Things could've been going better. Two losses and zero wins was a wild, unfortunate record for a guy who had once trounced his way through a similar tournament...

"Should I become a try-hard again?" He wondered outloud with a wry smile, scratching at his cheek.

A funny idea, but not a real choice. Kama's age seemed to be catching up to her and she didn't seem like she was about to regain her edge anytime soon.

Maybe if he hadn't fallen behind on the Gimmick weapon's race...

"No, who the heck's got the money for one of those suits anyway?" He sighed, shaking his head as he arrived at his destination: One of the designated street arenas that had been sanctioned for the tournament.

And there was...

"Well then! 'ello there, private!" He saluted crookedly, a cheeky grin on his lips. "Here to get your revenge?"

Of all of the matches that Yuina may have been expecting, it was certainly a welcome surprise to see none other than Doug as she and Daikenki moved towards their next battle set. He regarded her, ever teasing and cheeky, about their training endeavors together.[break]
"Revenge? Why would you say that," Yuina questioned, though she gave him a knowing glance. He really did put her through the wringer out at that camp of his, he should be thankful this tournament was sanctioned with the rule sets that it had.[break][break]
"Unless you're afraid of going up against the product of your own training regimen," she gave a wry smile, a glimmer in her amber eyes.[break]
Of all of the matches Yuina may have been expecting, this one was going to be her most fun yet.

He snickered, grabbing his pokeball before lugging it in the air, releasing Kama onto the field.

The Scyther crouched low as she landed, once again beginning her stretching routine as she regarded her opponent. This one didn't seem like an infant, so at least it wouldn't be as humiliating if she lost...

Wait, that was a loser's mindset! Win, win, win!!!

As the Scyther continued to hype herself up, Doug made an innocent shrug.

"Maybe a little." He admitted with a snicker, before patting his Scyther in the back. "Can't say things have been going swell so far... but don't mind that."

He slapped his Scyther in the back, prompting her to roar, filled with fighting spirit.

"Now go have fun, Kama!"

The bug launched forth, swiping at her opponent with the flat of her scythes.

Doug's teasing only went on for so long before he fell into the sportsmanship of the setting they were in, and Yuina made sure to take her side of the field as he released his Pokemon for the on coming match. Sounded like he wasn't having too much luck in the tournament so far?[break][break]
"Well, you'd be disappointed if we pulled punches, so we'll just have to see what happens," Yuina offered, lightening the tone and matching his sportsmanship. He sent his Scyther forward, and the battle began as Daikenki rushed in to meet the bug. Yuina tapped the orb at her belt to take on Daikenki's Electric Tera, and in glittering yellow energy the Samurott met the bug type in the middle of the field, clashing scythes with seamitars.

"Oh, don't mind my pride, go ahead and hold back all you want." He jested with a laugh, before raising an arm to his face as blinding light exploded from the battlefield.

A moment later, he could only release a whistle at the sight before him, turning his gaze over to Kama. and gulping.

Yup, she was intimidated alright. Even as Kama managed to land the first lucky blow, she leapt back quickly, not too keen to stick close to her opponent in their strange new form.

Tera Forms were a strange, impressive sight.

She hadn't been to a battlefield, real or sports-like in a while; not until the VCT started. All the new stuff was catching her off guard.

Threatened by the new form, she couldn't help but tap into her own strengths, a red aura surging around her as she growled, garnering strength.

"Seems like Kama's gotten scared." He said, crossing his arms thoughtfully as the Scyther leapt back before swinging her now reddish scythe forth, releasing a massive gust of wind towards the Tera'd Daikenki.

TLDR:
-Kama used Z-move: Heaven Cleaver; eliminates and prevents weather effects for 5 turns.

The match quickly became a sword fight as the two Pokemon met on the field, the sound of clashing metal scythes against Daikenki's blades ringing out. The Bug met him with a powerful blow, knocking the Samurott back a good ways, and Daikenki barked at being tossed around. His shimmering crystalline energy seemed to give him favor though as the bug backed down a little, but only just. It was far from through with giving all it could.[break]
The Scyther raised its scythes again and a harrowing, blustering wind enveloped the field as it lashed at Daikenki, the sheer power of it was nearly enough to knock Yuina over as she tried to dig her feet in. Daikenki hissed, taking as much of the brunt of the blow as he could before his tera energy crackled, releasing a Tera Blast that threatened to burst through the howling winds.

As their blows crashed into one another, whipping up a thick smokescreen, Doug eyes narrowed, attempting to discern the shadows shifting through the dust cloud.

"Clear up!" He ordered, prompting Kama to swivel in place with her scythes stretched out like fans, her body spinning rapidly through the arena as she swords danced, her gaze finding her opponent's silhouette within the smokescreen.

Launching forth to attack, she attempted to end the battle with a single, focused strike.

TLDR:
-Kama used Swords Dance to clear smoke.
-Kama used Close Combat to strike.

Coughing as the two attacks erupted over the field, blowing dust, dirt, and everything else in between around the powerful blow, Yuina turned for that moment to shield her eyes. The battle was coming down to the wire, if Daikenki couldn't land one strike, their hand in the battle was over.[break]
The dust showed no signs of settling until Doug called out for his Scyther to do some work, and in a dizzying display of its scythes and wings working together, the field was cleared and it was poised for another blow, rushing towards Daikenki.[break][break]
"Daikenki, kage," Yuina called, the short command in their shared dead language, as the Scyther rushed along the ground. The otter barked, leaping into the shadows with Shadow Sneak, disappearing from the field, but only for a moment as he emerged and lunged from the depths to strike with an Aerial Ace amongst his slashing blades.

With one last, climactic clash between the two pokemon's blades, the battle came to an end, the smokescreen that had permeated the field getting whipped away by the mutual last blows.

Slowly, Doug released the breath he hadn't realized he had been holding, feeling his shoulders sag slightly.

"Hooh." He wheezed, holding his heart, before raising his arms in the air triumphantly. "Still the master!"

For her part, Kama released a victorious roar, arms widespread as she reeled as far back as her spine would allow.

FINALLY! A GODDAMN WIN! WOOOOO!

As the Scyther continued to break character to express just how happy she was to not be made to eat shit again, Doug approached Yuina with a smile, holding out his hand.

"Ya did well, private." He said with a wink. "But... I might have teeny-weeny unfair advantage there."

He had, after all, trained her. If anyone knew the ins and outs to her strategy (for now), it was probably him.
