It it not unlike the black coalesced over Saffron, all the sin and hatred of the city pooled together into some great morass, running into the gutter and collecting in the heart of the underground where she was stained in it irrevocably.[break][break]

The curse still lingers here, long after the Purifier cleansed the worst of it. Scabbed over, it still festers and bleeds into the heart of pokemon who call this place their home.[break][break]

She talks to the children of the forest, stopped from joining them only by her bulbasaur wrapping vines round her ankle to keep her nearby. A tether, to keep her from falling into it. [break][break]

Before she can react, her Bulbasaur leaps to attention, snapping her vines wildly at the air. Baki flinches. As she opens her eyes again, she notes a bunch of spent poison spines fallen to the ground.[break][break]

"... Good catch, Ai."[break][break]

She gulps.[break][break]

Her little companion is fierce already, rearing to go, to fight the beast. Her show, however, turns the beast away. It shrinks back into the shadows with a low growl, realizing that the small size of its prey doesn't equate an easy victory.[break][break]

"Where'd you learn to do that!?"[break][break]

She's her mother's daughter after all.[break][break]

[attr="class","star2tsu4"]They trek further into the woods. Shadows shift further in the brush. She can feel eyes on her. It's dreadful, being seen like this, but she pushes onward toward a sickly sweet scent grows more and more intense.[break][break]

"Ai... you smell it too, don't'cha?"[break][break]

Baki covers her face with her sleeve, looking back at her bulbasaur. The seedling nods, following the scent into the brush. A few startled cries, and she emerges with vines wrapped around a small faerie.[break][break]

"... Didn't have to do that. But I appreciate it."[break][break]

Baki reaches out and frees the little insect, which flies off cursing under its breath in buzzes. Ai seems dejected by that, but soon her attention is on the path again. They keep moving.[break][break]

Baki balks, her stomach churning, but she pushes onward in the dark. Brambles and branches scrape her skin, tear at her clothes, but she pushes past the deepest heart of the forest, only to tumble off a cliff. She falls, blind in the dark, rolling and catching herself at the bottom of a dank, wet cave.[break][break]

"Urgh... smells awful in here... Ai, where are you!?"[break][break]

She calls out, but that spurs the walls of the cave to life. They begin to squeeze down on her. [break][break]

"Shit... this ain't a cave... a-at all!!"[break][break]

The fluid coating the walls begins to burn, and she struggles fruitlessly. Then, a hard crack. The walls suddenly retract, and she's spit onto the forest floor, her seedling snarling as she tears leaves from the predatory pitcher.[break][break]

"A-Ai, what're you--!?"[break][break]

But the little pokemon brings a tree down atop the Victreebel before it can swallow anything else, flattening it. Baki clambers to her feet, checking that her seedling isn't harmed.[break][break]

"... Fuck. Guess I'm lucky I got you."[break][break]

Baki slumps down, knocking a ball against the stunned Victreebel's head. She then just sits there, catching her breath. [break][break]

Like her mother, she owes this little bud her life.[break][break]
