It was only slightly questioning, and more directed towards herself, like she wasn't sure either. Then again, this wasn't a smiling contest. This was a battle tournament.

"Let's get this show on the road, then." she replies, sending her Zoroark out on the field.

She'd expected many things from the small bipedal feline, but a Blast Burn as opening move was in a league of its own.

Zoroark takes no time to weave itself away from the incoming wall of scorching fire, using Agility to enhance its movements and speed. If it can dodge the Blast Burn successfully it will try to counter-attack...

Alas, its enhanced speed seems naught against the fiery purge singing its fur. It shakes its head and snorts, trying to shake off the damage.

A low-throated growl follows as Zoroark pushes itself off, trying to close in on the Meowth.

using BLAST BURN so early on may put them at a disadvantage as meowth now needs to spend most of the round recovering. thankfully, Yvaine Varron and their zoroark seem keen on boosting their stats, so that works in their favor.[break][break]

matias says nothing, only watching as meowth prepares itself to sustain a hit. it does lazily drag a SHADOW CLAW over to try and intercept it.[break][break]

The Zoroark circles around the recovering Meowth ever so carefully, assessing the potential openings it might have. But by diverting its focus away from its enhancing its speed, the fox loses momentum, getting hit by a Shadow Claw before it can properly react.

It snarls and counter-attacks with a Night Slash of its own, trying to get into the Meowth's face.

The end is near yet again; fate does not seem to play in their favor, but such is life. But no matter the cost, they will not cease until the end has truly come.

Zoroark, on its last legs, would like for nothing more than to dodge, but it would be energy ill-wasted. So when the Meowth's Shadow Claw flies, so does a Night Slash of its own, a clash of claws as it attempts to defend against the full burnt of sharpened feline talons.

It seems to work rather well, and much to her surprise the Zoroark seems to experience a second wind, continuing its onslaught of Night Slashes.

The Meowth's nimble footwork seems to be the reason not all of them are hitting the way it wants, but it's chipping away at the feline's power bit by bit.

NIGHT SLASHES bring matias down to two lives remaining against Yvaine Varron's one. so far, the comeback story is proving true, but he does not bother with trying to stop it.[break][break]

if it makes for a good story, then so be it.[break][break]

Why stop that which was clearly working in their favor? Night Slash seemed to be the key to getting through the Meowth's defenses, so that was what it would continue doing.

Even when a Shadow Claw slashed across its chest, it remained brazen and flung back its left arm, unleashing an uppercut-style Night Slash at the Meowth's face.
