Introductions would be cut short by the starting bell, and by Queen Zing's buzzing wings. The vibration was maddeningly loud, so much that even her trainer put her earplugs in. The Poochyena's small size could prove to be an advantage, the nimble dog more easily able to evade her burning, puncturing stings than a fully-grown Pokémon.

Even so, she was the aggressor, but not in the same way as with larger opponents. Rather than charging like a flying knight, the wasp pointed her foreleg stings toward the grey and black dog, loosing a barrage of TWINEEDLES at Kyle's Pokémon. All it would take would be a few piercing Kilo's fur, and he would feel the burn of Beedrill venom.

The Poochyena having a ranged attack was unexpected. Just as Queen Zing was about to kick up the density of her needle barrage, a psychic wave shunted the wasp to one side of the arena, leaving her blue eyes blinking rapidly. With it now known that the dog was a menace at range, as well, Shalin had little choice. Most of a Beedrill's power was in close quarters. If she would be in danger no matter how far away she was, she may as well play to her own strengths.

The Beedrill zipped toward Kilo, raising her menacing-looking FELL STINGER toward the dark-type. Were she able to swoop in for her most potent sting and land it, the burning sensation might be difficult for even the Top Champion's Pokémon to stave off!

Though Kilo may have been envenomed, it came with a great price for Queen Zing: the DRAGON HAMMER crushed her rear sting. While the light of MEGA EVOLUTION would rejuvenate the Beedrill, she would still be without her most dangerous weapon for the rest of the battle.

It mattered little; the wasp more than made up for it with raw firepower, now sporting four foreleg stings instead of two. Her giant wings propelled her toward the Poochyena, POISON JABBING at him with as many of her four stings as she had room for.

If the Poochyena wanted to PLAY ROUGH, then play rough Queen Zing would, likewise. Her rear sting would be a perfect weapon if it hadn't been disabled already. The Beedrill had plenty of deadly weapons in its arsenal, including a creative one Shalin gave the double thumbs-up to use.

The saddle-wearing wasp flew toward Kilo, feigning a second Poison Jab volley. Instead, she would pull up at the last minute, trying to snatch the small dog Pokémon in her legs and stings. Were she successful, she would whip up a powerful TAILWIND with her wings, not to fly faster, but as a makeshift Bug Buzz, her body vibrating furiously to leave the Poochyena badly disoriented (and perhaps sick to his tummy, too!)

Just as Queen Zing was winding up for a lethal sting, the foretold psychedelic bomb exploded right on top of her, blasting the wasp out of bounds. The side judge promptly raised their red flag and pointed it at Shalin, the Top Champion the winner.

"Great match - thought I had you for a moment!" Shalin exhaled, able to speak again after withdrawing her fallen Pokémon. "Your Sygna Suit's neat. I wish I'd have brought mine, but I felt it would be better to understand what causes Queen Zing to go berserk after she Mega Evolves. Now I understand, and I think I have a way to fix it. Thanks! If you're adventurous, want to go exploring the corners of Hoenn sometime soon?" It was less about that and more her wanting to impress him with her Sygna Suit, but both were fun to think about!
