"I- I've lost so much of it. It's a dream and dreams fade. But this-" he glanced down to look at the chain before his eyes snapped back to Luci, panicked. "No!" he blurted out before trying to clarify. "N-Not exactly. Not entirely." he's not being specific at all. [break][break]

Paxton swallowed trying to keep from squirming under Luci's stare. "Nobody else in that world was...real. Save for those that went in, my mission partners. But there were people living there." he began. "Some of the people in that dream...looked...like...people from our real lives." It was so insane to have to explain this. He wished he'd forgotten it all. [break][break]

"One of those people that didn't exist looked like you. I-...I courted this 'you'." He couldn't help himself. As hard as he'd tried not to develop feelings for these dream citizens, he had for one. But only because that one had looked just like him. Even now, he can't look Luci in the eye. "I pursued them. I married them. I...I did that for a while...but then at the end I couldn't stay with him. It...It wasn't real. He wasn't real. I was lucid." The more he'd gotten to know his dream husband, the more he was reminded this was just a made up memory. An idealized version of the man he'd fallen for. Incomplete in every way because Paxton had no idea of knowing who Luci truly was. "But I still came out of it with this ring."

luci is spiralling. pushed to the edge of a cliff by the only man who has ever come close to taking his heart, he is all but ready to explode at this dawning realization that he had been cheated on, even in theory. but it is finally the words of paxton concordas's sudden exclamation of denial that draw him back.

[break][break] there is a bit of traitorous hope in his voice, like a trembling leaf.

[break][break] it is nearly enough to make him forgive, nearly but it is not enough. as paxton's explanation delves further from reality and into the chaos of misunderstanding, the fire in luci's eyes grow cold as stone fire.

Paxton nodded his head as Luci processed. As he speaks, Paxton offered small, curt answers holding nothing back. If Luci needed it, he'd provide it. [break][break]

"I did." [break][break]

"No." [break][break]

"No it's-" [break][break]

He seemed to shrink the more questions Luci asked, suffering under his cold fury. He opened his mouth to protest but closed it quickly after, letting Luci finish. This was a rhetorical question. He stayed put, silent as Luci continued. [break][break]

"I- You're-" It's pathetic how even angry with him, in the speckled light that managed to filter through the firs, he was still breathtaking to look at. Paxton swallowed, helpless to do anything other than obey orders, answer his questions. He shook his head slowly, responding before really speaking. [break][break]

"Y-You're luciano fisk , 3rd child of the Sinnohan Fisk conglomerate." He cuts himself off after that. Anything more would sound like he was groveling.

Luci allows him a moment to speak and so his eyes dip down in shame. "It's not...that there was a duplicate of you. I missed you." Terribly. He'd adjusted to the strange reality, but it could never truly give him what he wanted. Until it tried. And it failed in the end. [break][break]

He's easily oved, abruptly yanked forward and trying not to stumble over himself. His hand braces against the crook of Luci's elbow, and he's forced to look into cold anger. He'd thought once was enough. He'd promised himself he'd never push Luci to that again. Yet here he was, failing exactly that. [break][break]

But even like this, he can't help but fawn over the man before him. Their closeness short circuiting his brain, instantly making forget his own nerves. He holds him just close enough to make him desperate to close the distance. Just one more taste before this finishes blowing up in his face. [break][break]

"No." his voice is strained again. He swallowed thickly before continuing, "I-...it wasn't real. It was something to appease me." it sounded strange but how else could you explain the strange resemblances. "It wasn't you...I ended up getting involved with another researcher mid-hallucination. but-...I- kept my wedding ring." Even now, he was still protective over it. "I cheated. I lied. I didn't care anymore. It wasn't home." Just a dream that put enormous strain on him and everyone ese stuck in there.

This isn't at all how he expected things to go. But luciano fisk was a fickle man. It was a mystery what could set him off, but Paxton was always quick to appease, to apologize. He wanted nothing more than for one ethereal man to be happy with him. To have reason to keep him around, no matter how shallow. He knew he wasn't high on his list of priorities. A man like Luciano was had to catch, even harder to keep. But Paxton would hold on as tightly as he could for as long as he could. [break][break]

Luciano says something and Paxton looks up from his lips into his eyes. He felt himself shake under Luciano's gaze, guilt blooming in his chest, griping at his neck. How dare he. How dare he do this to him? How dare he tell Luci anything like this? But it wouldn't have been better to keep it a secret. No, this was the best outcome. "It wasn't." he murmured shaking his head slightly to emphasize his agreement with the sculptor. [break][break]

Being claimed is not what Paxton thought he would happen. Not again, not after an otherworldly wedding band. But Luci does just that, and Paxton had never been a man that could deny the Fisk. Their lips met with an aggression he hadn't felt since the last argument. It is heated and rough and forceful. But Paxton melts into it, allows himself to be overtaken. He drowns himself in the tsunami that is luciano fisk . Because he had never wanted to be anywhere else. [break][break]

Paxton replies in turn, clinging to the artist. His hook around the taller man's neck and he leans in desperate to taste him, to have him.
