In all his short time as a League officer, he had fought against great beasts, incredibly talented trainers under League and fierce opponents through Rocket. But what astonished him the most, was just how young and small some of these challengers in the tournament were. To face one child in the form of Eris Halla was purely coincidental. But now to go against another now must mean there was something beneath this. Kids these days must be much more braver than he was back then. Or perhaps the League had children employed... the thought disturbed him even more.[break][break]

But unlike Eris, he would not lose to a child once again. His pride wouldn't take the loss. Steeling himself ready for the match, he sends out his Shaymin onto the field to meet their new foe. Smiling first at his Pokemon, then to the challenger across the way, greeting them casually.[break][break]

"Hey there, I'm Noel Parker. I hope we have a great match today."[break][break]

It was another battle in the VCT, and Lucia was still pumped and ready to go from her last win! Sure she was technically 1-4, but that just meant she had more things to look forward to when she did win again!

The child walked across into the battlefield with a Dunsparce on her head, slithering down her form quietly and landed onto the court while a light thud and rattling at the man standing across from her. Hero had just barely scrapped by last run, and he was aiming to do better than last round.

Lucia looked over at Noel. That silent expression of somebody too nervous to focus on introductions in full. Eyes full of a fear of performing in front of others. She offered a frazzled but somewhat put together wave of her hand while keeping the name to herself.

"H-Hi." Lucia said after a while. The locks of her over her nose shuffled around after being pushed with her right hand to uncover her face"Yeah, um. Let's...have a good match. Mhm."

Smooth as always. She shuffled in place, her backpack containing her belongings on her back before looking down at the opponent's pokemon. What even was that? She hadn't seen that kind of pokemon before. Was it some kind of weird dog?

This one was more reserved than the other. Now Noel felt bad for all that he had thought previously, after all, they were still children. He should treat her more gently, although, in this situation considering the tournament, that wasn't really a possibility. He thought he'd might as well go on ahead and make this as quickas possible for her. With a tap of his Tera orb, he changes his Shaymin into its Grass Tera. He then eyes his opponent down with a serious look on his face, determined to not lose to another kid.[break][break]

"I hope you're prepared, because here we go!"[break][break]

And with that the match starts. Noel's Pokemon analyzes their foe, the Dunsparce not moving at all, as if awaiting the hedgehog to make the first move. These types of Pokemon were the most dangerous, there was no telling what they were thinking of and what they were capable of either. If they wanted Noel to have the first go, then so be it.[break][break]

Firing off a few Energy Balls, the Tera boosted grass projectiles would whizz past the unsuspecting normal-type. A sort of warning shot for what was about to happen next. It lets loose another one, but this time aimed straight for the Dunsparce.

Lucia's eyes watched as Noel would pull out a tera orb and power up his pokemon with the terastallization phenomenon that her home region was known for. She huffed, that timid face breaking for a moment as a shift whine came from her.

"Y-You're lucky I can't afford one!...Cheater!"

She stomped her foot down and continued to throw a silent tantrum while her Dunsparce looked over at the Shaymin but didn't approach. It allowed it to make the first move as it rattled the drill tail slugging behind it. He didn't have to wait too long, as his opponent let loose several orbs sent in its direction. Hero was quick to realiate, lunging towards the pokemon with a DRILL RUN.

Her anger could be felt all around the arena. Onlookers whispered among themselves about how awful it was for someone to pick on a child. Noel is able to hear a bit of what they were saying, getting annoyed at being put out to be the bad guy in this situation. It wasn't his fault she wasn't able to have access to this power, if she worked hard enough though, she soon would be able to. [break][break]

"H-Hey calm down. People are starting to get the wrong idea about this. Listen... I'll help you get one of your own after this all right?"[break][break]

He pleaded with her in an attempt to quell her rage. Anything to stop the hushed gossip from bystanders making him out to be a terrible person.[break][break]

The two Pokemon continue on with their battle, unknowing of what was occurring around them. The Dunsparce's sudden attack surprises Noel's Shaymin, the normal-type crashing into the hedgehog causing it to get knocked back quite a distance with a few bruises. Not wanting to be one-upped by this defenseless pokemon, it sends an Earth Power crashing through the ground. Jagged spears made of stone that would come out from underneath and begin travelling to their opponent.

The audience had been watching the two since they met in the middle, their hushed whispers echoed around the arena. Lucia wasn't even sure of what she was doing until she saw Noel panic a little and talk about buying her one. Now she just looked like some kind of mooch trying to score a free tera orb from somebody.

"AH-I didn't mean it that way! Sorry, I...I'm sorry!"

Dunsparce was struck by the Shaymin's attack. The tera boosted move had definitely left its mark on the poor grass snake. Hero hissed in defiance at his opponent. as it came at him again. He surrounded himself in a mysterious energy, and then fired off an ANCIENT POWER of his own.

Dodging left and right, the Shaymin is able to briskly get out of harm's way from the oncoming rocks. Yet some manage to land their mark, pelting away at the hedgehog's body over and over again until it trips and falls to the ground. It slowly but surely rises back up to the occasion, shaking away whatever dirt the move had left on its body and eyeing its opponent with a fierce look. Returning the power with an Earth Power sent straight through the floor, ripples of earth on its way to meet their target. Once underneath the Dunsparce, the jagged rock spews out from underneath it, threatening to cut or crush him.[break][break]

All meanwhile the little girl apologizes for her behavior, she seemed truly sorry and Noel thought he should relax a bit more and give her a break. Placing a hand on his hip, he lets out a sigh and then turns his face into a warm smile.[break][break]

"Hey don't worry, I really don't mind helping you get one. If you're going to want to continue on in this tournament you'll need all the firepower you can get."[break][break]

Both attacks met in a wild crash of stone versus earth. Hero has snaked out of the way partially, only managing to get thrown away by the Earth Spikes. The crowd gasped at the display, with both opponents bounding away from one another.

Lucia was looked a bit more confident in her friend. The Dunsparce rose its tail into the sky, gathering energy inside of his tail as it grew to a larger size. When Shaymin continued its attack on him, Hero slithered over to Noel's pokemon and dove at it tail first.

"Oh, u-um...thank you. Do you need something?" Lucia asked, "I feel bad taking help without offering any...I think that's what trainers do. I can't do much though. Maybe cook?"

To think a child at her age could already cook on her own astounded Noel. While he made his own food for himself and his Pokemon, it certainly was no gourmet meal and he lacked the means to practice and get better. Maybe a dish from someone else could grow some inspiration in him, even if she was more than half his age.[break][break]

"Sure we'll take you up on that offer. I'm sure you could cook something delicious up."[break][break]

Meanwhile the Dunsparce's tail aims to take a stab toward his Shaymin. The unassuming Pokemon takes a quick jab at the hedgehog, its tail sharp as a knife that cuts away at its opponent's body. Where one land connects another soon follows, rapid attacks in succession cause the Shaymin to take steps back and try and get away from the onslaught.[break][break]

Jumping back, it growls in anger at the damage the Dunsparce was able to cause so quickly. Its body began to vibrate with power, a green energy radiating off its body that soon was sent out in wavy projectiles. The Seed Flare was aimed directly at their foe, hoping to land a solid blow against it.

Lucia smiled to herself at the agreement to treat Noel and his pokemon to dinner. Most kids in Paldea had some amount of skill in the culinary arts. It came natural, be it with the tried and true sandwiches or testing the waters with foods abroad, such as curry from Galar. She even couldn't count how many times she helped her mother in the kitchen to prepare dinner or lunch.

"Great! I'll, um...try and pick up more food when I get the money."

Hero had landed his first hit on the SHaymin once it had finally rebounded from its attack. It launched another seedy attack at the normal-type which it was ready for. The Dunsparce began to pump itself up in a mysterious energy, summoning the latent power inside of his body and surged forth towards his opponent with a DRAGON RUSH!

The Shaymin is taken aback by the sudden dragon-type move. That moment of hesitance is enough for its defense to lower, causing it to take the full brunt of the attack. It smacks head first into the hedgehog, forcing it to bounce away and get smacked up against a nearby wall. A small crater is formed against the granite, it slowly but surely flops back down onto the ground, dazed by the sheer ferocity that the Dunsparce was capable of. [break][break]

"Don't worry it'll all be on me. I don't know what kind of person I would be if I made a kid buy everything."[break][break]

Things were not looking so well for Noel and his partner. They were on their last leg and they needed one more chance in order to turn things around. Thankfully they saved their best move for situations like this. Once it shook of its confused state, the Shaymin prepares itself for one gigantic attack. Powering up with its Tera type, it would open its mouth to unleash a Solar Beam towards their foe. The laser so large it would crash and break through a metal street light along the way.

The sudden force impacting the Shaymin was enough to pull through its attack. Hero came to a stop as the dragon type move connected and sent the Shaymin flying. He was still ready to continue the fight, watching his opponent while the Tera Orb would come into play once more.

The Shaymin powered itself up with a Grass crystal, the green colors bounced off of the reflective surface while Noel's pokemon would attack one against. The Dunsparce pumped itself up full of energy and took off to the approaching Solar Beam. It rose its tail into the air, the drill growing to a humungous size for another HYPER DRILL!

Much to their surprise, the Dunsparce doesn't let up at all, aiming to end this in one fell swoop. It breaks through the gigantic laser, crashing through and stabbing its tail into the Shaymin's side. The hedgehog stays still for a moment, not wanting to let this be the end, unfortunately it gives in to its wounds and lays flat on the ground. The Dunsparce stands triumphant standing over the body of its foe.[break][break]

Noel couldn't believe it, he had lost to not just one, but two children in this tournament now. How hard must he have fallen to be subjected to such a fate? Nevertheless, he would accept his defeat with honor and act as such. He returns his Shaymin back to its Pokeball to give it some needed rest. He would then walk up to Lucia and put a hand to his hip with a sigh escaping his mouth.[break][break]

"Well... Even after all that talk you managed to beat me. Come on, I promised I'd get us those ingredients for you to cook with and I intend to keep my word. After all, food is on the winner now."[break][break]
