBOLT flew outward from a Gengar the Ranger barely had time to recognize. Levy was on it, though! She skillfully bucked Shalin, flinging her onto the serpentine swimmer's tail. Rather than hold on for her life, Shalin let the tail flick her into the air and out of the way of the electric blast that would have singed her nerves. She disappeared beneath the waves, leaving her Milotic alone to do battle with the Ghost-type.

Though the THUNDERBOLT was powerful, the beautiful, sinuous Pokémon remained conscious. That sliver of consciousness was vital, as Xenon Antheil 's Pokémon would find the back half of the electric attack reflected back at it with a well-timed MIRROR COAT.

It was only a matter of time before Shalin would be forced to surface. Little did Xenon Antheil know the ambush tactic she had planned with Rielle, the Shiny Vaporeon that had caught her and prevented her from sinking too deep in the rough Dewford seas. When the time was right, the duo would surface and hopefully catch the Gengar by surprise.

A ruinous bolt of thunder fries the fish from above, only to be reflected back at its wielder through psychic mirrors. The thunderbolt hits Argon hard, it hurts the ghost but it doesn't put him down for the haul as he shakes off the char and starts moving through the air to angle for the next attack, ready for the counter now as he throws another furious thunderbolt at the Milotic to finish the job.

But Xenon could feel that tingle on the back of her neck again, a future approaching that augured a rapidly approaching disaster. She had seen Shalin dive into the ocean to avoid the lightning that struck her Pokemon, but she hadn't resurfaced still. The human body could only stay underwater for so long without oxygen, especially in high stress scenarios such as this where the heart was working in overtime due to adrenaline. She takes a deep breath in and dives under after Shalin, releasing Rhodium into the ocean and searching for the girl as its anti grav thrust set to work. It was slower underwater than it was in the sky, but it could still operate with 67% efficiency, spotlights emanating from its eyes as the two search for the hiding Shalin while the battle rages on overhead.

Forced to the surface for air, Shalin deeply inhaled after Rielle had completely floated to the surface. Her heart thumping after she had hid underwater longer than she should have, her eyes shifted about, looking for signs of Levy. The Milotic had gone belly up, Shalin forced to withdraw her.

That Gengar was the only foe in her way, and it looked like that was the last remaining Pokémon the Rocket had with her. The purple swimmer's mouth foamed with ICE BEAM, creating a rapidly-expanding ice bridge for the water-type to run up before tilting it at the Gengar to land a finishing blow. Little did she know that her own ice could wind up being a double-edged sword, blocking most of the SPOTLIGHT and keeping her from detecting the vicious foe beneath her...
