Andrea’s question caught Elinor by surprise. She thought her statement had been quite clear.

“Oh I just meant I can’t grow complacent when competing against you otherwise you’ll definitely take the lead!” Elinor replied. Perhaps she had misspoken or the Dragon Enthusiast had thought there was some deeper meaning.

While it seemed her Flaming Eagle had scared away weaker Pokemon there were still Pokemon that were up for the challenge. A twister suddenly flew toward the flaming bird, engulfing it for a moment.

The bird was sent hurtling into the air until it regained control of its flight. And by then the Drampa was quick to set upon it in battle. But if it had thought the bird would be weak in a brawl, it would be sorely surprised.

The Talonflame lit ablaze and began to burn the Drampa with its fire. But the Drampa did not relent for a moment, in fact, it did not relent for so long that by the time it fell from the sky it was knocked out.

Luckily Elinor was quick to throw a ball after it, hoping to safe it from hitting the ground.

Soon, Elinor's words rang true, for the blonde ranger managed to reclaim the lead by capturing a wild Drampa, beating the dragon maniac in her own game. "Whoa, nice catch! I see what you meant now!"

So in awe was she of Talonflame's aerial maneuvers, the costumed trainer didn't even bother to check if there were any other critters hiding in the tall grass.

The Drampa had barely been caught before the next victim made itself known. A rustling bush nearby alerted both Elinor and Talonflame to the running Toedscool.

Elinor had to take a moment to consider. It wasn’t usually something she would catch, but maybe just this once. She gestured for the bird and it dove down, talons out, wings glinting with the sparks of fire falling off of it like gentle snow for moments before going out.

Not long after the loud thud of bird hitting its prey and pinning it to the ground alerted to the successful capture of its victim. Luckily for the Toedscool, fungi weren’t on the list of things this predatory bird wanted to eat, and so Elinor did not need to rush over there to throw her Pokéball.

"Alright, Chomper, time to even the score!" Andrea exclaimed, thrusting an arm forward.

Just like Talonflame, her Hydreigon's predatory instincts flared up, eyeing an Impidimp that tried to hide in the tall grass. Snatching up the pink goblin with its jaws, the ferocious dragon Flew up, before airdropping its prey.

"Pokéball, go!" The Sygna Suited trainer tossed a ball at the falling imp moments before it made contact with the hard ground.

The competitive fire roared between the two trainers.

“Nice catch!” Elinor gave the competition a thumbs up. She had no intention of souring the experience with bad sportsmanship.

Unfortunately for her and Talonflame it seemed there was little prey to catch this time. Perhaps they would have better luck by moving area?

"Thanks, Eli! This is fun! I'm gonna check if there's any Pokémon hiding over there!" Andrea eagerly said, walking into another patch of tall grass. As she walked, she suddenly stepped on something squishy and flaccid. It made a farting noise.

"AIEEEEEEEEE!!!!" The unfortunate explorer was zapped by a non-lethal, but still painful discharge of electricity courtesy of the Stunfisk she had unwittingly put her foot on. Naturally, that incurred the wrath of her protector, Chomper, who fired a Draco Meteor at the ugly fish before it could flop away.

"S-s-s-see? T-t-t-that worked out..." The girl stuttered, her body twitching from the shock she'd just gotten. With a shaky hand, she tossed a Pokéball at what was left of the Stunfisk after Chomper was done with it. The fish was still alive, somehow.
