He needed these breaks away from responsibility, away from others. It was among the verdant growth that he could center himself, let the worries that plagued his mind fall away just as easily as the orange and red leaves descended to the forest floor. Rowan let out a soft sigh, watching as the Pokémon sauntered away. It would have been nice to not look over his shoulder everywhere he went, but paranoia is what kept him alive this last year, the refusal to take unnecessary risks.[break][break]

The gentle rolling of a river ushered him forward, moving towards the water. This was a good enough spot to take a short rest, hopefully.

He almost didn't notice the vibrations on the air, the fast beating of wings as a Riombee circled around him curiously. "Hey there." He smiled, singular eye tracking their sprightly movement. A hand reached out to touch the gentle Pokémon, finding his fingers sailed wide. It had been difficult to get used to this new perception of depth, and Rowan was beginning to believe he might never fully grasp it. In that fumbling moment, the Riombee zipped away.

[attr="class","rowwtw"]A sigh escaped Rowan's lips, pushing himself off the rocks and moving closer towards the rolling waters. On the surface, he could see his reflection, marred from his fateful encounter on Mt. Pyre. He'd been mutilated, a shadow of his former self.[break][break]

In the water, a flower moved beneath the surface. "Huh." Upon closer inspection, he recognized the form of a docile Pokémon, silently drifting beneath the stream. He'd take them by surprise, catch the Pokémon off-guard to succeed in the capture. A hand moved to an inert Pokéball, throwing it with full force into the water.
