Shalin's next opponent in the tiring Vital City tournament would be a familiar face: a war buddy that had seen her Sygna Suit in action. With the loud and shrill vibration her Flygon was capable of, she had repelled Rocket forces while serving as a war courier. Just because she had rare Pokémon and a Sygna Suit didn't make her a fighter. If anything, her suit was a tool of her own amusement, a wide grin on her face every time she was buzzed, shaken, and now with her Venusaur, even whipped through the air.

"Evening, Melody!" Shalin waved toward the idol. "Great to see you again after the war! I'm glad I could get released from Dewford with enough time to prepare for the tournament." Having introduced the Beedrill to her once, there was no need to, but the green wasp still waved a friendly greeting with the flat of her foreleg sting.

She looks to the beedrill, surprised to not be seeing her flygon with her as it was mostly what Melody saw her using in the past. She grins wickedly as she was excited to see a new routine from Shalin. She clears her throat and fixes her sygnasuit as she adjusts it momentarily. "Well Regardless, let's get started! First move is yours Shalin." As she gives a showman's bow.

"You don't remember Dewford? We--" Wait, Melody had been on an operation with her! Perhaps she was just keeping quiet about it in public. "After the match, we can talk about it. Just because you're one of the best in Hoenn doesn't mean I can't make you sweat!"

The starting horn would sound, Beedrill buzzing noises drowning out any conversation to come. Shalin had hoped the noise would drown out the fairy-type's voice, as well; even with all the speed she had, there was no avoiding sonic attacks. Cranking up the speed and volume of her wings by blowing a TAILWIND behind herself, she zipped around the battle court to try to overpower and mask any sonic attacks the water-type was to make.

"Oh ya." she wasn't she what shalin had meant by the word release but it seemed to just be a silly misunderstanding from Melody's end. [break][break]

A tailwind is quickly set up and Melody thinks that Shalin was going to be trying to take a similar approach to josh's battling style since they were friends after all. "A tail wind huh? Let's make it a bit more difficult for you then." she says as Melody gives her order. [break][break]

Primarina gleefully agrees as an ICY WIND erupts from her maw, she tries to push it against the tailwind, hoping it connects to the bee and manages to slow it down by forming ice chunks on it's wings. [break][break]

The noise was harmonic but deafening, the howl of the ICY WIND a treble to the TAILWIND's bass. Feeling the first bit of cold wind, Queen Zing turned around to move her column of air directly in the path of the attack, creating a shield of wind to let it blow around her.

The small bit of frost covering her wings seemed to slow her down a little. With the potential for wind making ranged attacks unreliable, she zipped toward the Primarina, venom oozing from her foreleg stings before throwing POISON JABS with them.

Poison strikes threatened to end the battle quickly as Primarina was aversive to any type of corroding elements. [break][break]

She and Melody panic at the same time as Melody delays in giving an order until the very last moment, they feigned panic. "ARIA!" she orders as suddenly primarina blows a massive bubble in front of her. She was attempting to create a massive air bag to block the strike but only time would tell who would win this blow. [break][break]

Her sygnasuit shines, connecting with primarina and enhancing her abilities even further. [break][break]

The vocalist's suit resonated with her Primarina much like Shalin's did with her Flygon. Both were musically inclined, yet they couldn't be more different. The water-type's songs were generally captivating to listen to, and the dragon's were grating, using sound as a nasty weapon.

That was neither here nor there; at the very last minute, the aquatic creature's SPARKLING ARIA ensnared Queen Zing in a bubble, causing her to float all the way back to Shalin's side. Having floated out of bounds, there would be a penalty assessed to the Beedrill.

Already down a costly point, Shalin could not afford to mess around anymore. Raising her hand to her MEGA CIRCLET, she induced MEGA EVOLUTION from the green wasp, the already terrifying creature growing two more stings from her forelegs. With a terrifying whirling noise, all four of them spun like a Rhydon's horn, the DRILL RUN threatening to bore into Primarina.

The mega evolution happens abruptly. She manages to just barely parry the last attack, now with this mega evolution it would make it an even trickier situation. [break][break]

"Primarina watch out! blind em!" she orders as primarina was not a creature adept at speed, but melody knew just how to compensate for that. A disengage maneuver that also protected them from status effects. Pink misty suddenly explodes outwards from Primarina as this was how melody used misty terrain, a smoke screen without warning. [break][break]

Hopefully it makes the drill run miss. [break][break]

The MISTY TERRAIN was far more damaging than what Melody may have expected; its dense swirls clogged the holes in Queen Zing's stings, turning them into mere spears incapable of injecting poison. It was little wonder she was Elite Four; she not only had strength, but wit to back it up. Expecting to lose, all Shalin could do was try to make it close.

Queen Zing's wings roared, fluttering about in a TAILWIND to try to disperse enough of the mist to see. At the first opening, she would extend her final remaining weapon toward Primarina: her fearsome FELL STINGER. Long and thin, its piercing power was to be reckoned with, and the venom it could deliver might make the water-type feel like it was burning up from the inside out.

Melody grins as the battle was possibly coming to a quick conclusion. [break][break]

She held off on giving an order to primarina, noticing a pattern with shalin's battling style. While the creature was quick...it's path was predictable, and seeing as how primarina's main objective was to overwhelm her opponents with fire power and not essentially moving. She had an idea, she was going to gamble. [break][break]

She waited until the last moment. "Hydro cannon!" [break][break]

The Beedrill's deadly stinger was about to pierce the Primarina's face when a column of water flooded her rear at surreal pressures. Queen Zing's compound eyes flickered rapidly as the HYDRO CANNON pushed her stinger back into its socket, flooding her venom sac. The pain she was in completely incapacitated her, forcing the end of the match.

With the wave of a judge's red flag, Shalin tilted her head down and walked toward Melody with her right hand outstretched. "That was a lot closer than I thought it would be. Really gutsy call, but it paid off." She took a few breaths, nearly turning around before asking with a sly smile on her face, "We make great music together, don't we?"

The treble of a Primarina's voice and the bass of a Beedrill's wings had a certain harmony to it, right?
