the park family are native to the johto region - more specifically, mahogany town. however, due to family disputes, nabi's parents relocated to petalburg, hoenn. nabi was young and took with her very few memories of johto and her extended family. her parents affirmed that disagreements were made and that they wanted a better life for her, but nabi had always suspected dark secrets were kept from her. there had to have been more to the family-owned shop that created and sold masks for a living.[break][break]

nabi was unhappy when they moved. the excuses her parents gave were never enough to settle her tantrums. in her youth, she was quite the headache and troublemaker. nabi frequented the nearby woods of petalburg as an escape from her suffocating parents, though one day, she crossed paths with a hungry vigoroth. a lone and courageous wurmple came to her rescue, fending its opponent off with a flurry of string shots and poison stings. at least now, she had someone she could call friend.[break][break]

life was mundane for nabi as she developed into her teenage years. so, in an effort to spice things up, she participated in the occasional thievery, and maybe even a fight or two. actions spoke louder than words to her, and this was her way of really living life, not trapped in a cozy, boring job that provided stability. her parents yearned for peace and comfort; nabi was thirsty for spontaneity and thrills. "it's that damn blood," she recalled her father saying once. "she's just like them."[break][break]

maybe her parents had lost hope for her. in the summer of her fifteenth year, nabi was sent back to mahogany town to be raised by her grandparents. the secrets of the park family slowly began to unravel. like so many before her, nabi, too, began to done a mask to hide who she really was. her talent was that of a natural; expectations were set. and yet, still here, nabi felt enclosed. what good was she following orders? it seemed no different than when her parents tried to mold her into the obedient, pure girl they always desired.[break][break]

when nabi was of age, her grandmother gifted her a baby pokemon. it was a sign that she was ready to join the rest of them in their ranks. apparently, there were still secrets being kept from her.[break][break]

nabi fled, afraid of living the rest of her life caged. she returned to the only other place she knew as home - hoenn.
