Every fight was turning his Pinsir into a more feral beast. It was kind of amazing, actually, to watch the strength build and build, to be able to see it get stronger with each fight.

It reminded him why he used to do this. The reasons why he used to fight-- before… before.

Getting ready for their next match, Yuina was pumped and having such a great time with Daikenki. This was such a good way for them to work more closely together, in an environment where they could really learn how to battle and understand each other in the midst of combat.[break][break]
Patting the water type on the side of his neck, her hand smoothing out over his impossibly smooth fur, Yuina looked out to their next opponent as they took their place on the side of the field and...[break][break]
"You...," Yuina murmered, her eyes wide... She felt the sting at her sides, knowing the scars would be there for the rest of her life, the ache in her shoulders... She chanced a glance down to her hand, just to make sure it wasn't covered in her own blood...[break][break]
"I... No...," Yuina stammered, but it was too late, the officials rang for the start of the battle, it was time to begin.

Seeing him again, staring at him intently, Yuina felt that swell of emotion again... Somewhere between pain and anger... He put his life in her hands that day, and she unwittingly took the responsibility, the burden... For nothing... And she was the one that paid for it...[break][break]
She wanted to scream at him, she wanted to make him apologize for making her think that she was the line between life and death, to know that she now bore scars that would remind her of her folly every day... Should she have shown patience, mercy? It was a question that came to her everyday...[break][break]
"Daikenki, gekido," Yuina spoke the command, her tone harsh, and to match her the Samurott hissed with bared fangs as she tapped the orb on her belt. As Daikenki rushed forward with his seamitars unsheathed, he glimmered in a yellow crystal, Electric Tera, and met the snapping Pokemon with an Aerial Ace as the two clashed.

Onyx was not capable of the emotional depths required to understand why Yuina was so upset. He’d long ago hardened himself to killing and stopped seeing human lives in terms of their worth.

What should have been a super effective move strikes uselessly against the Electric-type tera, and a sharp line opened up across Lucan’s front, peeling away layers of carapace. Pale green blood oozed from the slice.

The injury just seemed to make Lucan angrier. Onyx touched the Mega Stone in his pocket, subsuming his Pinsir in bright light; electric-yellow wings burst from Lucan’s back, lifting him into the air as he aimed to grapple the Samurott and throw him with vital throw.

Even as she seethed at him, the tone of the battle set and the way Daikenki rushed forward to meet her fury, it was like their past encounter meant nothing to him as he looked on with little to no show of... Well, anything... And that truly made Yuina more furious.[break][break]
"How can you stand there, and say nothing? You let me hang there, believing that I was the only thing that could save your life," Yuina finally spoke, pain in her tone, and her ferocity was met with Daikenki's hisses and barks as the powerful bug moved to take them both into the air. The Samurott slashed with his seamitars, Aerial Ace swipes rushing around them both, even as he fell...[break][break]

Onyx’s face remained perfectly impassive, even as Yuina verbally struck out at him.

“You let yourself believe that,” he countered, voice calm and even. “You chose to believe that you had to be my savior.”

And even if it was a backwards-ass manner of thinking, it was true.

The Samurott hit the ground hard enough to dig a small divot. His aerial ace carved up along Lucan’s back, where the addition of his wings and their sheaths added extra protection. He lifted off into the air until he was a straight line, up and down, above the Samurott, where he then superpowered directly down.

Open maw, Daikenki huffed and hissed as he landed on the ground, his seamitars clattering against the surface as the bug tossed him unabashed with its power. Then it moved in for a terrible strike, coming in hard with an impact that caused Daikenki to cry out, panting through his maw...[break][break]
"And why wouldn't I have? Did you expect me to toss you away like you didn't matter," Yuina shot back as Daikenki disappeared into the shadows with Shadow Sneak, taking his reprieve, his moment to recoup...[break][break]
"But you sure showed me, huh? That I was weak, for caring, for showing mercy...," she returned, and as Daikenki lunged from the shadows in his glimmering yellow, he released the electrical power of a Tera Blast on the assaulting Pokemon.

The Samurott re-emerged, and Lucan flew towards it, trying to fight through the bug-zapper of tera blast with guillotine.

So that was it then? Humanity was her enemy in that moment, the reason why she bore the scars along her sides and hips... The way he regarded her, he thought so little of her in spite of what she tried to do... And in that moment, she wasn't sure who she felt more sorry for, herself, or whatever must have happened to him that he became so... inhuman...[break][break]
She had nothing more to say, what could she? Especially as in her moment of trying to discern how she should feel about any of this, Daikenki was... In trouble.[break]
The bug didn't let up, fighting through the Tera Blast that Daikenki used, snapping with its devastating pincers trying to get a hold of the Samurott. He lashed with his blades, trying to fight back with Aerial Ace, but was subdued with the grip that the bug managed.

Onyx knew what it was like to have a crisis of the conscience. He knew what it was like to be face-first buried in earthshattering revelations. He’d spent years terrorizing one single person, someone he’d though he’d hated, only to discover they held a power over him that no one else could even dream of wielding-- except for maybe his dead sister.

So it was kind of nice to be on the outside of the big, life-changing discovery. A bit refreshing, like enjoying a nice breeze.

Lucan struggled through the tera blast and though he stayed standing, his guillotine didn’t hit with the punch he’d expected it to. Instead, it left him primely positioned to take another aerial ace slash, this one cutting deep into the carapace of his left size. More olive-colored ichor leeched out from him, and one wing had a large tear in it, now.

He was on the dregs of his Mega-Evolution as he tried to X-Scissor the Samurott once more, attempting to open his chest up like a spatchcocked rotisserie chicken.

In a last ditch effort, trying to fight off the bug, Daikenki managed to pry himself away from the pincers with just enough effort to avoid being cleaved in two. His strikes with his blades proved effective, but only just, the assault wasn't going to end until there was a clear victor. Barking and heaving through his open maw in an attempt to stave off the rampaging attack that lunged for him, Daikenki released one last Tera Blast to try and keep himself from being gutted by the bug Pokemon that was so bent on his demise...
