"Well, this certainly complicates things."

Today was supposed to be a pretty standard examination of one of Sootopolis's new Power Spots, this one being located not too far from the gym. Oscar had arrived with his partner for the day, the lovably aberrant Tempest Quinn. Temp was one of Oscar's favorite lab partners, so when he agreed to help examine a Power Spot Oscar could not have been more excited. It would have been a very enjoyable afternoon--if not for this sudden obstacle.

Oscar looked down at the Power Spot, his hands fidgeting from within his pockets as his eyes tried to comprehend what he was looking at. There were crystals surrounding the Power--hole--? You know what I mean. The normally vibrant red light seemed slightly dimmer, as if the Dyna Energy resting within was weaker. The crystals looked very similar to the same ones that normally produced Tera Energy, but Oscar had no idea why they would be growing around a Power Spot.

Oscar rubbed his chin, unsure what to make of this. He eventually looked to Temp to see if he had any insight, performing an exaggerated shrug to indicate how lost he was.

Tempest had been downright thrilled when it turned out oscar clayton wasn't dead in an Alolan ditch.[break][break]

After he had stopped getting texts back from the other man, Tempest had feared the worst. It turns out that Oscar had just been on some crazy bender before returning back to Hoenn. (Or so Temp would assume, because Oscar would never just stop messaging him. Never. : ) )[break][break]

Even more exciting was getting to do more, proper, science type things with Oscar! And Temp was a science guy (kinda) now, too![break][break]

Then this shit just had to get in the way.[break][break]

Frowning, Temp poked at one of the crystals with the end of his ink-pen. Yup, still hard as fuck.[break][break]

"Maybe we can dig under it." Poke poke.

Oscar squatted to get a better look at the rubbing his chin as he tried to think of what to do. Temp had the pretty good idea of trying to dig them out, and after a moment's consideration Oscar would slowly nod. "Yeah fuck it. Prime?" Oscar stood up and faced his Genesect, who had been there the whole time just staring at nothing because even cyborgs space out from time to time. Hearing its name caused it to snap to attention though.

Oscar pointed his thumb toward the crystals. "See if you can do anything about these." Prime gave Oscar a salute before revving up its claws and smashing them into the crystals with a ferocious velocity (Fell Stinger). It would slam its claws into the crystals over and over again, growing faster and faster as its power grew. Eventually though its arms would begin to smoke, forcing it to stop to avoid damaging its inner machinery.

As the dust cleared, Oscar was dumbfounded to find the crystals unharmed. He calmly folded his arms, attempting to seem alright when he was clearly seething. He took a deep breath, unfolding his arms to clap his hands together. "Well fuck." Oscar turned toward Temp, "This actually boggles my mind. Where did these tera crystals come from? Did the Power Spot make them? Are they DYNA CRYSTALS!? I hope not, that would be stupid and I have had it up to my tits with stupid today."

"I think they're from the alien spaceship that we crash by Fortree." Tempest said this as if it was the most normal thing in the world, casually scratching his temple with the side of a pen.[break][break]

A hand was clapped on oscar clayton's back; this was followed by Tempest pulling the other under his arm. Friendly and kind.[break][break]

"Two could be better than one?"[break][break]

A Dive Ball was taken from Tempest's pocket, SWITCH called out. The Genesect peered up at PRIME; cybernetic connection as it scanned the other. The last Genesect it had come face to face with had attacked her and almost bent her chassis.

Oscar blinked rapidly as Tempest brought up an incident near Fortree. "I--what? Spaceship?" Tempest meanwhile sent out his own Genesect to help with the effort of removing the crystals, but Oscar was not willing to allow his previous statement to slide so easily. "Wait wait, elaborate on the spaceship, please."

While the two humans discussed what had transpired, Prime stared at the other Genesect curiously. It had never encountered another of its kind before, and the casual appearance of this other Genesect was--shocking to say the least. As far as it knew, it had been alone all this time. Prime very slowly raised one of its claws, and began slowly waving it back and forth. Had this Genesect been taught the intricacies of social interaction?

"Uh..." Maybe Tempest was just too indoctrinated into Hoenn's weirdness to even realize that oscar clayton might not know about the spaceship. There was another quick chew of his pen as he mulled over how to tell the story... without taking all night.[break][break]

"I went into the swamp by Fortree to look for some missing people with a friend. It turns out it was a sect of Megalopilans kidnapping people and not the weird bear everyone thought it was. So we all had to go underground and we found a spaceship. But when we tried to launch it, it just broke apart and scattered this shit all over the region."[break][break]

Tempest wrinkled his nose; he hoped that was okay for now.[break][break]

SWITCH scanned Prime as it moved, curiously waving a claw back and forth. Was this some type of new attack? Not wanting the other Genesect to get the upper hand, SWITCH raised her own claw to mimic the movement. Hers were more clunky, less smooth, as she 'waved' back at the other of her species.

Oscar's eyebrows slowly raised as Temp weaved his tale. "How peculiar." He said at the briefing's end. "I thought we were fuckin' through with hostile Megalopolans. Ungrateful little shits." To think he missed such a wacky misadventure, ugh the tragedy of his sickness grew more and more with every revelation.

Still, he was here now and that was what mattered. Oscar rubbed his chin as he turned his attention back to the crystals. "I wonder why these crystals are so much more durable than normal Tera crystals. Perhaps their interactions with the ship caused them to mutate?"

While the humans talked, the Genesect were having their own exchange nearby. Prime's companion copied its greeting, though Prime could not tell if it was just mimicking it or if it truly understood what the gesture meant. Perhaps a more cybernetic form of communication would be better suited. Prime let out a series of timed beeps that its compatriot would be able to recognize as binary. Using this universal computer language Prime would 'say' the following:

"GREETINGS, WE ARE RELATED. I AM AN ALLY. ARE YOU AN ALLY?"
