Awoken and terrified, Yuina had never been expecting someone to show up in her room in the middle of the night from nowhere. She had half a mind to call on the handful of Pokeballs that she had with her, certainly this was exactly what Navy had mentioned, that one day a rocket would find her because of her opposition of them… But that never came.[break]
Instead this was something else entirely, almost something out of Yuina’s deepest desires… A chance to change the course of history? To learn something new… It couldn’t be true, it couldn’t be that easy, but below the strange, small floating creature that this figure had, a portal opened up just like that… Where would it go? What did this truly mean? Was… Was this really going to be as simple as she never thought it would be…? She was never going to get answers if she never took a leap of faith to figure things out… And it seemed like that leap of faith began with stepping through this portal, consequences be damned.

Stepping through the fabric of the portal, Yuina blinked in that moment, she couldn’t help but feel like the portal encompassing her, the energy that spawned it felt familiar… But in that split second that she pondered the portal’s makeup, she blinked again and nearly screamed at her new surroundings.[break][break]
There she was, in the midst of the raging battle, beneath the swamps of Route 119 and in the caverns that the Megalopolans had sought shelter in while they awaited the distortion they pined over. Yuina was panicked, looking around, this was weeks ago, this had already happened, and for a moment she could swear that she was dreaming… She had to be. It was all happening exactly like she remembered, the distortion was starting to form, the Megalopolans were pursuing them down from the top of the cavern with their monsters, the ship was just down the way…[break]
”This is impossible, this isn’t happening,” Yuina breathed, shaken to her core, this was too real. She tried to close her eyes, tried to will herself awake, obviously this was all a dream, there was never a figure in her room and she didn’t step through a portal… A chance to change her history… Being in this place again would do nothing for her…[break][break]
The sounds of battle never faltered around her, the roaring energy of the distortion continued to flood her senses… Wake up, wake up...[break]
In the pandemonium, there was the explosion of an attack volleying around, and it knocked Yuina clean over, pushing her to the ground. She screamed, unable to catch herself, she fell hard on the ground and was brought back to this place… This was real… She was actually here… And she was going to die if she didn’t do something.[break][break]
From her belt, Yuina knew that she had her Pokemon with her, and she released Daikenki and Kyoko into the fray to fight back against the Megalopolans that were advancing on them. The distortion still surged around the cavern, the battle of everyone that had gone down into the caverns that night waging on, but this time, whatever this was, she wasn’t going to stand by and do nothing.[break][break]
”Daikenki, defend Doug,” Yuina shouted, calling for the water type to keep close to the Ursaluna that she had come to know, the bear was getting mauled by Megalopolans and the Samurott rushed forward, slashing through the hoard to get close to Doug so that he could be spared the many bloodied punctures and poisonous assaults that he had.[break]
”Kyoko, Inferno,” Yuina called, standing back, and while many of the Megalopolans had yet to advance into the fray of the distortion, as Kyoko unleashed a fury of flames out to stand against their assault, that only seemed to enrage more of them, pushing more of them into a frenzy to get in on the fight.[break][break]
At this point in time, because Daikenki was fighting alongside and defending Doug, trying to push the bear towards the ship, the moment in which Doug lunged to attack the leader of the Megalopolans was missed. And the butterfly effect began…

Shattering the very fabrics of time and space within the cavern, the distortion shook and trembled beneath the swamps of route 119, and as the Hoennians continued their fight to try and flee from the Megalopolan onslaught, the blue faced leader was emboldened by the power of the distortion. They didn’t come this far for nothing.[break]
”Do not let them escape! We are meant to return home by this power,” the leader called out, urging his fellow Megalopolans forward. The forces rushed into the frame of the distortion then, their poison type beasts following suit, but as the Hoennians rushed towards the ship and the Megalopolans rushed into the distortion, the unstable power balance of the distortion and the clash taking place within it shuttered. Yuina remained within the confines of the distortion, she was going to fight this time, she had to, the Megalopolans were gaining on them all and she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing like she did last time… Daikenki slashed and Kyoko seared anything she could with her flames, but what Yuina hadn’t considered was that this distortion would give way…[break][break]

Everything was so fuzzy… So hazy as Yuina stirred… She couldn’t… What happened? She shifted, eyes closed in a daze, but found her muscles stiff and nearly numb because she was… Cold? No… Freezing, she was shivering. A cough, and a deep breath, but another cough as she sucked in nothing but freezing air, it stung in her lungs and caused her to shiver again. And then something breathed beside her, rustling her hair, she could feel warm breath clouding over her face…[break][break]
Yuina blinked furiously, trying to rid her eyes of a heavy glaze, trying to come out of whatever stupor… She was shifting, until she laid out on her back, drawing in another stinging cold breath and felt nothing but freezing cold beneath her… Focusing her eyes, pushing through the haze, Yuina was finally coming to, finding Daikenki and Kyoko both looking down at her from either side of her frame, they were laid on the ground beside her… Trying to keep her warm…[break][break]
They were in a cave, but not the cave she remembered, the caves beneath the swampy marshes of Route 119… It was completely coated in thick, glittering ice… And there was nothing else… No ship, no megalopolans, none of her friends or allies… It was quiet… Almost silent save for the stray sound of howling winds whistling through the tunnels… Confusion… Panic… And definitely freezing, Yuina sat up to the best of her ability. She felt fuzzy all over, like her entire body was nothing but static, like her insides were shifting as she moved to cling closer to Kyoko. The fire type was laid out on the ground, having tried to encompass as much of Yuina’s figure as she could to keep her trainer warm while she was unconscious, but wherever she was… Yuina knew she couldn’t stay there….[break][break]
Bracing against the cold, finding the mouth of the cave they were in not too far off, Yuina moved with Daikenki and Kyoko on either side of her. At the edge of the cave, her shoes met snow instead of ice as the blinding white surface shone bright against the sun high in the sky above them. It took her eyes some time to adjust as she coughed a clouded breath around her face, and for a moment she could swear that this place looked… Familiar…?[break]
Sprawling snow top mountains, glittering white hills, icy slopes and a frozen river in the far distance… Yuina stumbled against the snow, her shoes slipping as she held on to Daikenki’s sturdy figure… She couldn’t believe it…[break][break]
”The Alabaster Icelands…”

In this sick, twisted fate where Yuina was thrust back into the past, not once but twice it seemed through this ordeal, it was a struggle to fully realize what she was about to undertake. Not only was she in the wilds of Hisui again, a place that she had longed for ever since understanding that’s where she had been in a past life, but… She couldn’t stay there… Not now, not after everything that she had built…[break][break]
Things were far more dire than she could have fathomed though as she sat astride Kano’s shoulders, the Arcanine working along the deep snow banks and heavily frosted hills, she remembered enough of how she got back to this place to know that… She hadn’t come here alone… Whether they didn’t know she had been thrust through the distortion with her, or may have thought she was dead, it was a wonder that the Megalopolans did not harm her as they all descended upon the icelands, but as Yuina jogged her memory, trying to remember her time here the best that she could, she wasn’t prepared for what was getting ready to transpire…[break][break]
Moving to the most northern mountains, she recalled a settlement that was there, The Pearl Clan as they were referred, but… Upon reaching the other side of the river, crossing through the frozen trees, the entire settlement had already been ravaged, destroyed… There was no one left… There were no bodies, but that didn’t mean that Yuina couldn’t assume the worst, knowing what the Megalopolans were capable of, and the same went for the encampment that she was familiar with at the southern cliffs… Destroyed…[break][break]
With little time to spare, Yuina understood that the Megalopolans intended to wreak havoc here, if they could survive the harsh environment… It was a hope, but not one that she could hold onto. The Pokemon were feral, wild here, they held power that went unmatched, but if the Megalopolans were as smart as they were resilient… It was only a matter of time before they found the village… They were already aware that humans lived here in this time space, that there were settlements, if they had any notion that there was an entire village with resources and… Sustenance… [break][break]
It would be a days long journey, but Yuina prepared herself to trek through the wilds of Hisui, knowing that she had to get to Jubilife village before the Megalopolans figured out where the settlement was…

Traveling across the vast mountains, down through the canyons, crossing the undisturbed rivers, and moving along the bountiful fields, being back in this place, one that seemed like such a distant memory… Not even a memory more like a dream… It was so surreal… It was hard to hold on to the fact that Yuina was put here for… One reason or another, that person that had found her in the middle of the night, bidding her through a portal to change a part of history…[break][break]
This would have happened if they hadn’t held the megalopolans back and fled on the ship beneath the swamps she had to imagine, was this another set of consequences for their actions that night? Instead of the Megalopolans melding into the background of Hoenn and planning their next strike, they could have been sent here… And no one would have been here to warn the village… Was that the intention? Was that why she was sent there in the swamps again, to be here at this point in another timeline…?[break][break]
Through the days of traveling from the farthest northern portion of the lands, Yuina found herself falling back into her memories of survival, foraging, finding shelter, avoiding territories of dangerous Pokemon… It was all coming back to her, the life that she lived in this far away place… And it was what allowed her and her Pokemon to make the journey in one piece.[break][break]
Early one morning, the sun cresting the horizon and starting to bask the quiet village in the first morning warmth, Yuina finally saw the gates in the near distance as she followed the path sat atop Kano’s broad shoulders. The journey was long, but worth it, as thus far everything still seemed to be as it should… She had feared the worst, that coming here she would have been too late, that the Megalopolans would have found the human settlement and already destroyed everything…[break]
The consequences of the village falling to ruin was devastating to think about, the entire Sinnoh Region could be upheaved if the first settlement fell and no one ever returned to colonize the land… Would the Megalopolans live then and garner more of their kind, taking over an entire land mass? The mere thought of it made her presence here that much more urgent…[break][break]
But as she found herself nearing the village, the familiar wooden rooftops, the sounds of the people starting to commune for the day… She felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes… It was like she was coming home…

Keeping a distance for a moment, nothing could have prepared Yuina for the swell of emotions that she felt and laying her eyes on the village once more… All this time, it had seemed like such a distant memory, a dream even, like she had never been there at all… But seeing the sun shine through the early morning, hitting the roof tops and the soft breezes brushing through the windchimes that she remembered so dearly… It was really true, that she had been here in this place… She remembered everything…[break][break]
She wished though, that that was the only emotion that she felt… The joy of being back in the only place that she knew as home in her life… But as Yuina sniffled, fighting back some tears, she felt anger, and fury, knowing that she couldn’t enjoy her time here… It was like a cruel joke, a terrible fate, that she was put here only to bring warning and the notion that they needed to prepare to fight…. And she couldn’t stay here… Even though she truly felt like she wanted to…[break][break]
Dismounting Kano, and approaching the village directly from the path that lead up to the gates, Yuina glanced at the watchtowers, the guards that stood watch to protect their small settlement, the guard that stood his post at the entrance on the ground. They looked on with leers, Pokemon approaching the village was never a welcome sight, but Yuina needed a quick out, just in case they didn’t remember her… She couldn’t know how long she’d been gone for at this point, she could have vanished from here yesterday for all she knew, or it could have been years since then…[break][break]
She approached, carefully, crunching along the dirt path until she could make out the faces of those she was nearing… And his name came to her, as if she’d seen him only the other day…[break]
”Sakuma…,” Yuina spoke then, nearing him, and she could see the confusion at hearing his name come from whom may be a complete stranger… She was wearing regular clothes, she wasn’t donning the survey corps uniform that she once wore… Though she supposed she likely looked like this upon arriving to the village the first time…[break][break]
”Higashi? Is that you,” he spoke then, still weary, Yuina couldn’t blame him… But her heart swelled… No one… No one had remembered her before… In Hoenn, no one called out to her to see if she was someone they once knew… But she couldn’t be emotional, not now… The village was in danger, and she didn’t know how much time they had…

’Do not let anyone into the village… even if they look familiar, they have to be able to tell you when the village was settled…’[break]
There was no reasonable way that Yuina could explain the danger that the village was in, the devastation that was upon them all now that an alien race of cannibals that could take on the appearance of anyone they chose that could very well infiltrate the gates at any time was in Hisui… And she almost felt guilty… Did she do this? Did she bring them here? Stepping through that portal and coming to this timeline, was she the turning point that shifted the events of the swamp…? This was her fault, she needed to do everything that she could to turn the tides of losing the entire Sinnoh region…[break][break]
Walking through the village, stepping through the gates, Yuina was overcome with the emotion of seeing it all again… Where she slept, where she sat and had meals, the villagers… Remembered her… But she didn’t have time. Her eyes stung with tears, happy tears, as she was approached like it was a homecoming, they never thought that they would see her again, one that they gave their heritage to… She had friends, people who cared about her here, people who had worried something terrible had happened to her… How long was she gone? How did she get back to her time again after ending up here?[break][break]
The tears, while happy at the overwhelming joy of being back in the only memories she had, and she wanted to be in this time, in this moment… She couldn’t… She didn’t know how long it would take for the megalopolans to get here… It pained her to move through the village without being able to say hello to everyone that regarded her, the commander of the Galaxy Team had to know what was going on so that they could get a plan settled… So long as they believed her… [break][break]
Finally making it to the Galaxy Building, stepping into its halls just like she remembered, Yuina was escorted to the commander’s office… She had a very compelling argument that she needed to see him, just being here was cause enough that something was the matter, and as she stepped through the doors to face the familiar face of the Commander that she knew in her memories, they too were just as shocked…[break][break]
”Yuina Higashi? You’re… Not supposed to be here? You’ve been gone for months, we thought…,”

As much as Yuina wanted to know everything about how long she had been gone and what happened that she had arrived to Hisui in the first place and everything in between, there wasn’t time, especially as she had arrived at the Commander’s office and the Pearl Clan Warden from the Alabaster Icelands was there with the Diamond Clan Warden, one of the only Pearl Clan members that had escaped to warn anyone else that they could…[break][break]
They had witnessed the attack on the settlement, vicious strange creatures and blue humans that ravaged anything in their path, most of the clan had managed to escape, they fled the scene and were hidden. The Warden’s Noble Avalugg proved ferocious in the moment to try and defeat the forces that laid waste to the icelands, but the Megalopolans had fled, and were now lose somewhere in Hisui. Word started to spread, the two wardens made the journey from the icelands to Jubilife Village, and knowing that Pearl Clan had been threatened, it was up to the Diamond Clan and the Survey corps to defend the lands… And now Yuina could help…[break][break]
There was no doubt that the Megalopolans were tenacious, ferocious, they were going to survive the land no matter how harsh the environments were, especially with the Naganadel and Poipole that they commanded… They might be lucky enough that the wilds of Hisui might claim a handful of them, but Yuina knew that it would only be a matter of time before they found and made it to Jubilife village. Even if one Megalopolan still stood, it would be like letting a parasite into the village that would slowly consume the organism from the inside out, they couldn’t let that happen.[break][break]
Inducted back into the Survey Corps, donning a new uniform, Yuina was ready to defend Hisui and defend Jubilife Village with everything that she could. They would need all of the combined forces that they could muster, and weren’t sure how long they would have to prepare, but the wardens set out to gather their fellow clan wardens and Yuina too and some of the other survey corps members set out to gather the rest across the wilds of the region. Having all of the wardens and their noble Pokemon here to bolster and defend the village… That was their only hope…[break][break]
No one else had teams of Pokemon that they could stand up and fight with, this wasn’t like calling all of the Hoenn League representatives with their instincts, their experience, and their trained combat Pokemon… The Noble Pokemon would have to take the stand to defend their land and their environment… And Yuina hoped that the other wardens would feel the same…

Spending the time preparing the village, gathering resources, trying to relocate Pokemon to different areas away from the village, traveling to the farthest reaches to warn and connect with the other wardens… Yuina was truly at home again, in her element… Her home… She loved Hisui and its people with all of her heart, and she felt so much care from them all in being a part of the community again… This was her life all over again, and it was so easy to fall back into, she nearly forgot that she wasn’t supposed to be here in the first place… That this was only temporary. Maybe it didn’t have to be…[break][break]
As more and more wardens made their way to Jubilife village with their Pokemon in tow, they too only had horrible stories of witnessing the Megalopolans that were slowly trekking through the wilds in search of the human settlement that they knew was here. Some had tried to fight them, some could only defend against them to get away, but no single warden was enough to take care of the whole invasion, it was impossible… Any of the survey corps camps that were still standing had returned, no one was sanctioned to leave the village, nothing was safe as they could only assume the Megalopolan forces were closing in…[break][break]
Soon, after endless days and sleepless nights of preparations, all of the Wardens and their Pokemon had made it to the village, camps were set up for the Diamond Clan that had left behind their settlement in the mirelands for safety, and the Pearl Clan was hidden far away into the depths of the icelands, in hopes that they would be able to survive until this was all over… If this would all be over… With the combined forces of the Noble Pokemon, and Yuina’s own Pokemon, she hoped that it would be enough… But that didn’t stop her for hoping, praying, for more strength..[break][break]
She wasn’t sure what force in the universe, or universes, had put her here in the first place, but… Yuina couldn’t help sometimes but feel like it was for a reason… If at some point, her life before wasn’t her destiny, and she had to be erased from her life before to become this person now… The resentment of the idea was still there, she didn’t know for what reasons or purpose that was supposed to serve… But maybe, just maybe, desiree was right all along, that she was always meant to be this person… And so to that same force in the universe, Yuina thought quietly one night, sitting up in her watch post…[break][break]
I feel the spirit of Hisui, the life that thrives in all things here… The Alphas, the Nobles, its people… All things here are connected, and they should want to protect their one shared spirit… Please, let the Pokemon understand that these invaders cannot belong here… They need to defend their home…

In a quiet dawn, where Yuina had taken her lookout post and sent Harrow out to scout from the air, she saw the Braviary rushing back towards the village through the air… It was time… The megalopolans had finally caught traces of where the human settlement was located, and Harrow’s haste meant that they were closing in.[break][break]
Yuina began the alert, the entire village had to mobilize, everything that they had planned and prepared for had lead up to this moment. All of the villagers were sent into the galaxy building, the doors would be locked and the perimeter guarded, in hopes that they could keep their people safe. The wardens and their Noble Pokemon each had a post at the perimeter of the village walls, to ensure that no Megalopolan forces could encroach upon them at any unattended angle, and the other village warriors were suited in their armors, and bearing their weapons…[break][break]
Yuina released all of the Pokemon that she had with her, Kyoko, Daikenki, Delton and her others, and took to Harrow’s back to rise into the air. She needed to get an idea of what kind of forces they were looking at, how many Megalopolans had survived the harsh environments of Hisui, and how many of their monsters they still had with them…[break][break]
As Yuina rose into the air, Harrow’s feathers prickled, his psychic energy surging. Where they could see the encroaching form of a mass of figures moving towards the village from the east, the bird’s attention was from the north, heading towards the village… Pokemon, a lot of Pokemon, were rushing towards the village, and through the tree line one of the first Pokemon that Yuina caught sight of was an enormous Rapidash, with piercing red eyes, the Alpha Pokemon that had territory in the fieldlands… Other Rapidash and Ponyta from its herd rushed through the trees, meeting its stance, then a Luxray roared out, with other felines of its kind coming through… The Pokemon of Hisui, this wild, free spirit… They were here, they knew something was wrong and that they needed to defend their home… For all of Sinnoh’s future…
