Was this a date? Remiel wasn't sure. He knew neither of them were doing relationships right now anyway, so why not? They'd been talking about what he'd been up to lately, he'd mentioned the RKS SIMULATIONS, and Leilani Ka’uhane had expressed interest. What followed, of course, was an invite to participate in a few with him.[break][break]

While a part of him would rather be lounging in a cozy little cabin bed with her somewhere, however, the Galarian was interested to see what she thought about it all. He steals a glance at her first impression of the simulation they've just entered: the RUINS OF ALPH. Ignoring the haunting whispers echoed through its corridors and out from their walkie-talkie speakers, he asks her a question.[break][break]

So far, Lani had rarely drifted out of her comfort zone. Why would she when things were working out so well for her doing what she was doing. She was aware of her...assets and strengths. If it wasn't broken, why bother fixing it. That had been her mentality until recently. Orthrus was struggling and Jack Magnus was going through quite the mental funk because of it. [break][break]

She couldn't blame him though. It seemed like the family was falling apart before his eyes and he felt hopeless to stop it. If Leilani was being honest with herself she had been distracting herself from it all recently as well. Specifically choosing not to dwell on the departure of those she cared about the most. [break][break]

But she couldn't leave Magnus to carry this heavy burden on his own. She didn't want to. So if that meant she would need to finally leave what was safe and comfortable for her, then so be it. Part of that included opening her eyes to the things that were going around her in the region. Beyond the sphere of her influence. [break][break]

Remiel offered the perfect assistance to help introduce her into maneuverings around Hoenn. Of course, she'd lately been enjoying her time with him. His company was much more comforting than she had originally thought it to be. Then again, she'd only initially pursued him because of how he looked and the challenge he presented. But she was left with something rather sweet and pleasant after all of that. She found herself constantly returning to his side as of late, which was out of character for her. [break][break]

This...simulation, truly astounded her. She knew that it wasn't real and yet it seemed so...[break][break]

Leilani reached out to touch the wall of the ruins next to her in disbelief. And to her surprise it felt awfully real. Eerie whispers escape from the speakers in their possession, but for once instead of being scared she found herself curious as to find out what this whispers were. [break][break]

Remiel snaps her from her thoughts with a question and she finds herself looking around the ruins once more. "It's...impressive..." she speaks softly, clearly still in awe. "And...a bit overwhelming." she admits before stepping closer to him, grabbing hold of his hand. Lani offers him a small smile, her nervousness obvious, but as was her curiosity.[break][break]

"You mean the whispers right?" she said as she used her free hand to pull out her walkie-talkie that was abuzz with the mysterious noise. "Yeah...but...do you know what it means?" Lani gulped a bit. She wasn't exactly the best equipped to deal with dangerous situations but there was always a starting point, right? [break][break]

Lingering closer to Remiel she presses the walkie-talkie close to her chest. "Y-You don't think it's warning us to leave right...or...a curse or something?" Men loved a damsel in distress right? "N-not that I'm scared or anything but...you'll look out for me, right?"

Leilani had always displayed an aura of independence and confidence that was unlike any woman Remiel had met before. Well... all except one. Nevertheless, in this dark and ominous simulation, she exhibited a side of herself that Remiel hadn't seen before: a meekness in the face of something she'd never experienced.[break][break]

Though it surprises him, he offers her hand a reassuring squeeze before pulling her in close. Pride swells in his chest as a result. If she trusted him to protect her, then he would not fail her. "It'll be alright, I promise. It's just a simulation, anyway, Lani." The prince smiles, reaching up to affectionately tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear as he leans in.[break][break]

"And I'm always looking out for you, you know that." Where a reassuring squeeze of her hand might have failed, he hopes a reassuring kiss in the darkness of those ruins might pick up the slack. When they part, he keeps his face close as he whispers, their noses rubbing gently against one another all the while. "Your hand doesn't have to leave mine until you're ready, alright?"[break][break]

A simulation. Right, yeah, that's all this was.[break][break]

It was just trickier to remind herself of that fact with how lifelike everything seemed around her. But she wasn't here alone, as she was readily reminded by the squeeze of her hand from Remiel. While the whole 'fragile' thing was just an act, truthfully she was a touch nervous. But it was easy for all those feelings to wash away in the presence of someone capable.[break][break]

Remiel pulled her closer to him and continued to reassure her that she was in good hands. His touch was gentle, as was the way he looked at her. She could tell she nailed it her performance by how he held her. It was exciting to play with him like this, but above all, Remiel lately had been such a fun person to be around, she couldn't get enough.[break][break]

When his lips met hers once more she felt everything around them vanish, even this whispers. It was just them, alone, here in this space at this time. Once he did inevitably pull away Leilani had to resist the urge to go back in for seconds. They hovered close to one another of a bit before Lani softly chuckled at his comforting words.[break][break]

"Alright," she said with her crimson pools twinkling in the dim light. Pulling their intertwined hands up so he could see, she pressed her lips gently on the back of his hand. "I'll hold you to that." she said with a wry smirk. This was feeling more and more like a little date than some exploration through a simulation.[break][break]

With a tilt of her head, she glanced around their surroundings once more. "So, where to?" she asked before turning back to Remiel for guidance. "What do we do first?"

Pride swells in his chest. If Lani was fooling him into thinking she was vulnerable and in distress, the royal still appreciated how strong and dependable she made him feel, even outside of the simulation. It helped take his mind off the regret, blame, and other shortcomings that constantly made him feel less than. Because, despite his cool exterior, Remiel's sense of worth had lately been in tatters.[break][break]

It's dangerous, of course, how holding her hand makes him feel. He knows he needs to emotionally pull back a bit. But he can't but smile after she teases him. And at the fact that their hands remain entwined as they continue. "Right," He says, taking another look around at the chamber.[break][break]

"Do you hear that? The call?" The exiled prince whispers, gesturing towards the nearby tunnel with a nod. Despite knowing what's to come, he wants to leave an air of mystery in it all for Lani. "Should we follow it? Or resist the pull?"[break][break]

Leilani followed his gaze towards the cave in the distance. "Now that you mention it..." she muttered to herself. The whispers had returned as soon as Remy had pointed them out. The Alolan native pressed her lips into a thin line.

[break][break] Despite the repeated mantra to herself, this was all beginning to feel less and less like an act and more of a reality. But...who would she be if she didn't push her limits? So, upon the question of do they resist the call or follow it...there was really only one answer.

[break][break] With a nod, Leilani pointed towards the cave, her intention clear. She could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as they inched closer to the cave of darkness. She unknowingly squeezed Remy's hand tighter as the continued on with her decision. She couldn't help but slightly regret this choice as they got closer to the entrance. "Here goes nothing..." she whispered.
