After the strange terastal earthquakes had somewhat settled, and the league was cleared for reentry, talks of the tunnels t hat had cracked open the elite 4 chambers had come up. Paxton had been eager to get in on the studies. Geology, after all, was something he was actually familiar with. He could follow along with the scientists on this subject and had volunteered to get out of his desk for a chance to pull specimens and study the caverns underneath. [break][break]

He just hadn't expected it was with FERNANDO SILPH . His office clothes had been abandoned for a more comfortable fit as he gave a nod to the taller man. "Morning sir." he said as he tightened the ponytail holding back most of his hair. His Porygon floated by his head, chirping at their trainer and then their partner for the ride. "Didn't think you'd be eager to get back into the caverns you were attacked in." he said as he lead the way towards what had been deemed the safest point of entry for them to begin the rope climb down.

“CONCORDAS.”

a small acknowledgement that leaves small talk to a minimum. the residual glow of his SYNC STONE serves as both a beacon and lighting for the spelunking that lies before them. not that they need much with the constant refraction of TERA CRYSTALS.

“we don’t understand just how invasive these tera caves are. the sooner we understand their extent, the easier we can gauge their lasting impact on hoenn’s ecology.”

He nodded along as he clipped in and began the descent. It's deeper than he expected and Hopper TELEPORTs ahead to gauge the distance. “Has Professor Eva Morales or Professor illeana reyes ascertained the link between the crystals and the dream mist?” He asked though he imagined Fernando wouldn't ve spelunking if it were obvious.

Hopper chirps from the depths, as Paxton eyes the glinting of crystal clusters that grow in number as they go lower. Finally, his feet brush the floor, and Paxton releases the tension from his rope. He gives a glance to make sure he's steady before beginning to unclip. As the earth opened up, he cast his head light on them. “We've had several earthquakes since AQUA 4 and it seemed like the crystals just suddenly manifested. However, on my investigation with MATIAS SILPH , it looked like natural formations.” He pointed at the walls where a huge slab of flat tera crystal pushed through what he thought may be basalt. “That looks like a tera inclusion. See how it cuts through different horizontal layers on the way up?”

words are cast aside to the whirling sound of a pulley feeding endless rope. when they land, fernando releases his GLALIE, which spins in place with a PROTECT. it does nothing, here, but ingrained behavior is why he relies on it the most. just having it nearby activates the flowing fabric of his SYGNA SUIT.

“it would not be the first naturally occurring phenomenon that lurked underneath our noses.”

he considers his HEATRAN for a moment but decides against using up their limited space.

“i would not be surprised if the anomaly meteno introduced to our environment is responsible for the shift.”

"Understood." he said automatically as he kept his eyes on the rock face. He felt a shiver run down his back, and he's unsure if its the tunnels, Fernando, or the Glalie that made its appearance. At least he had gloves on. They weren't MITTENS but at least they were something. [break][break]

He finally looks back at the Councilman. "I wonder if them happening simultaneously has led to an amplifying effects of these phenomena on our region?" The different energy types reacting with each other just making everything growth and fester all the more quickly. "I don't think even the crystalbloom plague showed up as quickly as the tera crystals did." Like its getting faster every time. [break][break]

Paxton thinks of Meteno and nodded again as he ssaw the link in his mind's eye. "Like another invasive species." Perhaps chips of the tera crystals had somehow multiplied form jsut being around so much infinity energy, even if it didn't output that same energy type. "Councilwoman PENELOPE LIVY informed me of what happened down here in AQUA 4. The Paradox, Walking Wake, appeared but none of you saw any dreammist?" he asked as he picked up piece of tera crystal to inspect. It's hard to tell if the tera crystals had always been here, or if they really had simply manifested and pushed their way thorugh every opening in the rocket layers bellow.

there’s no way of knowing. they can hypothesize all that they’d like, but they’re missing key pieces of information to make a confident explanation. hoenn is filled with variables. chock full of ingredients that always make their next meal as filling as the last.

“not that we recall. however, the suddenness and obscurity of the setting means our attention was heavily divided. our testimony is shaky at best.”

"I see." The suddenness of it all factored as well. Hopefully, they can trigger the same reaction just not as powerful as before. "Luckily, nothing quite as powerful has been reported in Hoenn from the tera crystal veins popping up." Nor had there been unexpected fog clouds of dream mist like at the STAR SOIREE. [break][break]

They would just have to do more study on them. Maybe something specific triggered it, like a megastone did with mega evolution. The caverns continued deper until it's he heard the faint sound of something staticy. Distinctly electronic. It echoed through the tunnel, but it was hard to pinpoint how close it was. "For now, there's not been many sighting of the Paradoxes causing trouble on the surface either."
