While Andrea Vaneau and Elinor Anderson had promised each other a veritable slice-of-life montage at the hot-springs in Lavaridge, Elinor had found herself longing for a good Pokemon-Capture-Trip in the wilds.

This wasn’t supposed to be something fancy, nor was there any deeper meaning to it. Sure some might long to hide such a simple desire behind the fear of Kyurem’s return. But this time she would do no such thing. The old Elinor might, but the new and improved Elinor had accepted herself for what she was; a simple Ranger/Trainer that just wanted to roam a particular route for a while catching whatever she could find of mild interest.

And so she sat against a large rock, waiting for the Dragon Enthusiast to arrive. A Talonflame soaring high above looking out for incoming dangers while its trainer was taking it easy.

Andrea was always happy to have a wild-capturing spree with a friend, especially this close to her home turf. The obligatory onsen episode would have to wait. Now was the time for dragon hunting!

Soon, Andrea arrived on Route 114 with her ace Chomper in tow. She didn't show off by using her Sygna Suit to fly this time. The skies belonged to Talonflame today.

"Hi, Eli! Ready to catch some new friends?" The Hydreigon cosplayer gleefully waved her sock puppet of a hand, closing and opening its mouth. "Rawr~!"

“I am sooo ready!” Elinor replied in turn. Beaming a bright eager smile, if one didn’t know better it could be assumed she might’ve been a new trainer. Alas she was not. Still, she would set upon the task of capturing with the enthusiasm of one.

And it didn’t take long before the first target was spotted.

A Palpitoad was merely going about its day, figuring that it might be neat to have a backup Water-Ground type, she whistled for the Talonflame’s attention and then pointed in the Palpitoads direction.

Elinor didn’t need to say any more as the flaming bird dove right in with an AERIAL ACE. The unfortunate Palpitoad didn’t stand much of a chance as the surprise attack led it to fall prey to the Talonflame’s talons. The bird even dragged it along the ground for a moment in a surprisingly viscous display before it gave up.

The Palpitoad was then laid before Elinor as a prize, one which she happily attempted to place within a Pokeball.

Elinor was indeed ready. As soon as the first critter jumped out of the tall grass, her bird of prey swooped down to catch it. "Whoa, that was fast! We've gotta keep up!" Andrea remarked. Just then, an irritating yet strangely catchy chant wormed itself into her ear.

"TRIO TRIO TRIO!"

"It's a Dugtrio! Go, Chomper!" The Sygna Suited girl ordered her Hydreigon, who made quick work of the Ground-type with a devastating Draco Meteor. Overkill? Perhaps, but those whack-a-moles were noisy and annoying as heck. In the dragon's eyes, they deserved it.

"Pokéball, go!" Andrea blindly hurled a ball towards the still smoking crater left behind by Chomper's attack, hoping for the best.

Elinor heard Andrea finish her own capture. “Good start so far, let’s keep it up, shall we?” She beamed a smile toward Andrea as she continued down the path looking for the next prey.

But Elinor didn’t even need see the next one before her Talonflame dove down to the next victim of its claws.

The Krookodile had been hiding itself somehow, ready to pounce on the unsuspecting travelers had its plans not interrupted by the fiery bird that swooped down, knocking out the fully evolved pokemon with a surprise STEEL WING before Elinor could throw a Pokéball at it.

All while Elinor wondered what Andrea would catch next.

"W-wait, when did this turn into a competition?" The Sygna Suited girl blurted out, blindsided by her fellow trainer's Pokémon-catching speed. "Now we REALLY need to keep up, right Chomper?" She exclaimed with a spark in her eye.

Andrea's JOLLINESS inspired her partner to Fly just as fast as that fiery bird of prey... straight into a wild Altaria that was sent crashing into the ground with a loud thud. The draconic cosplayer wasted no time throwing another ball at the cloudy dragon.

“Always has been.” Elinor spoke, the joking tone in her voice hopefully made it clear to the Dragon-Enthusiast that this was not a contest that required participation if she did not want to.

And while Elinor dealt with the Krookodile the Flame-bird had delivered, her bird of prey flew of scouring the land for more to capture.

The Fiery Falcon noticed a Pupitar that tried to cover and hide. It’s blue shell unfortunately stood out against the rocky terrain, making it an easy target. The sound of soaring hungry fire emerged into the air as the Talonflame dove down and grabbed its prey, before lifting it high up in the air and letting it fall. For all the Trashing the Pupitar did, it did not manage to get out in time and so it fell to the ground and upon impact was knocked out.

The Talonflame then flew down once again to grab and deliver the Pupitar to its trainer for Capture.

Andrea noticed a Stunky running through the tall grass. Taking out that poor thing with her Hydreigon would have been borderline bullying, so she left it to its own devices.

"Guess you have the lead for now!" She said with a smile, sitting at the sidelines and letting Elinor do her thing.

“Seems like it.” Elinor spoke with a smile. “But I get the feeling I won’t have it for long.” She knew Andrea had plenty of skill enough to catch up if not surpass her.

“What do you mean?” Andrea tilted her dragon-hooded head to the side, confused by Elinor’s statement.

Just then, a wild Bagon jumped out of the tall grass. Unfettered by the sight of the much larger Hydreigon, the flightless dragon exhaled a wave of blue fire powered by its envy for all winged creatures.

Annoyed, Chomper retaliated with an Outrage, sending the poor thing flying… straight into Andrea’s arms.

“You shouldn’t be picking fights you can’t win, little one.” The young woman gently said, before using a ball.
