As ever, the safari zone proves to be a respite among the hectic clamor of job duties and situational quandaries. Here, all Lam has to think about is how Peaches will respond to the wild pokemon they come across, and what he might be able to catch. Maybe he can even manage to get some field sketching in, but they’ll cross that bridge if they get there. The sun is weak, but still present—that downhill turn in winter before it tumbles in a headlong rush to an eager spring.

The fluttering of wings ripples through the quiet, and Lam follows the sound with Peaches toddling after him. It leads them to a flock of swooping woobat. Keeping quiet, he points out one that shines bright green amongst a sea of blue. Peaches takes the cue, and squares up— a hydro pump sending the woobat scattered as it hits the shiny one and sends it spiraling down for Lam to aim a safari ball at before it recovers.

“Oh, a rookidee!” Lam’s attention swivels excitedly to the little yellow bird. Lifting a hand to his mouth, he whistles out a funny tune to catch its attention. Only then does he pull a bag of seed from his pocket. Holding an offering out to the little bird to appease it and draw it to the palm of his hand.

Lam smiles as the Rookidee lights on his arm to peck at the bird feed, and after a moment, he taps on it lightly with a safari ball. It’s soon swallowed by the glow. Peaches chatters beside him, and points toward the water, then tromps over to splash in the shallows. Nearby, an alomomola floats, but it is easily ignored as the Psyduck plays.

[attr="class","body"] peaches continues to flop about in the water, happily paddling arms and webbed feet, despite the fact that she is in the shallows and her belly is resting on the silty pond bottom. She kicks off little splashes that threaten to soak Lam’s shoes and he laughs as he chides her affectionately. For just a little longer, he’s content to let her be— and doesn’t pull her from the water as a petilil scurries along the path.

Pleased with her time in the water, the Psyduck obliges, eagerly tumbling from the shallows with loud splashes. Which startle the appliance, but the pulse of CONFUSION that emanates from Peaches stuns it long enough to be snagged by a safari ball.

He frowned, though, as he looked at it. "It's eyes look kinda funny though, don't they?" No matter, Peaches blasted it with a dousing HYDRO PUMP regardless.[break][break]

At the last moment, it's body jellified, flashing between yellow and blue until what remained was a bright, raspberry blue ditto. "Oh! That explains it then!" he chirped, before he tossed a safari ball at it. "Let's get outta here now, Peachy." The psyduck remained surprised by the transformed pokemon, and blinked up at Lam blankly before toddling after him with an exasperated, pssyyy...
