“Fuuu-” A long exhalation accompanies air leaving his lungs. Shuddered breaths try to pull air back in, build up the oxygen reserves, restore order to his body. Rolling across the sand, he rights himself with his left hand. It sends daggers up the arm, reminding him that it remains a ruin. It will always be a ruin, no matter what Hoenn’s best medical minds do.[break][break]
But he stands. For all Kaz’s strength, Navy feels no cruelty or malice in the pain he inflicts. There is no sadistic drive to hurt that he can detect in the bigger man’s blows. Were he not blessed with an angel’s kiss, the way Kaz fights him would be heroic.[break][break]
Once more, the sheriff curses Eternatus. He divides them by simply existing, and by the whispers of His heralds. Navy refuses to let Eternatus win, to let him have Kaz. The poison will run its course, or else he’ll beat it out of the man. He’s endured pain from far crueler creatures than Kazimir Wynter.[break][break]
“Come on.” He beckons, standing up and wiping blood from the corner of his lips. “Come on!” Three wide steps forward, his fists raised, he meets Kaz’s next blow with his own. He’ll burn himself out before he allows Eternatus to win.

He watches the warrior angel stand after rolling in the dirt the wings he calls fists rising once more to come at a destroyer. What will be destroyed here is uncertain, the hold on a folk hero an angel has or the body of a man who fights even against another world. Perhaps both will perish under this blue sea.

As the man calls for him to meet him a tongue licks away at a bit of blood that leaks from the mouth. A smirk reveals teeth stained with red as he readies for him. As two fists soar towards each other skin grinds against skin as they fly right past each other. The wrong angle aimed for? Maybe an uneven floor to catch him off balance perhaps? Maybe its the man deep under the poison letting out one last piece of resistance from under the spell.

Whatever the cause is one man's saving grace as Kaz's fist brushes against Navy's cheek while the Sheriff's fist finds itself slamming against his solar plexus. A beat, then a cough as flecks of red with a hint of purple stain the warrior angel's arm as Kaz falls to his side like a sack of bricks as the last bit of consciousness he has is taken by a lack of air and a burning poison in his blood.

“Kaz…” His fellow warrior falls. The sheriff’s smile fades as the bigger man slumps. Rushing down to catch him, he cradles the body of the fallen.[break][break]
“Kaz?” A few shakes, a check of the pulse. Kaz is breathing, his heart is beating. There’s still light in him. So long as there is life, there is hope.[break][break]
“Kaz!” An echoed shout, his eyes racing around, to make sense of the battle around them. Thin Lizzy stands, her son has fainted. Arthur’s consciousness fades. Navy’s Cyclizar races towards them, pokeballs in tow. Behind her is a rampaging dinosaur and an angel.[break][break]
His body aches when he picks Kaz up, a process only made possible by the sygna suit. It enhances him just enough to enable the feat. Running with his unconscious friend, he jumps on Lizzy’s back. She kicks it into high gear, shifting up and speeding off through the darkness.[break][break]
It’s a race against time, a race to the surface. When you’re at the bottom, there’s only one way to go: up. It wounds his pride to leave the Nihilego alive, but Kazimir’s life is more important than his pride. Pride can heal. If Kaz slips here, he’ll never be able to live with himself.[break][break]
Navy collapses when he stumbles into Dewford General. It serves as a testament to how many times he ventures into this sea that no one is all that surprised. He is helped. A last breath of life tells them to see to Kaz first. Darkness takes him, but he wakes up again later.[break][break]
Somehow, despite everything, the light won out in the end.
